THE DISH THE NICARAGUAN IS ON IS NOT HER CURRENT WATER DISH!!!!! That dish WAS her water dish, but it sits outside of her burrow, and she filled it with dirt and would lunge at me whenever I tried to retrieve it. So she has a second one in the back that has water. Don’t worry!
But anyways, these are my ladies. Left is Honduran form, right is Nicaraguan. Both of them molted somewhere within the same week. Honduran had a weird molt where she laid on her belly instead of her back but still managed to get through it. So not all of her hairs are tufting up, some have dried slicked down, making her look a bit less hairy than normal.
The Nicaraguan form is a better representation of the wild form. It is very very fluffy and the carapace has a bronze sheen. They are known to be more skittish and high strung (true for my spider). Since Nicaraguan have not been in the trade as long as Honduran, they are more likely to be wild caught (mine is not).
The Honduran form is sometimes called the ‘hobby form’ because its genetics are muddled. It is undeniably a T Albo, but there has been crossbreeding in the past which has brought it further from its wild form. They are still curlier and fluffier than other species but not as curly as the Nicaraguan Form. Their bodies are usually dark brown or blackish. They are known to be more chill and tolerable (true for my spider).
One other thing is Nicaraguan tend to have peachy hairs while Honduran tend to have white hairs. This is not true for my Honduran, but I believe physical characteristics for them can vary since they are technically hybrids.
Think of it like this: Left is a “labrador retriever” I got off craigslist, right is an AKC registered show Labrador retriever

A few months ago, I moved my b smithi to a new enclosure. Since then, she seems to be constantly trying to escape.
As the days go by, I notice that she’s getting balder, but I haven’t been able to catch her kicking hairs or find any urticating hairs around the enclosure (I mention this because my L klugi spreads her urticating hairs around the enclosure when she’s about to molt)
Temperature, water, and humidity are all under control by a thermohygrometer
I don’t know what could be causing her stress, since I’m the kind of keeper who barely disturbs the enclosure. I only open it to feed her and change her water.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
Her last molt was around six months ago, possibly longer.

I think this is my first post. Go easy on me. 💀 I recently spent $366 on an order from a tarantula seller, including $40 shipping. I purchased my dream spider, a Brazilian Jewel, and added another spider specifically to qualify for their $300 promotional tier.
Unfortunately, my order had several issues from start to finish.
First, there was a problem with the order being processed, and I had to follow up. I bought my spiders on Tuesday, and they ship T, W, and Th. I expected shipping Wed or Thurs. I contacted them on Friday and asked when they would ship and was told my order fell through the cracks and we arranged shipping for Tuesday. They contacted me Monday to tell me that the Chilean Flame I'd specifically spent extra money to qualify for was no longer available due to an their website having a stock glitch. I specifically wanted this one for the size and temperament. I understood that things happen, so I selected alternatives.
Speaking of the freebies, theirs had updated. Now the freebies available were considerably cheaper and the more aggressive species. Which felt like shit bc I paid extra to get that tier.. From a $96 tarantula to $48 - $68 tarantulas. Now you have to spend $400 to get the 90+ guys. Kinda annoying I guess because it made me wonder if they actually ran out or not. I also work in financial fraud investigation so to be fair to me, it's my job to be suspicious. 💀
When my order arrived, three spiders were alive, but one of the promotional slings, a 0.25-inch Guatemalan Tiger Rump, was dead. I documented the DOA and contacted the seller.
They offered to replace it with my next purchase. When I explained that this was a significant, one-time purchase for me and I wasn't sure I'd order again, they offered to send the replacement separately if I paid shipping and a box fee.
They initially quoted me $60.
Here's where I became uncomfortable: the exact spider retails for $20 on their website, and regular checkout for that spider plus shipping also totals $60. So the supposedly free replacement would cost exactly as much as purchasing another spider outright.
I reviewed their published terms and found that the box fee was listed as $10, not $20. When I questioned the discrepancy, they immediately lowered the replacement quote to $50, explaining that shipping to my location was cheaper than that. Meaning 40 --> 30. They also did reply probably within a minute or so to that text.
But I'd already paid $40 shipping on my original order to that same address.
I understand that live-animal shipping is expensive, and I understand that promotional animals may have different replacement policies. I also recognize that the customer service representative may simply be following company policy. Also, speaking of shipping, my 2 free spiders were not packed with a paper towel cork. Only my paid ones. Which.. is odd because they're living creatures and deserve idk dude like 3 cents of paper towels. My tiger rump looked injured as well. The booty was bent oddly and shriveled up under them. It was wet all over its body, I assume from their body getting injured. I did kind of assume a rough handling if I'm being honest just from the whole vibe I'm getting.
However, between the order issues, inventory mistake, deceased spider, and inconsistent replacement pricing, I've lost confidence in the seller.
I'm not claiming I can prove intentional overcharging. I'm saying the experience has left me uncomfortable.
For experienced tarantula keepers: Is this a typical approach to replacing DOA promotional slings? Would you consider this an acceptable resolution? I have 7 spiders atm and buy from a local breeder normally so I guess I'm not totally sure what normal is.

OL Lady got me this for a bday gift today. As she knew I've been wanting to get into the hobby and surprised me with this. The label said Brazilian Red & White. But When I googled it to look up the husbandry for it, it said it was a king baboon. Can't anybody help me identify it? Thanks in advance

Put pinktoe in her new enclosure today and noticed she has something white around her mouth. my macro lens didn’t like the glass and apparently I didn’t wipe it down enough before putting her in it. Is it something to be worried about?
I know she’s a bit too skinny, she had a roach a few days ago and then refused food before I moved her (why I decided to swap her, the roach ran under her webbing and I couldn’t get to it. plus she was renovating anyways)
Also do those look like spurs?? Is Tiger a boy?? She’s always been iffy with taking food. NOT a good eater at all. I often prekill things and hope she eats them.

Really obsessed with my baby! Her name is Wisteria Ignatius Gore, aka WIG. 💖
Don't mind the 99% humidity thing, I just overfilled her water bowl so of course that spot is saying 99%.

This young'n came out of a molt like 5 days ago. It was a long molt process and I know it's hungry hungry. Worried I'll come out one morning and find it curled up. So I'm asking the community here if her (suspected 'her', I checked the molt and at this size, it's super hard to tell but it looked like the female reproductive part I can't spell was present between the book lungs) fangs look hard enough for a section of mealworm. Let me know your opinions please! Pic on the moss is yesterday, pic on the coir is today.

So I have done my research but I want your guys' opinion as well, I will be getting my first T an 1.5 -2 inch A. Geniculata this weekend, what can I expect as a new keeper, any kind of help would be gladly appreciated.

I gave my LP (spb) THREE big mealworms in his little dish and when I came back to check on him, he had all three in his mouth. How did he even?
And then, of course, I startled him so he ran off with them. Thankfully, he built a burrow all the way down the side of his enclosure so I can see inside!
