Student Opportunity Does anyone know if we have any dance crews specializing in Indian Dance? If so, how can I contact them?

• Upvotes

I’m working with my organization, called Ascend, specifically the North Texas Chapter. We’re having a cultural event soon, and as a volunteer I wanted to ask if we had any dance crews that I could possibly refer to my volunteer team lead to possibly discuss performing at our Diwali Event.

I’m not too familiar with our creative arts majors other than what I did in my theater class, so I’d really appreciate if someone could direct me to anyone I could talk to about our event!

P.S.: I hope the tag fits 😅

Question: New Student Advice Speech language pathologist master program

Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out what schools are good for a speech-language pathologist program. For anyone who is in the grad program for SLP how is it? It’s the only school on my list that requires a GRE, so I’m wondering if it’s worth it to take the test for the one school

Discussion Professor Khan Exams and Curves

edit: Taimur Khan my bad

Hi yall, I just took my first exam with Professor Khan, and there were many questions on the test that were just downright confusing or too esoteric. I studied a good amount and felt confident going into the quiz, but I know there were things I got wrong walking out.

If anyone has had Khan before, has this been your experience? And does he usually curve his exams? I definitely feel like there needs to be a curve if there's so few points to go around in his class.

Discussion SG votes unanimously to oppose Flock and ALPR cameras

Hello UTD Reddit,

This is Sarim, elected student senator. I wanted to give an update on Deflock UTD in regards to Student Government. During the senate meeting, after listening to visitor comments, I presented my resolution "In Opposition to Flock Automated License Plate Reader Cameras and Automated License Plate Reader Surveillance at UT Dallas.". It has passed unanimously. Student Government will now be pushing for and advocating against Flock cameras, as well as pushing the Police Oversight Committee to oversee Flock cameras as well.

The petition against Flock cameras has also hit 400 signatures. Please sign it if you haven't already! https://www.change.org/deflockutd . It's very important we show administration this is an issue that matters.

Question: Admissions Transferring to UTD in the spring they are already Stressing me out

So I got admitted to spring 2027 around 2 weeks ago. I submitted my meningitis records around 2 weeks ago, still no update, I still have a hold. I have a hold for TSI, which I have taken classes way past that. I have a hold for registrar, reason unknown. I have a hold for Student Transition, reason unknown. I have tried multiple times to speak to someone for assistance and they keep saying "Wait for orientation." But to even do orientation I have to sign up for it and complete the canvas quiz. It is not popping up in my canvas after i paid for orientation and so i can't even do that. So the way they set it up I wouldn't even be able to attend orientation without doing the quiz. They also told me to be ready to register for classes, I can't do that because of the holds. I have tried multiple times to speak to an advisor, someone from enrollment, literally anyone, and they are all saying "You must attend orientation first." LIKE WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?????

Question: New Student Advice Actuarial Science at UTD

Hey! I'm currently a senior in high school and I recently got accepted into UTD for actuarial science (fall 2027). I just had a couple of questions about the program for students that are currently in the program and I'd appreciate any insight!

  • How are you liking UTD and the actuarial science program so far?
  • How are the internship & networking opportunities? Does UTD help students connect with companies or is it mostly up to you to find opportunities? I'd also love to know how hard it is for ppl to actually land that internship.
  • Is there a community/online community for act sci students at UTD? Since it's such a niche major, I'm curious if everyone tends to know each other and help each other out, especially for exams/finding internships. I'm also a bit shy, so I'd love to know about how easy/hard it is to meet other people in the program 😭.
  • Do you feel like the program is preparing you well? Are the professors helpful when it comes to figuring stuff out?
  • Do professors lean more towards CAS/SOA or is it even ish?
  • Are there any actuarial clubs/organizations/groups you'd recommend joining as a freshman?

If there's any tips/advice other than that, feel free to mention it, I appreciate any advice!

And if you're also a senior or incoming freshman at UTD for fall 2027, feel free to message me! :)

Rant Post suicide academic decline

dude. i do NOT UNDERSTAND. no matter how hard j try or study i ALWAYS FAIL. i am a sophomore and i was in ib in highschool but after i attempted in senior year of highschool no amount of studying works. NOTHING. ontop of that, i get the WORST TEACHERS. THE WORST!! they always graded harshly, this semester is ok with my teachers i am just struggling because of my depression. j cant learn anything. i dont get it. im always failing now

my gpa is a 2.01. it is so unbelievably low and i cannot pull it up no matter what i do. i have tried to change how much i study and my study methods but no matter how much i try i never score above a 75 and always fail my exams.

i really just want to give up. ive lost all hope. all this failing is just killing my motivation and feeding my depression until it makes sure im at a point of no recovery.

The Southern Methodist University Family Research Center, in collaboration with the University of Washington Acculturation, Diversity, and Psychopathology Team, is recruiting participants for the Black Adult Resilience Study.
