Hated Tropes (Hated)You know this cute couple we spend the last movie developing?Yeah, they broke up off-screen

John and Lori-Ted 2

Sam and Mikaela-Transformers 3

Wade and Vanessa-Deadpool and Wolverine(yeah,i know the ending implies they get back, but it just begs the question what was even the point, even Morena Baccarin Vanessa actress complained about how her character was sidelined)

I watched the first Star Trek movie he directed and I thought it was fine, granted never watch any Star Trek shows at all, what made those movies bad for you?

Kirk being made captain out of nowhere makes no sense. Nero going missing for such a long period of time, even with the deleted scenes no way a ship that powerful gets captured by the Klingon’s. The idea of transwarp breaks the universe. Not to mention that even though it’s alternate timeline, Vulcan has no moon.

Start to finish basically everything.

Star Trek was not really an action show in most episodes. There are stakes, there are tense moments, and there also is action, but the important and valued moments of the series are not action sequences.

If you were to say that the defining moment of the original Star Wars trilogy is Luke going into the trench of the death star, being saved from Vader by his friend Han, trusting the force and blowing up the death star, then you have the perfect contrast.

Every choice Abrams made, he made it to make star trek more action-y, more lens flare-y and missing the points of characters.

Compare this:

Star Trek, The Wrath of Kahn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPQfwmfRq2s

Star Trek, JJ Abrams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztNaTQmx3Qs

Wrath of Kahn isn't even very well liked, some of the best Star Trek Next Generation episodes involve Court Cases and questions of morality with zero "action".

Wrath of Kahn isn't even very well liked,

What?? Really? I always think of it as 2nd or 3rd for the films

Sure, but as a highlight from all of pre 2000 star trek?

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls076657706/

You are right though, this list has a it as number 2 of the non abrams films:

Oh purely as a film.

If we were comparing it to episodes (heck even narrow it down to just 2 parters) it wouldn't even make the top 10!

It's also fascinating just how dumb Khan is in WoK compared to Space seed 😂. I mean he's kinda driven mad with rage which explains it a bit but he's definitely less cunning in the film.

Damn that list is insane. Into darkness at 5th is way too high.

Star trek 4 has to be above that for me

so you don't like it because they changed it into an action movie?

I actually agree with that front, I thought the movie moved too quick for my liking, every slow scene has to end with an action scene which kinda bugged me.

I want more just people talking with good dialogue

Wrath of Khan is debated with First Contact as the best Star Trek film
