5G Home Internet Speed Increase?
I've been a Verizon 5G Home Internet customer for a number of years now, and have consistently gotten their advertised 300 Mbps down/20 Mbps up speeds (as reported by Ookla's Speedtest) in all that time.
About a week ago, I noticed that the whole internet experience felt... perkier (for lack of a better description). Downloads completed in less time, videos loaded faster and with less buffering. I ran Ookla's Speedtest and was surprised to see my speeds had jumped to 800 Mbps down and 100 Mbps up. I thought that perhaps Verizon was doing some capacity testing with their network and that speeds would eventually return to the 300/20 level I'm paying for.
That was a week ago; as of this morning, the speeds are still in the 800/100 range, as indicated by the Speedtest results from a few minutes ago in the accompanying screenshot.
Did Verizon recently roll out speed increases in their various tiers of 5G Home Internet service? I did a quick Google search and could not find any information to that effect.
