GR86 or MX5

Hello everyone,

Looking for advice when choosing between the MX5/GR86. I am 6 foot 2 inches and am looking for a car to enjoy some backroads/occasional autocross/ and future track use. Would love to know everyone's experience between the two platforms and which is best for longevity/durability and which is more an engaging driver's car.

Discussion I’m curious on what car i should look into eventually getting next?

I’m 18 and currently driving a little 2008 VW Rabbit with the 07k engine it’s been a great car but I’m looking to eventually get into something a bit nicer than my rabbit but I have no clue what I want I like VWs but I’ve always loved JDM and German cars in general I’d be fine with learning to drive manual or stick with automatic but I’d thought I’d thought reach out and see what what people think send me your ideas!

I’m looking in a budget around 15-20k

Which of the GR86, Supra, G80 M2, or M3 would be the best choice as a daily driver?

I’m not looking for financial advice; I’m hoping for meaningful feedback from people who have actually driven these cars.A new car; I'm not considering a used one.

Why is everyone talking about buying used cars?

Repair costs for high-performance vehicles are so exorbitant that fixing up these older models can end up costing even more than a new car.

Article Learning rally car aerodynamics looking for honest feedback on my Audi Quattro S1 writing

Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to this community, so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I've recently started learning about the aerodynamics of rally cars and, at the same time, writing about what I learn. My latest piece is an analysis of the Audi Quattro S1's aerodynamic development, particularly its rear wing and how the changes between the different evolutions affected the car.

I'm sharing it here because I've mostly received feedback from one reader so far, and I'd really like to hear from people who actually know rallying, motorsport engineering, or aerodynamics.

I'm not looking for subscriptions or promotion!!

I'm genuinely trying to figure out whether my reasoning is sound and where I might be misunderstanding something.

So if you read it, I'd really appreciate honest feedback such as:

- Did I explain the aerodynamic concepts correctly?
- Is there anything technically questionable or oversimplified?
- Did I miss something important about the S1's aero development?
- Is there anything that doesn't make sense from a rallying perspective?

simply: was it interesting and understandable, or did parts feel unnecessary/confusing?

The article is "Rally Racing: Audi Quattro S1 — An Aerodynamic Breakthrough", available on Medium/Substack.

Thanks in advance!

Dominance can mean different things—win percentage, pace advantage, reliability, or strength relative to the field. Which of these cars impressed you the most?

This sub is a joke. Discussion about fast cars that aren’t sports cars. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the mods don’t even have sports cars. BMW M240i and Audi RSQ? Get bent. Those aren’t sports cars.

I'm torn between a line-up of Japanese V8/V6 cars and a new-generation German car. I'm eyeing these 4 models, but each has its own distinct appeal, making it a tough choice. I’d love to get everyone's advice!

Best car for driving under 110 km/h

I live around twisty, bumpy coastal roads on Vancouver Island. I will rarely go above 110km/h and most of the time I'll be driving between 50-80km/h.

What would you buy for medium twisty roads?

Discussion Looking for opinions on my first sport cars

There is a couple of cars I’ve had my eye on as my second car and more of a weekend fun vehicle I have a small list that I would like some opinions on.

  1. 2021 M440I x drive coupe car has quite some milage 128k but the service history is rather good and the Inline six is an engine I trust alot (My daily car is a 745le that has never given me a problem) car is going for 25k.

  2. 2017 650i xdrive coupe only 65k miles and is going for 24k but this is more of a muscle/gt car and Ive have not heard the best of the V8.

  3. 2019 Jaguar F type R 84k miles going for 35k Im not that well verse with the jaguars but it is a car that is attractive from the way it looks to performance but not too sure on the reliability

  4. 2016 Lexus RC 350 AWD 83k miles going for 25k, this one is a car a know has great reliability but the performance seems rather lacking not sure if it would be a good sport car Atleast performance wise

Image Canadian Car Club Rally

So I was getting my 2020 Chevy Bolt charged at a gas station in Schroon Lake, NY last weekend.

Suddenly, I hear the roars of high performance cars all around my silent EV.

It was a Canadian Car Club on a rally into upstate NY and Vermont.

Premium cars!

They were led by a guy on what looked like an old walkie-talkie. Once everyone was refueled, they were off! Sounded like the start of the Indy 500. 🏎️🏎️🏎️

The lime metallic Aston Martin was my favorite. 🏁

Have any of you had a bad experience with true street motor sports in McKinney tx

I paid them to build my motor on my 6.2L supercharged Camaro, it took them 6 months and 30k dollars for my car to last 3 weeks and leave me stranded on the hw. They told me the torque converter bolts sheered off and that the motor is loosing compression on cylinder 1. They are not giving me a good feeling that they will do right by me. I feel like they’re going to blame the fuel pump for the failing compression and the torque converter for the failed transmission. Took them over a week to even start diagnosing my car. I feel like I’ve made a terrible mistake taking my car to this shop.
