So I used to play a lot of supreme commander 2 when I was a kid, and I’ve been looking for something like it to kinda scratch that itch. I’m wondering how it stacks up compared to the second game in both graphics and strategy?
Imo best navy is UEF because they have subs, longest range battleship and longest range cruiser I believe too plus more options than other factions like the battlecruiser, torpedo boat and shield boat. Atlantis is good and really cheap. Then probably Seraphim because they have the t3 sub hunter which is very powerful, their carrier is good for cheap anti air and the battleship can fire nukes. Aeon third because their battleship kinda sucks in practice but they do have the missile ship, experimental and specialized aa tier 1 boat, plus they can support their navy easiest with lots of hover units. Cybran last because nothing special.
For land its Aeon as the best and the other 3 pretty equal. Aeon have the tier 1 range on the tank which is really strong if you micro and the tier 3 shielded bot is strong and easy to use. Seraphim have the hover artillery and illashovah but their tier 3 tank is maybe the worst tier 3 land unit, it has a lot of hp and raw stats but slow and short range, only really good for direct assault. Uef is pretty good all around, titan is a good raider and perceval is really strong. But so is brick and loyalist tac missile return is really good.
Best air is Aeon imo because restorers are a strong option, UEF probably 2nd because they have the tier 3 transport close with cybran and seraphim last because nothing special and no tier 3 gunships, and ahwassha is pretty pointless strat bombers just seem better
When I am launching supreme commander from steam I was getting a direct3D error. I eventually got around this by running it in Windows 8 compatibility mode. It launched and I could start a mission. However in game I tried to increase the resolution from the video menu., This caused it to freeze and I had to use task manager to shut it down. However now when I relaunch with the same setting the 3d error has come back and it will not launch. Any thoughts?
I presume the devs originally planned to have the same landing/refueling system as the original game has? The Broadsword also has an animation called `aland01` which stows the turret away
So, my thoughts. A single Cyrban commander gates onto Lothall by accident, sees the evil the Empire is doing, and decides to single handedly wage a campaign against them. How long does it take for them to win do you think? They would be able to reverse engineer SW tech like the hyperdrive if they nab a starship.
Ive been playing this game casually years ago. Little bit of campaign, but also online. But never took it super seriously. Now after watching some streams and videos, Id like to start again, but play it properly. I already tried to play online 3vs3 and 4vs4. Could never find a match. The search in FAF simply never finds a match. It is because of my level or its normally? I saw that Steam shows almost 1k players online, so there should be players, right? Or FAF and Steam players are different player bases?
I first played SupCom before learning english. The instruction for Forged Alliance translated the DLC title to "In face of the enemy", and now I wonder if anyone else knows similar translations from their native translations.

The scale of this is something terrific. That something the size of a Ythotha can be built and sent to destroy it's enemies in literal minutes is insane, that it can be done in literal seconds with a proper T3 engineer production team and economy helping is just madness.
Mechagodzilla was built in about 5 years. If a protocrafter had his design blueprints then he would been built in less time than someone eating a breakfast, then start a production line of Mechagodzillas.
If you were to get transported into Supreme Commander universe, but you could pick the faction, tho you conserve your appearance, gender and etc, which one you would choose? And would you be in Supreme Commander FA or in Supreme Commander 2?
Would you think you could be a competent commander? Or would the thought terrify you? Would you start in one faction but migrate to another one? Would you try to stop Black Sun to not trigger at all and stop the Seraphim genocide from happening? Or would you allow Black Sun to happen, even after knowing how many people will die, just for a chance of true peace and unification based in the ending of Forged Alliance? If that ever happens, of course.
Been curious myself. There are a lot of Fanfics about a self-insert isekai of whatever fandom but with a ACU unit in their power, but tbf I think the SupCom Universe and the Infinite War are super interesting and could be very fun to write about.
I myself have been thinking of writing maybe a small story of the classic isekai, but going from a UEF cadet with no experience, to joining the Aeon after getting captured and ending up with the Cybran after seeing Avatar of War Maxon going in a genocidal rampage.
Something I've noticed while watching videos of other people play is that they have a hotkey setup different from mine. Namely it's letter keys for selecting units/buildings on factories/engineers, as well as some different ones for things like patrol and assist.
How do I setup the production hotkeys, and any tips on other stuffs?
As the title says, I'm having incredibly low fps when I try to use a second screen. I've messed with frame time, v-sync and even tried to just use split screen mode and stretch it over 2 monitors (that one ran into the issue that the side monitors I have are a lower resolution than my main monitor). Just kinda wondering if this is a known thing, if there are fixes for this, or just some help to get me in the right direction. Or even better is if there is a way to just throw my minimap on another screen lol.
