UCL BA Creative Arts and Humanities or English?

I'm currently a Year 13 student and am hoping to lock down all my course options in the next few days. I know I want to go to UCL and hopefully get the international scholarship, but I am stuck between two courses. I want to go into the film industry, hopefully as both a writer and director. I really love english literature, and am currently studying it at A level.

I haven't found much online about Creative Arts and Humanities, so I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on the course at UCL? I know its quite far away from the main city, which is a bit of a downside but not that big of a deal.

Any thoughts would be completely welcomed!

Got an E in the mock, B on results day.

It’s never too late, I even procrastinated revision for a month after the mocks and still pulled through. Not that a B is crazy good, just a reasonable grade in contrast to the mocks. Don’t let the mocks be the end all be all.

3 or 4 A-levels (aspiring software engineer)

Hi,

I am considering maths, further maths, computer science, history and french at a-level as I want to go to Oxbridge/Russel group/Ivy league unis for a computer science degree and become a software engineer.

I am certain about maths and further maths, but I am stuck between Comp sci and physics as a third (definitely not both as I will prob. burnout) and possibly french or history as a fourth.

Should I take 3 or 4 a-levels, and which should I take?

For context I am planning to achieve g9 in all of them and I find them to be my strong subjects, with history being my least strong subject from these options.

**EDIT: My computer sci teache said maths, FM and comp sci is ok but physics ontop of that would burn me out due to the intense workload from FM and the computer science programming project**

Thank you, all advice is appreciated :)

How much do I need to study to get 3As?

Basically i want to get 3 As at a-level and if I get even more than that maybe 1 a star or so even better. I take maths chemistry and biology but they all go hand in hand to be honest so while revising chemistry I'm also doing a bit of biology.

I'm in year 12 and I js started, im almost a whole half term in I travel like 40mins via the bus to get to school which is well worth it because the education is better and I have a weekend job where I work a couple of hours on friday and saturday evening.

my teacher told me that I should quit my job and just for chemistry he recommendeds studying 21 hours 🙃 is that true? Is that what I have to do to get As? I know its not about how much time you spend but you you spend it, but still

Worth applying to UCL for MPharm?

for my predicted grades i JUST meet the entry requirements of AAB.
I got an 8 in gcse english lang and 7 in maths.
I was wondering if it was realistic for me to try apply there or if i should consider somewhere else and not waste a spot getting rejected straight up.

Rate uni choices

Hello! I am taking the LNAT in December. I’ve been preparing for 2 months and have been getting around 27 on most mocks and I believe I’m able to improve further. However, as I’m an international student and English is not my first language, I don’t really feel that confident with Section B (working on it tho!). My predicted grades are 3A* (and full marks in a law-related EPQ). I’m currently trying to balance out my uni choices between reaches and safeties, as I’m really anxious that on the day of my test something will go wrong and I’ll bomb it. Could you please tell me if this is a good list and if Warwick and QMUL are respected? At this point I really don’t know if I’m underestimating myself, I’m just really really scared. It’s so unfair we can’t get the results before submitting UCAS. For context, I’d love to pursue international criminal law in the future, and work in NGOs, etc. (I know this is very far-fetched tho haha) Also, I’d really love to stay in London because of the job market but I also like the city.

KCL LLB
KCL PPL
LSE Anthropology and Law (My PS is really tailored to this one, and yes, I have an equal interest in both subjects)
QMUL English with European Law
Warwick English and French Law

Thank you!!

[chemistry CONCEPTUAL resources for Y12 A* student?

So I found Unit 1 fairly easy, and papers were fun too once you got the hang of them. I particularly loved the bonding section, and I understood it really well.

Now I'm doing Unit 2 (energetics/physical chemistry), and... it's not that I don't understand it... I think if once I'm done with the syllabus and start the papers, I will score well on the papers... but I don't feel the same confidence in these topics as I did with unit 1. I wasn't the best at energetics and physical chem in IGCSE either.

Maybe I'll get better at it after I'm done with all the topics, or after I get some practice in.. but I was really hoping to get a really deep understanding of chemistry since it's my best subject so far. I want to aim as high as possible in the exam, and tutor students next year as well. So I don't like the lack of comfort I'm feeling with the unit two topics.

I tried watching some videos online, but I can't find any that really explain in the intuitive and conceptual manner that I usually learn. Most videos, and textbooks, are very to-the-point. I searched both my particular board (Edexcel International), as well as using general keywords without any boards or classes like "year 12" etc. Nothing is as good as, say, Professor Leonard in maths. Same for textbooks.

I wonder if you guys have suggestions? Any resources, books, channels? I don't care which curriculum or board it is as long as it explains the concept well.

Thank you so much!

Teacher won’t boost predicted grades

It goes as the title says. I need an A for Oxford but my teacher is predicting me a B. What do I do? For context my history is C, D, C , B, B but I’ve been crazy sick all year and will be getting extra time in the real exam, but haven’t had any mocks with extra time.

I was kicked out of college, what are my options?

I'd like to make it clear immediately that I wasn't removed for any bad behaviour or anything like that, but I have untreated audhd (very recently diagnosed so I am in the process of finding the right councillors/medication for me but this obviously takes time) and it was making keeping up with the intense a level workload incredibly difficult for me (especially considering that I was doing physics a level 😭). College eventually decided that they didn't think they could accommodate me and kicked me out, strongly advising I reapply and restart year12 next year.

The thing is, though, there are obviously another 10-11 months until the next year of year12s begin and I don't want to spend that year doing nothing. Whilst right now my aspirations are to do a levels, I'm not completely closed of to any other options though I know for a fact (and this will not change) that I would like to end up at university. Its also highly important to me that whatever I end up doing I'll be surrounded by peers/be able to maintain a social life because I've done homeschool before and it was so so incredibly lonely, and also had a negative impact on my social skills (which are already lacking slightly due to being autistic). I am quite intelligent and good at learning, it was more the fast paced nature of the a levels which caused me to struggle as opposed to the actual content.

What could I do for a year? Or is there anything other than college worth considering? Any advice would be highly appreciated, thank you for reading
