"Focusing on what you can control" isn't a way out. No amount of budgeting or scrimping will help when the cost of just keeping a roof over your head, gas in your car, and food in your belly wipes out 90-110% of your pay every week. Yeah you should avoid excessive spending if you're in a pinch, but a lot of people are in dire enough straits that nothing fundamentally improves without actual systemic change.

Giving up one $6 mocha per week is not solving the median rent in your city being half your income.

U know what's sad? No systematic change is coming. We just keep going further and further right

I don't want to go full doomer and say no change is coming. As soon as you give up hope that anything can ever get better, you might as well crawl into the dirt and wait to die. We should keep fighting for things to get better, but they won't get better if everyone just gives up.
