USMNT Eddie Johnson claps back at Landon Donovan
instagram.comA Instagram response back from Eddie Johnson wrt Landon’s statement on anointing young players. For some reason, Landon singled out Eddie Johnson (and Gio Reyna) among others. Original discussion thread is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/s/iHYe8FiW4d
Text of what Eddie said:
eddie_johnson7: I can't speak for @freddy_adu or Santino Quaranta or @gioareyna but I will speak for myself Landon Timothy Donovan. You talk so much shit about every other young upcoming player in the past but yourself lol why don't we talk about the 5 years you were in Germany and failed and ran back to MLS bc you weren't good enough? Why don't we speak about this? One of the best considerably players in ourcountry failed in Europe early in his career no one killed him but he's killing all these young players that have done more then he ever has done in Europe. I got Time today. You played in a World Cup I played in a World Cup you played in a U-17 World Cup U-20 World Cup Olympics I did the same what make you different then a kid from Bunnell Florida. I did everything you did with fewer opportunities and still considered one of the best strikers this country has seen!!

USMNT Winter departure "likely on the cards" for Malik Tillman at Leverkusen
Bournemouth would be a fun destination. Tillman is quality, and I don't know whether he's just a bad fit at Leverkusen tactically or personally, but he will contribute somewhere.

Discussion How do USMNT player values change as they age? And other comparisons...
Hey everyone! Curious USMNT fan here 👋
I often look up USMNT players on Transfermarkt, but the user experience isn’t that great so I built a dashboard to track all the USMNT players as their values change.
The site:
- Tracks the biggest risers and fallers since each player’s last valuation (Balogun is up $10.8M to $54M, Alex Freeman is up 186%)
- Compares career arcs with a value-by-age chart.
- Explores how player values change when a player leaves MLS for Europe and vice-versa.
I’d love some feedback! Let me know what you like, what you don’t, if anything looks off, and what would be helpful to add. Players I’m missing are especially welcome. I’m mostly doing this for my own curiosity but figured I’d share with other fans!

USMNT Ideal Next Clubs
I’d love to hear ideas for where our young players can realistically go over the next few transfer windows? I think the MLS moving their calendar next year will help facilitate this.
It’s probably reasonable to assume the NYRB kids will stay within the Red Bull system. Ellis, Pierre, Peyton Miller in particular all seem to have tools that will make them attractive to someone in Europe. Curious for everyone’s thoughts.
