Mod Post Petra Parker Posts
Update: They’re staying as is
Due to the current trend we are receiving lots of modmail, reports, and posts about Petra posts. While there are definitely users karma farming posting 5+ times a day, they have been contacted and told to make a collective post or be on a cooldown for 24 hours per post.
First thing, fan art Spiders is always welcome here. It’s only spam if the same image has been posted over and over. That has NOT been the case. We can’t be bias to a particular character fanart because that would be like someone posting any version of Spider-Man and saying it’s spam.
We have been trying to keep up with getting posts through, ignoring reports, and answering everyone’s questions about why a post has been taken down(usually due to report bombing). But it is building to quickly for the mod team to personally answer and review every single post as quickly as users would like.
So we are leaving it up to you all with a poll to decide how this will be handled going forward. We will either keep things as they are or move all Petra posts to a megathread that will be pinned.
If things stay as they are we will continue to ignore the report bombs and set automod to ignore reports on Petra since it’s clear the reports are being abused. Unless the post is breaking rules. If these posts bother you in anyway you can always hide them from your feed.
If the community chooses a megathread, we will create and pin the megathread and automod will be set to remove all Petra posts and direct the OP to the megathread. After one month megathread will come down and Petra posts will be back on main feed.
We have heard all kinds of feedback on the trend and we do not support any type of hate or discrimination, but we feel moving forward this will be the most fair outcome for everyone.
The voting will start today at noon and end Saturday the 22nd at noon. During the voting period things will stay as is.

Movies Spider-Man films still criminally underuse women from his mythology.
When I say this, I don't mean that they failed their love interests. I mean that the Spider-Man mythology has a lot of women and for one reason or another they just don't have the chance to be shown. There's no real role for women in Spider-Man films other than the guardian, which is just Aunt May, or the love interest.
It took until Into the Spider-Verse to have a Spider-Woman in Gwen Stacy and a female villain in Olivia Octavius taking the stage, and it took Brand New Day to finally incorporate Jean DeWolff who has a different role from the usual suspects. Hell even the Venom movies finally did something meaningful with Mrs. Chen being a human ally to Venom, but she's an OC created for those movies.
My burning take here is that Sony have failed a lot of them even worse than Disney and Fox failing their Marvel heroine, villainess and supporting characters by just not giving them chances and when they do they end up with some of the most bizarre creative choices like the entirety of Madame Web, or trying to rewrite Silk to pander to male TV viewers before ultimately canning the series.

Movies Spider-Man 2 was the first time my eyes were really opened to how tough Spider-Man truly is.
Between getting up after multiple hard, several story falls or crashing through or against anything around him while fighting Doc Ock, I remember being blown away as an 11 year old with how fast Spider-Man could bounce back.
Then I gradually learned about some of the stuff he overcame in the comics and I realized this was only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Spider-Man's durability.

Discussion The problem with Modern Spider-Man isn't that it is the worst thing in the world. But they aren't enjoyable. They don't lead anywhere. And overhall, they never have actually good for the character ideas or concepts.
So there has been controversy about the most recent run (Shocking I know), and while I can agree that the story isn't bad by itself... man its shit to read.
I will be blunt and honest here, modern Spider-Man isn't the worst thing in the world. There are good stories or moments there. But the problem is... its pointless. Because no matter if its shit or good, it will go nowhere, nothing will happen. And IF it happens, its just for the worse for Peter.
Besides, I'l be honest here, modern story lines are just terrible concepts. Concepts that you would think were forgoten back in 80s. But no, Spidey is having stories that are straight out of an parody.
And on top of that, Peter isn't having an over spaning arc, hell he never gets any Arcs or development. The stories will pretend he has... only for the next one to throw it out the window or the Arc when you look deeper really doesn't changing shit in Peter.
But above all, know why reading modern Spider-Man is such misery? Because its a torture p@rn. Yeah, straight up. This stories aren't made for people to develop, they are made to give him the most possible pain and miserythe book can have just for in the end for Peter to escape it.
Then it repeats, it repeats, it repeats, without Peter showing any actual evolution, to the point no sane person would find this possible.
Peter will have lucky or happy moments here and there, but they feel like breathing points in his ever shit life of torture. They don't feel like victories or earned stops, they are the writers giving those minor moments so they can say "See? Peter doesn't only suffer", its manipulation from the writers so you don't realise how realisticaly Peter is fucked.
Because from Superior to now, it has been less than 2 YEARS. Yeah, the comics time passing is so shit that from Superior to now it has been less than 2 fucking Years. Somehow.
So not only does Peter's life revolve only around suffering and pain, it also is one where he has had no time to breath in between story lines. Where he goes from one suffering to the next without any light of rest.
And above all... Peter is a terrible protagonist nowadays. Because he is just stringed and pulled along for whatever bullshit the plot brings. The reason they took Peter's backbone or mean side isn't because it wouldn't work nowadays, is so they can drag him around while he smiles during the pain so we think he is realisticaly fine.
Peter in the old days had moments the story dragged him to the plot. But a lot of times, he was proactive. Many times, the plot slowed or fastened acording to what HE did or wanted, so it many times felt like an fight between the story and Peter to see who had control of it.
And another thing that is crucial for us to understand, is that an bad premise can be well done. A lot of stories nowadays are just from bad to meh ideas that are done terribly or well done. Seriously, lets be honest here, what modern story of Spider-Man that has had an cool or creative idea, not execution but the IDEA, an idea that you would wanna see from the description alone be it well done or not?
So what we have are stories that are the most generic and 101 hero story ideas or absolutely terrible ideas that are well executed. But here is the thing, an shit idea well executed can be good here and there... but modern Spider-Man is full of them.
And above all, the single rule for any Peter Parker story line: Suffer. All his stories are about his suffering, his pain, not him as a character. Sure, you can say they explore Peter as a character, but they always do the same shit and achieve the same conclusions.
They don't enchance the character. They never give us an struggle that realistically would work with the character.
And I won't say old Spider-Man was perfect, it wasn't. There were a lot of shit stories or pointless ones too. But in the overhall, those stories could be forgoten or where just an minority. Nowadays? There are so many that you can't forget them, you are forced to remember them even when you don't want to.
So while I won't blame anyone for licking modern stories, I will always say that they aren't good for the character. They are fast food, sure is appetising for the moment but it will leave you wanting an actually good meal.
So go ahead, enjoy it. But don't let it be enough for you, ask for better stories, actualy good ideas that can be done great and are fun. Ideas that won't cause an war every time an issue comes out. And if you want better stories, don't be afraid to read older stuff, see why so many fans hate the state of the modern Spider-Man
So, what do you think? And please, lets not insult anyone that enjoys or doesn't enjoy this stories. We can hate on the stories, but never take that on real people, its not worth it and its just an shit move. Everyone is aloud to enjoy what they want, so don't go attacking anyone please.

Movies I love that Across set up that Miles's trust won't be earned again so easily for Gwen.
Obviously we still have to see how things play out in Beyond, but I love that Miles clearly has enough self respect that he's not just going to welcome her back into his circle so easily. I'm excited to see how they tackle that as we wrap up the trilogy.

Comics Sony gives you the chance to write whatever Spider-Man project you want with full creative liberty. What you do?
For me I‘ll do a Spider-Girl movie with Mayday trained by an older Peter Parker and becoming a hero. The main villain is Kraven The Hunter’s son, Vladimir Kravinoff/The Grim Hunter (2nd picture) Who After Kraven father died Years ago he goes to hunt her father and Mayday Parker.

Comics This issue was actually really good
People should stop complaining if they haven't read the issue. I love seeing Peter snap at people like the old days and him actually getting angry. I love seeing Mary Jane come by just to hug Peter to see if he is alright. I did not however like seeing Norman Osborn but I loved seeing a sort of conflict of morals with him and Peter. I am excited to see Peter beat the shit out of Cormac.
I hate Ric tho he's annoying as hell

Movies All differences in the MCU Spider-Man costumes
I made a similar post with all the Sam Raimi Spider-Man suits a few years ago and a remade version of it recently. I will make a post like this for the Marc Webb Spider-Man suits too after I finally figure out if the suit he wore in NWH is the same as TASM2's suit or not. Thank you to u/Charming-Composer160 and u/EnderGrape for helping me with the 2016 Homemade Suit. This is actually a repost with more information added.
The Raimi Costumes Posts:
-----------------------------
Not all the classic Spider-Man suits in the Raimi Trilogy are the same.
All differences in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man costumes (r/raimimemes)
All differences in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man costumes (r/Spiderman)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Homemade Suit (2016):
Well this is really obvious. This was this suit's first appearance and unfortunately we don't have many good looks at this suit.
1. It's just a simple suit with the red parts being just a mask, a red hoodie, some red on the gloves and web shooters and the boots and shoes. The blue parts just have a full sleeved t-shirt and pants.
2. The costume seems to have dark, dull reds and blues.
3. The eyes they used on the suit are fully black, have straps on the mask and the eyes don't seem to be emotive, though they are implied to be emotive.
4. The spider logo, while McFarlane inspired, it's not as McFarlane inspired as the 2017 version.
Homemade Suit (2017):
Now that we have a much better look at the suit (albeit a bit of a modified version), we can finally,
1. The colors are very much lighter and more vibrant, especially the blues.
2. The spider symbol is a very McFarlane inspired logo, even more McFarlane inspired than the 2016 version.
3. The red sections of the gloves have some black, comic style webbing on them. Overall the gloves are just black and red fingerless gloves (not a good idea for a person who wants to protect his identity).
4. The eyes got a major redesign as the straps on the eyes are gone and they are now black goggles with white lenses and expressive, mechanical frames that move along with his actual eyes. This is a unique aspect about Tom Holland's Spidey suits that carries over to all his later suits as well.
5. The web shooters are silver, bulky, comic style web shooters unlike the tiny ones from the Marc Webb suits which had designs unique to those films.
Stark Suit (2016):
This was a very comic book inspired suit with some minor MCU-fications to make the suit unique to this version of Spider-Man. This suit looks different in three of its five appearances.
1. The suit's webbing is a lot less prominent and they are shaped uniquely as the horizontal web lines are split into two, closely packed webs. They are shiny and slightly indented into the suit.
2. The colors on this version of the suit are the dullest out of all its appearances thought it could just be due to the grey color grading of the film.
3. Unlike its future appearances, the front spider logo is a lot flatter.
4. The extra black details are at their least prominent here. In the future appearances, they become shinier, slightly more raised and overall just much more prominent.
5. The back logo is a very comic inspired fat spider with the legs pointing down. It has a circular detail within it.
6. The web shooters are new, hi-tech web shooters. They're black in color and still a bit bulky but extremely streamlined compared to his previous web shooters.
7. His belt features prominent web cartridges which are seen for the first time in a Spider-Man film.
8. The blue parts have some tech details unique to this suit.
9. The belt is unique as it ends at a straight line instead of a traditional pointy tip or a curved belt like TASM2.
10. Something introduced by this suit is a dotted texture which replaces the hexagonal brick patterns from the Raimi suits and TASM2's suit and the honeycomb pattern from TASM1.
11. The expressive, mechanical eyes are back again, this time in a traditional Spidey style shape.
Stark Suit (2017):
While it's canonically supposed to be the same suit, it has some differences for some reason. This version of the suit returns in both Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
1. The colors are a lot more vibrant this time.
2. The tech details are more visible this time.
3. The extra black details have become shinier and slightly more raised and overall just more prominent.
4. The webs are less prominent this time compared to the previous suit.
5. The spider logo has become slightly more raised to give more emphasis on the fact that it's a small drone, something revealed in this film.
6. This suit has retractable web wings that comes out from the armpit area and reaches till the thighs.
7. When Instant Kill mode is activated, the eyes turn fully black with red glowing 'pupils' coming in, giving Spider-Man a threatening look.
Iron Spider (2017):
This is a very unique interpretation of the Iron Spider as it looks like the Stark Suit but with some major changes.
1. It's a nanotech armor, so it's a shiny, metallic armor.
2. The armor has a much different type of texture on both the red and blue parts.
3. It has much darker reds and blues and it has some gold details as well.
4. The logo is a dark blue, very Ben Reilly-inspired logo with gold rims on it.
5. The horizontal webs do not split up like on the Stark Suit and they are placed a bit differently, with some places like the shoulders not even having any sort of webbing.
6. When the armor is deactivated, the eyes are white unlike the later appearances.
7. The webbing is indented and dark red in color.
8. The extra details on the blue parts are raised.
9. The web shooters are much more streamlined compared to the Stark Suit. They also have some gold on them.
10. There are no exposed web cartridges this time like the Stark Suit.
Stark Suit (2018):
While still basically being the same suit, it has two differences compared to the Homecoming version of the suit, which is suit mostly is.
1. The eyes are a bit bulbous compared to the flat eyes from the Civil War and Homecoming versions of the suit.
2. The back logo lacks the circle shape from the previous incarnations of the suit.
Iron Spider (2018):
Another suit that's supposed to be the same as the one from the previous appearance, but looks a bit different.
1. The eyes were grey when the armor is deactivated unlike Homecoming where it was white and when it is activated, the eyes and some parts of the suit glow either a very bright blue, a slightly duller blue or a bluish grey.
2. The waldoes are not fully gold like in the comics as they have a bit of blue on them.
3. The web shooters change looks occasionally for some reason. Sometimes it's the streamlined version of the Homecoming web shooters. In Infinity War, the nozzles are shown to have red lights on them. Then sometimes it's the bulky gold gauntlets with the nozzle part of the gauntlets being black like the previous web shooter design and sometimes it's the gold gauntlets but without the nozzles. That part is just red. Odd thing to do.
4. The button for shooting the webs from the web shooter is sometimes a clear gray and sometimes it faintly glows blue.
5. The texture from the 2017 version of the Iron Spider was almost fully gone. They're only on the spider symbol now.
Iron Spider (Avengers: Endgame, 2019):
1. For some reason, the webs on the armor has become slightly more indented and has become black instead of the darker red from the previous looks of the armor.
2. While the glowing parts did glow bright, they also glowed a faint blue and the eyes glowed a faint red during Instant Kill mode.
3. The eye lenses have a dotted pattern on it.
Iron Spider (Spider-Man: Far From Home, 2019):
1. The webs are back to being dark red again and less indented than the Endgame version.
2. The glowing parts are a bit fainter than usual but still bright.
3. The colors of the armor has changed as they have become much more vibrant.
Night Monkey Suit:
Another super obvious suit here.
1. It's mostly just an all-black S.H.I.E.L.D. suit but with a fully covered mask, with the eyes being straight up Spider-Man eyes, with the white lenses being the only non-black part of the design.
2. He has fingerless gloves which make no sense as Peter doesn't want his identity revealed.
Bosco Suit (2019):
This is visually a heavily modified version of the Stark Suit, so there are some similarities.
1. The reds are slightly pinkish this time while the blue sections are changed to being black as a reference to Spider-Man's first appearance suit from Amazing Fantasy #15.
2. The webbing is back to having the split horizontal webs.
3. The red parts maintain the dotted texture but the black parts have a completely different texture that almost resemble grid-like webs.
4. The front logo has gotten a redesign. It's shaped a bit differently and has increased a bit in size and has some white details on it.
5. The back logo is now similar to the front logo instead of looking like a comic style logo and it's a fully white logo, seemingly inspired by the Insomniac Advanced Suit.
6. The bulky web shooters are replaced with just black web shooter nozzles with white details.
7. The belt has been streamlined as the belt just has two black bands on them instead of the cartridges being visible.
8. The arms are redesigned so much that there is barely any red on it. The hands have a fingerless glove look to them where the fingers are red but the palms are black.
Bosco Suit (2021):
This is canonically the same suit as the previous one but it has some minor differences for some reason.
1. The red section on the torso has narrowed down slightly.
2. The belt got a major redesign as the extra black details were taken away and the belt's shape was changed into a traditional, pointy tipped belt.
3. The front logo's white details are way more prominent now.
Iron Spider (2021):
This is canonically a remade version of the armor so it makes sense that this has some differences.
1. The armor has become very shiny and almost mirror-like.
2. The web shooter's buttons do not glow anymore.
3. The gold gauntlet-style web shooters are used here and the black nozzles are brought back this time.
4. The blue lights on the armor are not as bright as it was in some of its earlier appearances but still bright.
Black And Gold Suit:
1. This is just a black and gold version of the 2021 Bosco Suit. The red and blue sections are fully black while the black and white details (except for the eyes) are changed to gold.
2. The wiring and circuitry is visible here as the suit is now inside out. Though this raises the question, how did Peter actually wear this suit? Where did all the wires go? Could it be an uncomfortable suit to wear?
3. The right arm has a gold gauntlet that Doctor Strange made using the Iron Spider. This gauntlet allows Spider-Man to shoot a magic webline which can transport people into Strange's magic cell.
Integrated Suit:
Probably the most unique suit in the films yet due to how it was made. This suit is just the remaining Iron Spider nanites that were on Doctor Octopus' arms returning to Spider-Man while he was wearing the 2021 Bosco Suit.
1. The 2021 Bosco Suit gained some extra details. It has some gold details, with the biggest and most obvious one being the gold version of the Iron Spider logo. While the Iron Spider has a dark blue logo with gold trims, this one is the opposite as it's a gold logo with dark blue trims, making this suit look closer to the comic Iron Spider more than the actual Iron Spider funnily enough.
2. Unlike the 2021 Iron Spider, which was used for making this suit, the gold on this suit is rather dull.
3. The suit also gained some extra red details, which is strange, especially since they are matte and not metallic.
Final Swing Suit:
This suit represents the evolution of Spider-Man as he truly became Spider-Man. This suit is said to be inspired by both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's suits and you can see that a bit.
1. The split webbing changed to traditional, singular webs. They still maintain the shine.
2. Both the front and back spider logos are very reminiscent of Tobey Maguire's post-2002 red and blue front spider logos.
3. The black parts which originally replaced the blues on the Bosco Suit are now back to being blue, this time a much lighter and very metallic blue.
4. The textures are the same from the Bosco Suit as the red sections retain the dotted texture while the blue sections retain the texture from the black sections of the Bosco Suit.
5. The formatting on the torso is basically the one from the Bosco Suit but without the extra black details.
6. The arms are very traditionally done instead of the Bosco Suit's version where the arms barely had any red on them. Here they are done very traditionally. The bottom part of the blue part on the arms doesn't stretch till his forearm. It also slants down instead of going straight horizontally, similarly to TASM2's suit.
7. The concept art and promo art seems to be implying that the logo is actually a dark, gold type color, maybe a black coated gold logo? Not sure. Some people say it's just a gold shine, some say it's a gold/bronze logo. Who knows at this point?
Stark Tech (2016) Unused Suit:
While this suit was used during the shooting of Captain America: Civil War, it was covered in CGI and was made to look like the current Stark Suit and while this suit never had any physical appearances in any of the films, a photograph of it actually appeared in a blink-or-miss shot in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, making this suit officially canon in the MCU.
1. A notable feature of this suit is the thick, raised webbing. It seems to be even more raised than the raised webbing from Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man suits and Andrew Garfield's TASM2 suit. They're also not shiny at all and are rather matte.
2. The eye frames are very glassy and shiny, which is very interesting and it's never been seen in any other Tom Holland Spider-Man suit.
3. The colors are very much darker and the eye lenses are not as white and kind of a super light grey.
4. The front logo is a very John Romita Sr. inspired logo with the upper legs facing down, though the lower legs still maintain a slight bit of distance from the upper legs. The back logo is done a bit uniquely as the upper legs are connected to the head of the spider instead of the body.
5. The extra black details on the suit are done differently as they are a lot sharper and thicker than the final version of the suit.
6. The web cartridges on the belt has some red on the upper and lower tips.
7. The belt has the traditional, pointy tipped belt and doesn't have much webbing on it which is especially noticeable on the back.
8. The web shooters are very simplified and streamlined compared to the final version.
9. The tech details on the blue sections are very subtle this time and not very visible at time.
10. There seems to be no texture on this suit as the fabric seems rather thick and even kinda rubbery.
11. The face shell used on this suit seems to be a bit too round and rather ball-like.
Brand New Day Suit:
This suit takes some inspiration from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's suits like the Final Swing suit, but it's way more visible here, though the Andrew Garfield inspirations are way more visible.
1. The texture completely changed. From the dotted texture and the grid-like web type texture to no texture at all, this suit has gone back to basics and uses the hexagonal brick pattern from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man suits and Andrew Garfield's TASM2 suit.
2. The webbing is now raised and while it's not as raised as the Civil War Unused Suit's webbing, they're shiny like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's raised webbing and Tobey's NWH suit's webbing wasn't as raised as before and was more comparable to Andrew's TASM2 suit in terms of how raised the webs were.
3. The logos are modified versions of the Final Swing suit logos but this time the lower legs are longer like TASM2's logos. The front logo is also fused to the webbing on this suit. The legs have a slight bit more distance between each other, though the upper legs seem to be connected to each other in a weird way. But that could just be the webs. The back logo also has a black outline on it. The front logo's placement is also a bit lowered like TASM2's front logo, though it's not as lowly placed as TASM2's front logo.
4. The eyes are less expressive and also a bit bigger. The lenses are slightly clear as we can see Peter's eyes in some shots of the film.
5. The web shooters have gotten a massive redesign as they now kind of resemble shiny, silver door hinges and have tiny green lights on them. They are removable and Peter doesn't use them when he uses his organic webs in the film.
6. The formatting of the blue parts of the suit is basically just a modified version of TASM2 suit's format. Only the formatting of the boots were taken from the Final Swing suit. The chest and the back part right below the neck are basically curved versions of TASM2's formatting on those areas while the belt is curved like TASM2's belt but it still has a slight pointy tip unlike the fully curved belt from TASM2.
7. The webbing placement is done rather differently as some parts of the webbing are a bit closer than the others.
8. The blue sections, while still metallic, are not as metallic as the Final Swing suit and longer a fully metallic material. Instead, the hexagonal brick pattern on them is shiny like Spider-Man 3's Symbiote Suit (which was covered in the shiny hexagonal brick pattern) and TASM2's suit.
To conclude this, this was a very fun post to make. I had a blast making that post about the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man suits and I can say the same about the Tom Holland Spider-Man suits too. Now I just need to figure out if Andrew Garfield wore the same suit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in Spider-Man: No Way Home or if it's a different suit. Andrew says that it's the same suit while Sanja Milkovic Hays says that they had to remake both Tobey and Andrew's suits so I don't know who to trust and if this really is a remade suit or not. But overall, this was a fun post to make and I hope to make more posts like this.
