Hi all, i have a 670 Soundbase that developed a whistling sound that didn't change with output or volume. I didn't register or take care of it under warranty, and I was too cheap to pay for the fancy box and the service fee.
I took it to a local TV repair shop but a small microchip was faulty, something that's no longer manufactured.
I isolated the issue to one of the 3 woofers on the bottom that fire down. I figured why not try talking out that one woofer (there are two others)?
After using a fork to pull off the metal grate with the adhesive, I was able to remove the right woofer and tape up the remaining connectors with electrical tape.
I fired up the soundbar for a power test, 5 min on test, Bluetooth pairing test, and the whistle is gone. All I needed was a fork, a Philips screwdriver, and some electrical tape.
Posting here in case this helps others with a DIY fix, I couldn't find one myself online.
Note that I was okay with this frying as it was going into a landfill if I couldn't fix it, and this specific power supply was noted as being okay with an open load (that specific woofer had a separate power supply than the other two).

I have a Sony 90H 65-inch TV. My hall is 325 sq ft, viewing distance is 16–17 feet, and ceiling height is 11 feet (9 feet from the TV). I am based in India, and my budget is ₹25k ( little flexible )
I want a bass-heavy soundbar that delivers a thumping bass, as I mainly use the TV for music videos, particularly techno and house. A 5.1 channel setup is preferred, but not a priority. Currently, I use the default TV speakers.
I tested out the Sony HT-S40R, JBL SB590, and LG S65TR at max volume in showrooms. I personally liked the Sony the most for its bass. LG one was pretty good too, but wasn't a punchy as Sony.
Looking for suggestions, thanks!

For those using a Samsung TV + soundbar, do you feel Q-Symphony actually improves the sound, or is it better to leave it disabled?
Do you notice a bigger soundstage, better immersion, or does it just make the audio feel echoey or unbalanced?
I'd love to hear your experience, especially with the Q990 series. Do you keep it on or off, and why?

I have a TCL 77 inch OLED and the screen is amazing but sound is subpar. Watch it for almost only sports and movies. Best recommendations? Preferably one I can get before TNF tonight lol.

Finally, I’m pulling the trigger on the LG S65TR! 🔊
After going back and forth between different soundbars, switching from one model to another, and watching my budget climb from ₹15K to ₹50K, I’ve finally made my decision.
I’m going with the LG S65TR 5.1-channel soundbar system for ₹17,000 ($180), with 12 months of no-cost EMI.
But there’s another reason behind this decision.
Initially, I had planned to spend around ₹25K on a projector. However, after researching different models and comparing their picture quality, I’m beginning to feel that I might need to stretch my projector budget to ₹50K to get the kind of viewing experience I actually want.
My soundbar search became a rabbit hole of endless comparisons, specifications, reviews, and second thoughts. I started with a ₹15K budget, explored options costing much more, and kept wondering whether spending extra would be worth it.
Eventually, I stepped back and looked at the bigger picture; literally. 😀

Hi,
I have a 42in Bravia Sony XR 90j or whatever OLED.
I want a small sound bar to go in front of it.
It is in my bedroom, and I don't have room for much anything over 15in. If that.
Is there an optical/eARC device that Bravia will pickup and utilize for a pseudo surround experience paired with the TV speakers?
My parents have a Bravia 80k or 90k or something. Regular LED.
And they have a Roku streambar that the TV picks up as "TV sound system combined" or whatever the notification on the screen when the eARC is plugged in.
I just want to use the TV streaming system, and a bar to achieve a 2.1 or 3 ch psuedo surround I don't want to spend over 150 or anything crazy. Just enough to get better audio.
Im thinking getting a Roku streambar and juts not using the streaming part and plugging it into the eARC HDMI port the TV should combine the audio outputs.
Thanks!

One Youtuber named VFM also mentioned something like this about. I don't remember exactly.

Suggest me the best soundbar under ₹25,000 for my Samsung The Frame 65-inch TV. Dolby Atmos is a must, with deep bass, clear dialogue, and a theatre-like experience. Which brand and model would you recommend based on your real-world experience? LG, Samsung, Sony, JBL, or any other brand? Please share your suggestions!
Thanks

Ignore the mess, about to do a whole revamp on my setup inc. adding another monitor. Looking for recommendations on a decent sound bar maybe even a subwoofer for my desk setup. I know it's a downgrade from my speakers (arguable seeing as its Razer) but I use my DT990 pros mainly. Just considering soundbars for aesthetic, space, daily light use

The LG S95TR is currently available on Flipkart for around ₹51K with a card offer and 9 months of No Cost EMI.
According to price-tracking tools, its price dropped to around ₹46K during the last BBD/GIF sales. Since the S95TR is an older model now, I'm wondering whether its price could drop even further during the current sale.
Meanwhile, I contacted LG customer support and received a special discount for purchasing directly from the LG website. I'm getting it for around ₹46K, but without any No Cost EMI option.
My main concern is the EMI tenure. I'd prefer at least 18 months, and I've noticed that some soundbars occasionally get 18–24 months of No Cost EMI offers for a limited period.
The catch is that LG's special discount is valid only until tonight, so I need to make a decision soon.

I’m not sure if the behaviour I’m experiencing is normal or the sign of a fault.
If I put my ear very close to the top of the rears or the soundbar, when no sound is playing, I can hear a very faint amount of static/hiss. Adjusting volume doesn’t affect the static, or when muted.
From what I can see online, this could be normal and a byproduct of the built-in amp’s noise floor found in active speakers.
I’ve only had the bar a few days.
2 questions:
- can this faint static/hiss sound be considered normal behaviour for soundbars?
- to rule out if I’ve got a dud on my hands, would any owners of the JBL1300 MK2, confirm if they can hear the same?
Thanks
Edit 1:
Thanks to everyone who’s tested if they can hear a hiss on their unit.
Given no one else has experienced the same issue, I’m more certain there’s a fault here. I’ve raised with JBL for a replacement unit.

Hey all, the built-in speakers on my TV are honestly terrible. Dialogue in movies is way too quiet, and then the action scenes blast so loud I end up riding the volume button the whole time. I think it's finally time for a soundbar.
It's a 55" TV in a medium-sized living room, mostly used for movies, shows and watching football on the weekends, plus some music. I listen to a lot of hip hop and electronic, so decent bass matters, but clear dialogue is the main thing I'm after. I'm on Android, so being able to cast music to it from my phone would be a nice bonus. I'm not sure if I need a separate subwoofer or if a good all-in-one bar is enough for a room this size.
Budget is around $200-500, and I'm also wondering if it's worth waiting for Black Friday deals. What soundbar are you using, and would you buy it again?

help me decide whether it’s worth going for bar 500 pro for extra 10k
Use and listening
1. Lots of TV time, mostly shows and films, podcasts, documentaries, music
2. Wants good clarity for speech, dialogue and podcasts
3. Wants real bass, but balanced sound, not heavy on bass or treble
4. Likes sound that fills the room, so no tiny speakers
Setup
TV: Sony BRAVIA 3 55", with HDMI eARC
Room: 150–200 sq ft, seated 8–10 ft from the TV
Soundbar
Must have: HDMI eARC, good codec support, a dedicated centre channel for dialogue, and a wireless subwoofer
Budget: ₹20–40k, with room to go lower if it does a good job
Currently weighing the JBL Cinema SB590 (about ₹18k) against the Bar 500 Pro (₹27,499)

Hello, so I recently ordered a klipsch core 300 soundbar and I’m wondering what sub is good to pair with it? I’m a big open box guy lol so I have no problem with used hardware. My room is a bedroom and around medium to medium-large sized. My budget is probably under $300 thank you

Hey guys! I have this cozy little room for watching movies and playing video games. My current setup is a JBL Bar 800 Pro.
When watching surround content, I place the detachable rear speakers on the corners of my sofa, and I get a pretty good surround effect. However, I feel like I'm missing that immersive overhead effect when watching Dolby Atmos content.
Given the layout of my room, is the JBL Bar 800 Pro pretty much the best I can do, or would a different audio setup make a noticeable difference? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

EDIT: Thank you all for your two cents, with your recommendations I’ve decided to keep it and skip the sound bar!
Recently bought a 5.1 home theater setup but I’m having second thoughts about whether it’s worth keeping over something like the Samsung Q990H.
Current setup:
Denon AVR-X1800H
Polk ES15 fronts
Polk ES30 center
Polk XT15 surrounds
JBL Stage 220P subwoofer
Everything came to around $2,400 CAD and is still unopened, so I can return it.
The room is a basement media room, roughly 15.5’ x 15.5’, with an 83” OLED. Mostly used for movies, TV and some gaming.
I’m starting to wonder if I went a little overboard with the setup, especially considering the wiring, space and cost. The Q990H seems like a much simpler option and has Atmos support.
I know a proper home theater system is generally considered better, but I’m curious how big of a difference I’d actually notice between these two setups.
Would my current 5.1 system be noticeably better than the Q990H, or would I be better off saving some money and going with the soundbar?
Not really concerned about upgrading down the road. Just looking for good sound without spending more than I need to.
Appreciate any input, especially from anyone who’s used both.
