Other [MOD POST] General Housekeeping 2025 (and a quick guide for job seekers!)

General Housekeeping 2025 (and a quick guide for job seekers!)

Hey y'all! It's time for our annual housekeeping post :) There's a few more action items at the bottom of the post, but I wanted to prioritize making a little guide for job seekers so they get the most out of using this sub as part of their job search.

What I've noticed:

Many posts by job seekers, both on this sub and on the Raleigh/Triangle general subs, are skeletal and contain very little, if any, information about the job seeker's background and experience, focusing instead on the sorts of jobs they're looking for or sticking to just a general "who's hiring?" These posts are rarely useful and don't get much traction.

What local recruiters & employers find most helpful:

More information about you! We don't expect you to post your full resume for all to see, but we probably won't reach out to a random screen name who just says "anyone hiring?" unless we know a little more about your experience and credentials. You can keep it high level ("I've mostly worked in food service, back of house") or you can get granular ("I did the barista training through Wake Tech's hospitality program, spent 5 years as a barista for a national chain, and now am the shift manager for a local coffee shop"). Any other preferences are helpful too (pay, benefits, schedule, location, etc.). None of this is required and your post won't be removed if you don't include this, but it certainly helps! Consider using the below format to structure your [FOR HIRE] post:

  • What I'm looking for:

  • My relevant experience and training:

  • Additional info: (put pay needs, location, or any other information here!)

About personal information / resumes:

While the sub doesn't bar folks from sharing personal contact information or full resumes in posts, we do discourage it. Most of Reddit, including this sub, is part of the open web, so it's viewable by anyone without an account, and despite the API changes is still scraped on occasion. Users are encouraged to share personal identifying information via Reddit's private chat system instead of in posts or comments. If you do want to share contact information in a post or comment, it's recommended to set up a Google Voice number and throwaway email to protect your privacy. You may also want to create a sockpuppet Reddit account to chat with employers and recruiters if your regular account contains content history that includes protected information (like medical or criminal history), NSFW material, or anything else you might want to keep private.

That's it for the quick guide for job seekers! Hope it helps :)

Now onto the rest of the housekeeping--

A few more things of note:

  • On embedding text in image or video files: If your job listing or resume is embedded in an image or video, please consider transcribing it in plain text in the body of the post as well. Text embedded in images or videos is not indexed by Reddit or search engines, which negatively impacts visibility AND rediscoverability.

  • On self-censorship / "algospeak": While it's increasingly common for other platforms like Tiktok to shadowban or remove posts and comments that use curse words and similar, this does not apply on TriangleJobs (or on most of Reddit, frankly). All content, (including content caught in our automod filters!) is manually evaluated, and content filtering/removal happens on a case-by-case basis per sub rules and automod scripts that I made myself. Please refrain from using asterisks or intentional misspellings to censor your posts and comments, as it reduces the effectiveness of both my moderation tools and individual users' custom content tools.

  • On AI-generated content: Using generative AI tools to augment your resume or job listing is totally fine! But since this sub is meant for meaningful discussion and for making connections between local employers, job seekers, and recruiters, we do not permit fully AI-generated content or bot account participation.

  • On subreddit formatting across devices: Once again, I am a vintage Redditor and interact with Reddit exclusively through my computer in the Old Reddit layout. If there are any glitches or irregularities with the sub on New Reddit, New New Reddit, or the mobile app, please message me so I can fix it because I won't catch it otherwise!

As a final reminder: All job listings must follow federal, state, and local employment laws. This includes laws about what can constitute as a 1099 vs. a W2 employee, laws about what qualifies as an unpaid internship, and laws about minimum wage. The sub also does not permit most commission-only or canvassing work, and only permits volunteer opportunities for nonprofit organizations.

Thanks again for using the sub, & happy hiring / job hunting!

Other [MOD POST] Scam Alert - "Online Part-time Jobs"

Hey y'all, want to make sure everyone stays safe out there and is aware of a scam that's been going around this sub and some other job search subs.

Scammers are leaving comments or sending chats offering job seekers an "online part-time job." They are very vague about the type of work, and offer between $50-300/week, sometimes more. If you respond to them via chat, they will ask to remote into your computer, usually through a remote desktop application called AnyDesk.

Needless to say, do not allow them access to your PC.

If one of your posts on r/trianglejobs receives a comment like this, please report the comment right away. If you receive a DM like this, please message me (either personally or via the "message the mods" function on TriangleJobs) with the account's username and a screenshot of the message you received. Thanks for helping keep this sub safe for job seekers!

For Hire For Hire: Entry-level Work

• Upvotes

Hello! I'm 24 and recently graduated from uni with a B.S. in Public Relations & Advertising, and I have certifications in digital marketing and business entrepreneurship. I've also taught myself some HTML to help my professor develop and design a website. I'm planning to relocate from Florida to Raleigh. Does anyone know of companies hiring fresh grads? Something that isn't just cold calling. I'm hoping to put my skills to use while learning more. I'm looking for creative, strategic work where I can do Comms, PR, AD, Digital Marketing, or something along those lines. Feel free to DM me! :)

I'm moving because I want to enter the biotech industry in the future, and I'm planning to get an A.S. in Biotech a little later.

For Hire Looking for a sales job

Hi! I’m 23, based in Raleigh, and recently graduated from App State with a degree in Communication. My long-term goal is to build a career in medical sales, but I understand that breaking into the industry can take time, and I’m open to start in a related sales role where I can learn, gain experience, and prove myself.
I’m a very hard worker who is highly motivated, coachable, punctual, personable, and confident. I’m not afraid of rejection, and I’m willing to put in the work to get results.
I’d love to hear from anyone working in medical sales, pharmaceutical sales, medical device sales, or another sales field who might have advice, recommendations, or leads on entry-level opportunities in the Raleigh area.
Thank you!!

Other Raleigh career coach here: I'll update 20 resumes for free, all by email

Hey r/trianglejobs, I'm Brett, a professional career coach based in Northwest Raleigh. I run Critical Path Executive Coaching, and over the past couple of years I've worked with senior leaders at places like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and Cisco, plus a lot of founders and operators of smaller businesses.

The job market's been rough for a lot of people I know here, so I want to give something back between now and the New Year.

I'm going to do full resume updates for 20 people, no charge.

Here's how it works. Everything happens over email, so there are no calls to schedule. I'll need three things from you:

-Your current resume

-3–5 job postings that are the kind of role you're going after My -Career Evidence Intake form, which takes about an hour.

I'll be honest, the form is the part that takes real effort. It's how I pull out the accomplishments and numbers that usually never make it onto a resume, and it's a big reason the final version ends up much stronger than a cleanup. If you can't set aside the hour, this probably isn't a fit right now.

In return, you'll get a rebuilt resume aimed at the roles you sent me, along with notes on what I changed and why.

If you're interested, DM me with "Reddit resume" in the subject line. I'll take the first 20 people who send everything in.

Note: My work has predominantly been with senior leaders in technology and technology adjacent industries. However I do have experience working with folks in public sector, private sector, academia. Etc. Depending on where you go this is a $300-$1500 service.

Edit: I've got a couple questions so I wanted to answer them. Firstly I'm getting a lot of interest. I will keep taking people until I have 20 folks that have returned that intake form. That's what puts you in the queue.

Secondly, my website is CriticalPathHQ.com

Edit2: Hi Everyone, I'm happy to help but unfortunately, I'm at the point where I have to start a waiting list. Feel free to still message me if you want to be on it.

If folks drop from the list or if/when I open more slots next month I'll reach back out.

For Hire Tired

I’ve been applying to roles left and right. I’m also on career sites and have submitted my resume to many places but I just can’t seem to land anything. Nearly everyday I’m getting the dreaded “we’ve gone with another candidate email”.

It’s so frustrating. All It takes is one yes but literally no one is saying yes. I’ve been on the hunt for a while now. I’m grateful to be employed currently but it’s a job that doesn’t fulfill me, pay enough nor does It offer any career progression. And i fear the longer i stay with the current company the further removed i am to any relevant experience for the jobs i apply for.

Searching for: Entry level product support, IT support, Customer success, Business development representative and any other roles relevant to these.

For Hire Need a job that is accommodating for a college student with autism

Good morning,

I've had my job position terminated twice this year, my first job was remote and worked wonderfully with my class schedule. I am currently working at a cafe that will be closing at the end of the month. I am looking for something that is anywhere between 20-25 hours a week and I am available Thursday-Monday. My current job is relaxed enough that I can work on my schoolwork in between helping customers so as long as I obviously make sure the cafe is clean, stocked, and all drinks, ice, etc are ready to be served.

I was officially diagnosed with autism this year after experiencing extreme burnout that has led to me needing to apply for part time disability. I wasn't sure if there were any jobs available right now that would be accommodating to my situation as I realize despite my condition, I still need to figure out a way to work. I have no issues getting tasks done in a timely fashion, and I follow directions without being told more than once, it is high volume, back to back customer interaction, and long, full time hours that put me in a bad spot. I have a lot of experience with production/warehousing, floral design, data entry, and anything repetitive really I feel like I do well with.

For Hire [FOR HIRE] Network & System Admin looking for good paying Job- Disabled Combat Veteran

I'm retired from the Army and a disabled combat veteran looking for a good paying job in the IT field. I've done IT work for over 2 decades now. I'm a Wake Tech Grad, and I possess 5 current IT certifications and 3 expired IT certifications.

I've tried the ZipRecruiter, LinkedIn, and Indeed game for a while now and have had little to no luck, or I landed interviews but due to my disabilites/social awkwardness, never landed the positions.

Any and all help, advice, or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hiring [HIRING] Molecular Biologist / Microbiologist - Syngenta RTP in Durham - 6+ mo W2 contract @ $27.00 - $31.75/hr. - M-F 8-5

EDIT: While the role isn't filled yet, it has hit the applicant cap and is actively interviewing, so no new candidates are being considered at this time. Thanks for your interest!

Happy fall y'all! We're collaborating with Syngenta RTP to help them find a Molecular Biologist / Microbiologist to join their Lead Production / Trait Discovery team. This person will work hands-on in the lab every day, performing techniques like bacterial transformations, plasmid purification, lysate generation, protein purification, and transient sample production. You'll also culture and maintain microbial strains using aseptic techniques, and upload all pertinent experimental data to the LIMS software.

  • Requirements: This role requires a relevant Bachelor's degree (preferably in Molecular Biology or Microbiology, but regular Biology or similar is fine) and 1-3+ years' professional lab experience. You should have working knowledge of the techniques listed above (if you've only done some of them during undergrad it's okay, but the more of them you have professional experience with, the better!).

  • Schedule details: M-F 8-5 standard business hours

  • Location: This is a fully onsite position at Syngenta RTP in Durham.

  • Work details: This is a 6-month W2 contract to start; lab contracts with Syngenta have a high likelihood of extension. Hourly pay range is $27.00 - $31.00, but they can flex up to $31.75 for the ideal candidate.

Application instructions: If you have any questions or would like to apply, message me directly here on Reddit and I will share my email address for you to send your resume :)

Other Salary question for TV/Radio Commercial Traffic Director

I'm planning a move to the Raleigh area and am deciding on jobs to apply for. I have worked in radio as a commercial traffic director and am considering pursuing that career path again. Would anyone be willing to share a salary range for this position in the Raleigh area? I've searched online, but I don't trust the range Indeed is reporting and can't find any active listings for this position.

For Hire Looking for work – construction / equipment / outdoor – $25+

Looking for work in the Raleigh area or traveling.

I have degrees in geology and chemistry and a pretty broad field/construction background. I've done tree work, landscaping, equipment operation, pond and stormwater maintenance, underground work, and tower climbing. I've also worked as a construction inspector on the 440 and 540 projects and also the I95 project (smithfield to selma) doing structural inspections, reading plans, concrete testing, and overseeing crews.

Currently looking for something hands on and preferably outdoors like construction, heavy civil, utilities, directional drilling, excavation, land clearing, tree work, environmental/geotech, equipment operation, foreman or assistant superintendent, etc.

I'm comfortable working hard, running equipment, managing crews, reading plans, traveling, and taking responsibility.

Looking for $25+/hr. Open to traveling for the right job. A job that provides a company vehicle would be cool.

If you're hiring or know somebody who is please message me. Thanks.
