Characters [Loved Trope] The one random episode that doesn't follow the main characters

Heated Rivalry Episode 3 "Hunter": The show stops following Hollander and Rozanov's love story to follow another hockey player, Scott Hunter, and his romance with a smoothie store employee.

The Last of Us S1E3 "Long Long Time": Joel and Ellie need a car. So to explain why there's a car waiting around for them to use, they show us an incredibly heartbreaking love story lasting 20 years between two men Joel knows. They have a car.

Doctor Who S3E10 "Blink": With no explanation given, this episode begins with a character we've never met, one Sally Sparrow, poking around an abandoned building. Our lead character, The Doctor, is glimpsed seemingly randomly on TVs. What is going on? Did that statue just move!?

MythicQuest S1E5 "A Dark Quiet Death": Rather than continuing to follow our lead characters as they develop an MMORPG, we flash back many years to witness the history of a couple who start a videogame company, and how over the years the pressure to drive sales causes them to give up on their artistic integrity.

The "My Villain Academia" arc of My Hero Academia.

Some of the best fighting in the whole show and great plot progressuon and development for the villain characters

It was so good in the manga I legit wished there was more, apparently, it was SUPER unpopular in Japan

A bit of a explanation for people who might immediately think MHA is unpopular in Japan, the manga is still overall pretty popular in Japan but the school life arcs tend to be better received than the hero vs. villain arcs. Hori actually had to change plans during the Camping Arc because the villains attacking caused the reviews and viewership take a notable nosedive.

This isn't the first time I've noticed this, but japanese audiences are so bizarre. The school stuff was the most boring part of MHA. Another example that comes to mind is Iruka from Naruto always being top 5 in popularity polls, despite western fans barely remembering the guy

that's...the guy who looks like the shadow puppet kid right? other than that i only know Shiruka the invisible baby

Iruka is Naruto’s former teacher at the Academy, he was also the guy that stood in as Naruto’s father at his wedding.

Fr we just finished the whole show TONIGHT and it feels like half of the Final War was not about main characters but I actually loved it
