Characters [Loved Trope] The one random episode that doesn't follow the main characters

Heated Rivalry Episode 3 "Hunter": The show stops following Hollander and Rozanov's love story to follow another hockey player, Scott Hunter, and his romance with a smoothie store employee.

The Last of Us S1E3 "Long Long Time": Joel and Ellie need a car. So to explain why there's a car waiting around for them to use, they show us an incredibly heartbreaking love story lasting 20 years between two men Joel knows. They have a car.

Doctor Who S3E10 "Blink": With no explanation given, this episode begins with a character we've never met, one Sally Sparrow, poking around an abandoned building. Our lead character, The Doctor, is glimpsed seemingly randomly on TVs. What is going on? Did that statue just move!?

MythicQuest S1E5 "A Dark Quiet Death": Rather than continuing to follow our lead characters as they develop an MMORPG, we flash back many years to witness the history of a couple who start a videogame company, and how over the years the pressure to drive sales causes them to give up on their artistic integrity.

LoK suffered heavily from having fewer episodes per season. Atla's 3-season run had more episodes total than LoK's 4-season run. And seasons 1 and 2 had to be self contained. It truly deserves a remake.

I have not seen the Netflix live action series yet and likely never will, but I would be genuinely interested in LoK getting that same treatment because it might actually benefit from the grounded nature of live action, and being able to plan things out from the beginning.

Every change I’ve heard about in the ATLA live action has made me frown because they seem to take away what gave the original its meaning and texture (like Sokka’s misogyny being a starting point for growth and to make him fun to watch get humbled) but Korra really could use some dynamic changes, and a more focused structure.

Is it weird to say I would watch a full season of Pro Bending drama before the main plot with Amon even kicks off?

Not a big fan of the live action Netflix series, but some changes were pretty damn good. They added a bit of extra plot to explain the airbender genocide (The comets arrival is basically a festival in airbender culture, a signal to meet up. The fire nation makes it look like their military is preparing to strike the earth kingdom once again, but diverts to the festival, catching most of the airbenders while unaware.) and my favourite change is that Zukos crew are the rookies he saved when he stood up to Ozai.
