I know many who claim they Republican because they intentionally refuse to capitulation the title to MAGA. Conservatism and Republicanism existed long before MAGA and will exist long after MAGA.

Maybe so, but in this decade and the last one, they exist together. Unless you're voting against Republicans, you're actively or passively MAGA

there are plenty of anti Trump conservatives, but at this point they shouldn’t call themselves republicans. The Republican Party is MAGA. They have thrown their unwavering support behind the president. There are only a small handful of republican politicians who don’t bend the knee to Trump and they are doing everything they can to drive them out of the party.
