It really does. It's not all of his fans, but I've tried talking about how fucking trans Audrey is, and how if you see yourself in him you should maybe think about that a little bit. I get a good amount of pushback when I do.
One person told me I was "fearmongering" femboys into taking estrogen. Another told me "what if femboys read this and think they can't take estrogen because they're not trans". No joke, absolutely stupid shit like that.
Doesn't help that on reddit, he only posts his comics on r/comics and his own subreddit. r/comics has a toxic ban against any kind of complaining, so they enable the hell out of him. So to give any kind of actual pushback you have to wade into the belly of the beast.
I really, really hate the repper from venus comics. Repping is really dangerous, does huge damage to your self esteem and brings you further and further away from having your body represent who you are.
For instance by pretty explicitly suffering gender dysphoria at the pool. The character claims to only dress and present fem because "he" likes it, but it's very clear from their behaviour that he straight up cannot present masculine without severe distress
Is it explict or is that how you read. Now I won't say you're wrong, and I'll even admit that I'm not trans so maybe there's things I'm simply missing but it seems its more about how cruel people can be towards feminine men. We haven't seen him dress masculine and can't say he actually dislikes it.
Me, I wouldn't say it's technically explicit - but it feels very heavily implied, in a way that's easy to connect the dots if you've had any experience with this kind of thing.
Audrey really likes swimming, and as such goes whenever he can. However, he is so firm on wearing a women's bathing suit that he will only swim during the off hours - not wearing a masculine swimsuit is so important to him, he will limit how often he does one of his favorite hobbies. And we know it's a favorite because of how good he is in the water - you don't get really good at swimming by accident.
It's an experience that gives HEAVY trans vibes - anyone who's trans can relate to that, especially if they like swimming.
So it's technically not explicit - but the trans implications are so heavy it's like Atlas holding up the world.
I won't say your defiantly wrong. But imo I do think its more simple as he prefers to be Fem and wear Fem clothes. He goes at night to avoid being mocked.
Technically possible, but it's just so heavily trans coded I can't ignore it.
I feel like if it was just a preference, if he didn't want to be mocked he would simply not wear a women's bathing suit. It's clearly important enough to him to make sacrifices for, which puts it past "just a preference" territory
I mean preferences can be very important. Wearing a dress would make me feel weird and I would hate it. I would avoid it at all cost. Wearing traditional men's clothes make me feel nice. Audrey is the same but he is a man who want to wear fem clothing. While I can see why a trans person would see that as trans coded to say it must be is where I dosagree.
Yeah he could wear men's bathing suit but he doesnt want to so he works around that.
To be fair he could be trans. Again im willing to admit I striaght up might be missing stuff.
Forgive me for assuming, but you're a cis man, right?
That weird feeling you hate when you think about wearing a dress? That you would avoid at all cost? That sounds like gender disphoria. Feeling nice in traditional men's clothes? That sounds like gender euphoria, as your presentation more accurately matches who you are.
These are the kind of feelings that push something beyond a preference or style. They are the kind of feelings that push a trans woman into transition - that make her exclusively wear women's clothing, exclusively use a feminine name, strive to be seen as a woman and not a man. Etc.
The fact that Audrey does all that and still refers to himself as a man, as a fictional character, is part of what makes a lot of trans women call foul.
But people don't have to have matching gender expression to their gender Identities. Mine happens to match up.
A man can dislike masculine clothing wear fem clothing and still be a man. Same for a woman with masc clothing. To say Audrey must be a woman because he wears fem clothing is just reinventing gender expectations but trans inclusive.
