  1. The marketing makes it seem like the movie is about Austin (the unbreakable boy) who is autistic, but rather it's about his prick of a father who caused a drunk driving accident
  2. The talking kangaroo was included in all of the trailers and the main poster but was only a hallucination and was seen for like 30 seconds (Kangaroo Jack)

Not to mention the contrast and haunting visuals of a resort where people were having fun just turned into a world frozen in time from when the panic started. You can see trails of abandoned luggage and blood smeared on the ground from people being dragged away. You can even find a guy in a pool of blood crying about how he just had to kill his entire family after they turned. Beyond that, you can see that Banoi isn’t as prosperous as it looked from the resort, mirroring how Hawaii’s tourist front is a sham, with the real Hawaii being devastated by colonialism.

Dead Island’s series has always thrived with environmental design tbh. There’s so many tiny stories sprinkled throughout the series that shows the chaos and violence during the initial zombie rampage that we just barely missed.

Steph Sterling did an amazing video breaking down how it’s not a great game, but it’s underrated as all hell. There was a particular love for the sound design, e.g. the way infected are heard before they’re seen and can send you into a panic, but there are also ambient sounds that are basically identical which often has you second guessing if you’re really safe; or the labored, strained breathing of the walkers, the way it sounds like they’ve got blood in their lungs and stuff.
