Let's Chat Talk to me about Medik8

Hi! New to this sub, but not crazy expensive skincare. I've seen a ton of recommendations for Medik8 and I'd like to try a couple of items, but I wanted to get input first.

About my skin: I'm 52, but people usually think I'm a decade+ younger. I had something my dermatologist called "a cross between rosacea and acne" (probably papulopustular rosacea?) and I got a script for that which helped immensely. Historically I was truly combination; oily/breakouts in some areas, dry in others, often dehydrated overall. Menopause is truly terrible, so I've been trying to figure out my routine again. The only product I'm somewhat sold on currently is the BioEffect EGF Serum, but the price is downright painful. I live in the Northeastern US and we're about to hit winter, so I don't want anything with hyaluronic acid.

I'd love to hear any recommendations you have! Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Product Question Can we talk about a new wave of probiotic skincare?

Hey peeps, I think it was on this sub? Someone mentioned new probiotic skincare products that move beyond basic fermented extracts to real microbiome skincare science. Anyone recommend a product you’re using to help restore barrier and protect skin from super dry/low humidity environment? I use Tret daily and it’s right at this time of year (in the northern hemisphere) my skin gets needy! Thank you!🙏

Let's Chat Any products that you use on both your face and body?

Does anyone else go through periods when they are overstimulated by lengthy routines and want to use a few products all over? Are there any products in your current arsenal that are multi purpose and help cut down on time and energy in your routine? I just love the idea of multi-use multi-purpose products that I am able to use on more than a certain part of my body. Thanks in advance!

I feel like everytime I try a vit c serum and put sunscreen and make up on top of it, it always flakes and looks weird. Does anyone have any recommendations on serums that dont do this?

Help/Advice Recs for lightweight moisturiser

I’m looking for a new lightweight daytime moisturiser that is really hydrating and plumping but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin or sticky. I’m currently using the Tatcha Dewy Milk and I quite like it especially for my skin that’s on the drier side (I use the Indigo Overnight Repair at night) but I sweat a lot during the day and it just feels really oily and uncomfortable.

Some of the things I’m looking for:
- Lightweight and non oily
- Hydrating and easy to blend
- Must come in tube or pump and not a jar
- Preferably fragrance free but fine if not

I have combination skin that’s leans dry but I sweat a lot during the day and am constantly in hot and humid environments.

Let's Chat What are your fave everyday cleansers + treatment cleansers? Do you use more than one?

Wanting to switch up my cleansers a bit and was curious to hear what everyone’s been loving recently! Does anyone use more than one cleanser? I’m interested in a basic every-day cleanser but also wanna hear about treatment/exfoliating cleansers.

Anyone use any treatment cleansers mild enough for daily use? Would also love to hear from anyone with rosacea!!

Curious more about second cleansers but also would love to know your fave oil/balm cleansers too!

Currently using Allies of Skin Silk Amino in the AM & iS Clinical Cleansing Complex in the PM. Anyone else a tad bit underwhelmed by the iS clinical one? Maybe I just haven’t used it long enough idk.

Lemme know your faves!!! Let’s chat 📢

Help/Advice Is layering Dennis Gross Retinol + Ferulic serum then cream worthwhile or redundant?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone here uses both DG Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Texture Renewal Serum and the Intense Wrinkle Cream together?

Wondering if its reccomended or beneficial to applying the serum first, letting it absorb, then layering the cream over it..? Not sure whether it's a legit stack or a "gross" waste?

This came out a not too long ago, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it yet. I love what Masque Vivant does for my skin so I’m wondering if this will give a comparable effect.

Help/Advice Recs for highly picky skin and consumer

Hi fellow skincare addicts! I am looking for recommendations at any price point (and willing to spend on things that meet my criteria), but within a very narrow set of parameters. Products I am wanting recs on are eye cream, general moisturizer, night cream, sunscreen, active (retinol/retinal, etc.), and then anything else you want to toss in that fits. Here are my extremely picky criteria:

-I'm mid 40s, so dealing with signs of aging and would like products that address that. My most obvious signs are loss of firmness esp around my eyes (and I have hooded eyes so the hoods are even droopier than usual), and deeper lines between my eyebrows and around my mouth.

-I have rosacea AND acne AND sensitive skin so I need products that don't flare any of those

-Must be cruelty free

-Must not be on the BDS list or subject to an active boycott over their practices

-Must be fragrance free

I have been using the products from a rosacea-specific brand, and they are ok. They don't cause any reactions, but they also don't seem to be doing much for me. I would love to know if you have found products that fit my list and work well! TIA!

Help/Advice Best nail/cuticle oil/cream/lotion/polish for very dry skin available in US?

Have noticed as I age that the skin around the nail bed on my hands and feet is very dry and flaky looking. My long time manicurist moved away and I have been going to someone else since June. She used to work in the salon where I went before but moved to one of those salon places here you rent your own room.

I bring my own polish which I have for many years but the other products have changed to whatever she is buying (file-remover-base/top coat-cuticle remover-etc) and I wonder if this could be causing an issue. I use Londontown Perfecting Nail Veil Polish. I do not use any base coat or polish on my toes so I really do not think it is my polish.

I don't want to hurt her feelings or anything and realize she is starting out on her own and likely buying inexpensive products but have no issue bringing my own stuff if needed. I only go for a mani.oredi once. month.

My hands are not in a lot of water and no more than usual. I have started using some cuticle oil I bought on Amazon nightly and sometimes in the morning as well. I use a glass file at home for touchups. I am trying to drink more water so I stay hydrated.

Any suggestions for nail treatment or repair or daily maintenance products or that I can bring with me that available in US that will help with the dry/ flaky skin? Thanks.

Help/Advice Running low on face cream - should I try something new?

Hi all! I have dry skin and I'm running low on my current face cream (Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Cream Rich). It works well, but I'm curious if there's something new worth trying before I repurchase. I have a hard time sticking to a routine so face cream is crucial for me as it’s the only thing I really consistently use. I’ve tried La Mer but it didn’t blow me away.

Let's Chat HG eye creams circles and fine lines

I feel like I have tried everything and nothing is making a difference with my eyes and in fact, I just bought Tatcha brightening eye cream and it makes my eyes look worse. I have very sensitive eyes, fine lines, and dark circles. The only thing that I haven’t reacted to is the elastin RSC eye serum however I’ve also not noticed that it’s done a single thing in 10 months of use. I also did not like the NIOD one that is recommended here as it irritates my eyes.

Suggestions?

Let's Chat Finishing oil, cream, or balm to seal in moisture this winter

Would love to hear you new or all-time favorite oil, cream, balm, etc as a finishing step to seal in your skincare during the dryer months.

I ruined my barrier six months ago and only just got it back to normal-ish. My current HGs are Neogenesis face wash, Neogenesis Recovery, Sisleya L'Integral eye cream, Sente Hydrate+ (mist + serum + mist), Sente Dermal Repair Cream.

I am considering the Le Prunier oil or the Valmont Pomade again but would love to hear your thoughts and reco! I can handle natural scent but prefer no heavy perfume.

Edit: I ended up getting the Sweet Chemistry Oil-Serum! The ingredients and approach felt most aligned with my needs. Thank you all for your recommendations.

Help/Advice Help me find my Lux routine

Hello people of reddit!

I’m asking you to help me find my perfect medical grade routine for acne prone, clog prone oily but dehydrated skin. My pores are really large and noticeable. I always look dull and tired.
I am 30 years old so I don’t have a lot of wrinkles. My most problematic area is my under-eye area. It is dark, dry, hollow and it does have some lines. Not sure if that lines are wrinkles or dehydration lines.

I live in Europe so my options are kinda limited.

Help me find my cleansers, treatments and the most important - EYE CREAMS.

Thank you all in advance ❤️

Help/Advice Struggling with fine lines on cheeks

I don’t have a good photo but essentially I have very fine lines on my cheeks that are especially evident when I smile. My aesthetician said I’m dehydrated. I have tried so many things. Nothing works. My skin is chronically dry and it’s genetic. I have dry skin all over and so does my family. Also have mild rosacea.

I use:

is clinical hydra cool serum, dr Loretta intense replenishing serum, is clinical reparative moisture emulsion, and biossance squalane oil.

My only actives are medik8 level 1 retinal 1-2x a week and the is clinical peel pads 1x a week

I’m taking a break from actives right now to see if it helps but it’s not. Is there something I don’t know about that might help? TNS serum? Heard it’s good for wrinkles and thought it might plump these lines, or maybe Ptox?

Before you ask: I’ve tried diuex instant angel and it broke me out. I’ve used dr. Jart ceramidin and liked it but hated the fragrance and felt it was also breaking me out.

Hi, I am looking for an OTC retinoid. I have used tretinoin/differin/altreno and my skin is just too sensitive. I get dermatitis every time.

I have been looking at AlphaRet and Hydrinity retaxome. Has anyone compared the two? Or as anyone tried the dieux retinal? Also open to other suggestions.

Thanks!

Help/Advice do i invest in a red light mask or a red light panel?

hi everyone!

i really want to invest in a good red light mask or a panel that actually works and is strong enough to make a difference.

i’m 26 years old and i want to improve my skin. specifically prevent fine lines, stimulate more collagen and deal with hyperpigmentation and acne scars (pigmented kind). the skin concerns aren’t limited to my face but also my back.

i’m new to skincare gadgets and really want to learn more. i’m thinking a panel would be more worth it if i want it for the rest of my body too, but is it less effective?

what brands do you guys recommend, and how do i know when picking a gadget if the light is “concentrated” enough for it to work?

thank you in advance!

Product Question ce ferulic vs isclinical genexc

Has anyone tried both of these products and can speak to how they compare? I’ve always seen rave reviews for ce ferulic but have recently been impressed with isclinical products.. My skin is combination/dry, mid-30s.

Below is comparison info from google/AI.

SKINCEUTUCALS CE FERULIC
Vitamin C Concentration: 15% pure L-ascorbic acid [1]
Key Supporting Ingredients: 1% vitamin E, 0.5% ferulic acid, plus added carnosine and endophytol in its updated formulation.
Primary Focus: Environmental protection (free-radical defense), firming, and brightening for normal, dry, and sensitive skin types.
Reputation: Widely considered the gold standard benchmark for daytime antioxidant serums.

ISCLINICAL GENEXC SERUM
Vitamin C Concentration: 20% L-ascorbic acid
Key Supporting Ingredients: Signature Extremozymes, kakadu plum extract, and mixed fruit acids.
Primary Focus: Advanced anti-aging, boosting elasticity, firming, hydration, and gentle smoothing/brightening.
Reputation: A higher-concentration option that pairs high L-ascorbic acid with enzyme technology to revitalize stressed or aging skin.

Key Differences
Potency: GeneXC features a higher percentage of vitamin C (20%) compared to C E Ferulic (15%).
Technology: C E Ferulic relies on the classic, clinically-validated C+E+Ferulic antioxidant synergy, whereas GeneXC utilizes iS Clinical's proprietary Extremozymes and botanical fruit acids.
Skin Suitability: C E Ferulic is heavily favored for dry or sensitive anti-aging needs, while GeneXC targets comprehensive revitalization, radiance, and elasticity.
