Looking to find a place in the Junction to host a group of 20-30 people for a birthday celebration next month. Trying to avoid having to rent a room or pay extra deposit fees, and also find a place where everything doesn't have to be on one check for someone to deal with it at the end of the night. I feel like this is an impossible ask, but wanted to try to see if there was anywhere that could accommodate this before we come up with a different plan. Thank you in advanced!

I’ll always remember them for their mind-blowingly bad coffee - from a Seattle brunch spot, no less.

Closed the multi use path early. A barge approaches. The bridge never opens. The barge gets pushed back. The bridge stays closed. 20mins of nothing. Why can't the operator tell cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians what is going on? Many of us finally gave up and went to the 1st Ave bridge.

My commute has taken up to 25 whole ass minutes longer because of this semi-frequent experience of sitting behind a trash truck parked in the only god damn lane on the road. It's especially fun when the bus finally gets an opportunity to pass a garbage truck only to get stuck behind another one 3 blocks later. Why isn't this shit scheduled at noon?

So I tried to walk in and place an order tonight because as usual they weren’t picking up the phone.
CRAZY ass experience.
The moment I got there I pulled up and one of the employees, might have been a manager was SCREAMING at some poor lady who seemed confused about her order. She seemed to be very nice and even said in a low calming tone “ok can we please just have a conversation instead of you yelling at me”.
I went inside. As usual the phone was ringing. Took about 3 minutes for the employees to stop yelling at each other to notice me. The female employee at the front looks at me, picks up the phone, looks away, presses the answer button, and the 3 seconds later decides to hang up. Why you may ask? So she can turn around and start a yelling match between 2 other employees.
I finally get her attention to see how long it will be to get a to go order. She says 35 minutes. Then goes straight back to yelling at the two other employees. Turns out the entire reason they’re not picking up the phone is because they’re choosing to fight with each other instead. Not because they’re getting too many calls.
So I walked out. Ordered online to pick up at bang bar and enjoyed it.
I’ll never go back to Ruksa. Such unprofessional behavior and it’s really impacting their customers. I can’t fathom why so many people have given them good reviews online, except to think maybe they’re paying for fake reviews.
I’m done. Don’t care if I get downvoted to hell. Fuck em.

I’m deeply saddened by RJ Mitte’s death. If I can make a difference for even one person who’s struggling, I want to.
If you’re feeling lonely, having a hard time mentally, or struggling socially, you’re welcome to reach out. We can talk, you can vent, or we can grab coffee, take a walk, or do something you enjoy. No pressure to be outgoing or pretend you’re okay.
Your age, gender, race, or appearance don’t matter to me. How you’re doing matters. Sometimes having someone listen and spend time with you can help you feel seen.
I’m in West Seattle and prefer meeting here or around downtown, somewhere public. Feel free to message, even if it’s just “I could use some company.”

Is this a thing here? It’s our first time living up the hill from Morgan Junction. Will kids be around? Should we get bags of candy? Our next door neighbors leave town for the winter so we genuinely don’t know what to expect

My sister is coming to visit. She asked for the best burger, then widened her parameters. She’s looking forward to good greasy food. Where do you suggest?

Dave's hot chicken is going to open in the Alaska Junction. Private Equity (PE) Fried Chicken as the cool kids might say.
Looking across the internet, google reviews for their current puget sound locations are positive; asking otherwise, people say the spice levels are real, some love it, others are indifferent. I've never been to one; I've been to Raising Canes in Vegas. If RC opened a WS location I'd be on it 100%
My initial thought is that buying a high rent location to sell chicken tendies is certainly a thing. IMO chicken tendies are a solved issue; you can get great ones at a gas station, grocery store, or chic fil a.
I'm a cheap ass. QFC has perfectly fine chicken tendies on sale for like what $3 or $3.50 for two?
POSSIBLE GAME CHANGER: The DT location is open until 2am, the other two locals midnight. If the WS has similar hours that could change the rating considerably. Unless you are #noprivate-equityfriedchickins-inwestseattle..com
Also, my contacts have advised me that buying sauces via app is BS. Just ask for sauce and they should give it to you, unless they are ex-Chipotle employees and thus are dead to the world.
Fellow West Seattle fried chicken enthusiasts, please speak your mind regarding this issue.

A coworker in Seattle got three bids for a primary bath remodel, 27k, 34k, and 45k. Same scope on paper. Wildly different numbers
The cheapest excluded waterproofing behind the shower tile and used a 1500 dollar vanity allowance. The most expensive included full demo disposal, a schluter waterproofing system, and a five year warranty on all labor. The middle bid was somewhere in between and ended up being the winner
The bottom line number on a bathroom bid is useless without understanding what is included. "Bathroom remodel 27k" and "bathroom remodel 45k" can both be accurate quotes for the same room if one includes proper waterproofing, realistic allowances, disposal, and warranty coverage while the other doesnt
Always compare the line items not the totals

Anyone have any recommendations for a good Electrician that can install a car charger in West Seattle? Sunset pic…because we are lucky to live here!

I’m fine with this if it also includes enforcement of people blocking the street with their blinkers on to “pop-in” to get their to-go orders.
Specifics: (someone posted a nice map in a comment below)
Under the proposed paid parking changes, several of the busiest blocks would become 2-hour paid parking from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday:
*California Avenue Southwest from Southwest Dakota Street and Southwest Edmunds Street
*42nd Avenue Southwest from Southwest Oregon Street and Southwest Edmunds Street
*44th Avenue Southwest from Southwest Oregon Street and Southwest Edmunds Street
*Southwest Genesee Street from California Avenue Southwest and 42nd Ave Southwest
*Southwest Oregon Street from 44th Avenue Southwest and 42nd Avenue Southwest
*Southwest Alaska Street from California Ave Southwest and 42nd Avenue Southwest (South side only)
*Fauntleroy Way Southwest from Southwest Alaska Street and Southwest Edmunds Street
*Southwest Edmunds Street from Fauntleroy Way Southwest and 40th Avenue Southwest

Partner and I are planning to hit the junction with some friends on Halloween night. Wondering if anyone knows of any bars doing holiday specific activities. I know Poggie has done costume contests and DJs but not seeing anything on their socials. Any info is greatly appreciated! Also open to Admiral/Morgan junction and anywhere in between.

A couple years ago I posted on here to get this thing going and I've been really fortunate to meet so many awesome people this way. Those in the picture are from the group of people I met through hosting at my place and I'm always open to seeing who else out there might want in!
We keep it pretty light with mostly party-style games that take about 5-10 minutes to explain because we like to keep the pace moving and the energy up so super deep games that take an hour to learn aren't in the mix. It's mostly about hanging out and just having a good time while we try to kill each other or whatever the objective in the game is.
I host in Arbor Heights in West Seattle, typically at about 4 on Sundays. I used to offer Friday and Saturday nights and might again at some point but not at the moment. If that sounds interesting to you, DM me and I'll give you an invite to our WhatsApp group for new players. Hope to see ya around!

A Subaru with one headlight out and one tail light out. Kind of looks like a bar manager. He’s always pulling in and out of a parking lot. I get that drug dealers happen or whatever but he’s been remarkably present and more recently taking intermissions from sharking around in the sube to lurk around on foot. He has twice now has stood in the bushes looking at me.

I have a 1 year old daughter who loves being around other kids but sadly I’m not able to give her a lot of opportunities to meet them. I work full time in downtown and our nanny is with her during the day. She doesn’t drive so our options are limited. We live near HPIC. Are there any meetups/classes that our nanny can take our daughter to during weekdays? I can take her during weekends/evenings.

I love this moving 3 minute video by local documentarian/historian, BJ Bullert, about the Duwamish, featuring Ken Workman, whose ancestor is Chief Seattle. Thought I would share it here: https://vimeo.com/645586606
