Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) False advertising

  1. The marketing makes it seem like the movie is about Austin (the unbreakable boy) who is autistic, but rather it's about his prick of a father who caused a drunk driving accident
  2. The talking kangaroo was included in all of the trailers and the main poster but was only a hallucination and was seen for like 30 seconds (Kangaroo Jack)

I remember 10ish years ago picking up a book by the same author, and it was utterly incomprehensible

Was going to say I remember reading the book in the early 2000s, when I was an unemployed college drop out with nothing but free time and no money, and it was a trip. Parts of it are coherent while others are clearly the writer being absolutely trashed and playing around with language/writing. Would say that Gravity's Rainbow reminds me of it but it's absurd difficulty comes from the sheer density of the writing than anything (the Crying of Lot 49 being like a little preview, far shorter and a touch easier to wrap your brain around).

On the plus side, I knocked over the Sun Sphere.

That book was one of the biggest literary mindfucks I’ve ever experienced.
