It's simple. Just go talk to a USMC recruiter. If you get turned away, then the Navy can be your backup.

Ya I already tried with navy. Got approved but marines is what I want which why I’ve took this year and some change to do college and show I’m a good citizen and I’ve changed. If I’m turned away I’m trying another recruiter and after a few I’m just going to go army. I’m going to do this for me and my 2 boys so they can have someone to look up to instead of a concrete worker which what I do now.

Hell yeah man. Never give up. I'm rooting for you.

Also dwi was misdemeanor no one was hurt or nothing I was parked lol. That’s my only conviction except the juvenile one.

Everyone is giving you some good info, but the only one that can tell you for sure, is a Marine recruiter. Good luck!

You have way too much going on. No one here can give you an answer, only a recruiter. I highly doubt it, but if ww3 pops off recruiting standards drop.

I have my ged now and 15 college credits I was told that if I have 15 college credits they don’t see it as ged anymore they see it as high school graduate which makes my education a tier one. I believe it’d be just the legal stuff

Brother. Go join trust me I was nearly exactly as you .. I joined with 2 dwis and a an unlawful carry, a ged which was supposedly a “diploma” I’m 28 w 2 kids ,I had so much paper work to deal with and hella waivers .. but thankfully my recruiters made it happen. I would say just go pull up on then and if you can push them to make it happen .. it can and it will happen if you really want it

I have my ged now and 15 college credits I was told that if I have 15 college credits they don’t see it as ged anymore they see it as high school graduate which makes my education a tier one. I believe it’d be just all the legal bs but only one conviction so I’m hoping.

You cannot join while on probation, but sometimes you can get the court to let you off if you can prove your joining the military. Problem is recruiters cannot legally step in and help you regarding proof or writing a statement of any sort.

I have never been on probation except as a child.^^^^^^^ I got time served because I told them I didn’t want probation because depending how long it was it was gonna stop me from enlisting. So I sat the cool 2 weeks out in county.

With felonies its case by case. Some people get waivers some don’t. I had a misdemeanor charge when I was 18, and put on probation for a year. Then joined, but I can only speak from my experience.

u/Crafty-Club-853 Aug 05 '26

I don’t have felonies. They were just charges which were dropped so I was never guilty or anything because I did nothing illegal. Lowkey could have sued the court and the cop but I was young and dumb. Thank you tho for taking time to comment🤝

Buddy we are in the same boat went to a recruiter at 22 and flaked out bc deep down I didn’t wanna stop smoking at the end of the day …. I’m 24 now stopped smoking so I can be a marine and surprisingly the recruiter that’s working with me now is the same one that I flaked out on . Until you’re at the cut off age it’s never too late . My Advice go talk to a recruiter and be 100% honest with them and yourself.from my experience if you truly want the will put the work in for you but it’s a two way street you gotta show you want it show up on time . If they need you to do something then do it .

it's (almost) never too late, and there is always a chance of success, but you are going to find a recruiter that is willing to work with you and put in all the waiver requests you will need.

it depends on how desperate the recruiter is.

personally, i don't think you are a good fit for the Corps with all that going on, and i wouldn't grant those waivers, based on all of that, but i've seen much worse make it through.

either way, best wishes to you.

Lmaooo idk why u say all that going on nothing is going on everything is handled and documented ONE Conviction everything else dropped and juvenile one little record. I have a recruiter willing to put in the waivers tho im finishing this next semester and while im doing so we doing the process. My buddy just got done with ITB and got his recruiter in touch with me. He said he got me because just what he heard about me is I’m a changed person 100%.

u/Crafty-Club-853 Aug 06 '26

Plus he said he’s gotten people in with many more convictions. Just wanted peoples opinion but I appreciate u commenting and letting me know fr🤝

Okay. You do you.

Navy Seabees no ship on the sea. Do heavy equipment operator.

1

u/Crafty-Club-853 Aug 06 '26

Nah I looked into it. That’s what I was going to sign but nothing sounds as good or even close to satisfying me in future as being a marine would.

u/Shot_Anything8125 Aug 06 '26

Navy Seabees no sea duty

ARMY ARMY ARMY 11B

1

u/Crafty-Club-853 Aug 05 '26

That’s the back up infantry paratrooper. 2 of my cousins are in army but marines always stood out to me as a kid even just the title marine. Plus I’m not a follower so I’m def going to do something different.

2

u/Chappie1961 Aug 06 '26

"Plus I’m not a follower"

You say that you want to enlist in the USMC and serve as an 0311 (Rifleman). If you do succeed in your efforts, you will be forced - many times - to eat those words above.

1

u/helibornehellbound Aug 06 '26

Id say with the hand tattoos and shit, its probably your best bet. When I was in the Marines, we couldnt have hand tattoos at all. Not sure if anything has changed. 2008-2016

1

u/thetitleofmybook Vet Aug 06 '26

tattoo policies have changed, but hand tattoos are still a big no-no

1

u/Crafty-Club-853 Aug 06 '26

I don’t have hand tattoos. If you read above they are gone. Like it was never there lol.

1

u/helibornehellbound Aug 06 '26

Then give it a go!
