And what a culture shift! I was in a hotel by myself waiting for an elevator. I excitedly told a kid standing there (maybe 23 years old)—“I’m dying and have to tell someone the Brewers just pulled ahead of the Dodgers & I think we are going to win!” He turns to me and says “Oh…how much you have on it?” Reader…I’m a 56 year old woman! lol He didn’t even consider I was excited….as a fan!?
And I think legally they have to have that there so I’m not even giving them any credit for that and even if it’s not a law, it’s there cause they’re legal departments like we gotta be able to point something when the lawsuit start
Like if they’re gonna have commercials for it, it should start with like 20 seconds of somebody saying how sports gambling destroyed their lives and then they should be able to do 20 seconds of like yeah but you still want to do it
Generally, I’m not one for policing morality or choices made by adults, but we know gambling is bad for pretty much everybody. Who does it
I had a friend who did those online gambling apps and he actually got good so they started letting him only make one dollar bets and he was still winning so they told him he couldn’t play anymore
But when he was losing beforehand, they never came on and said you can’t play anymore
And for good reason! Gambling corrupts the integrity of sports. There are already many examples of this that we know of, and I’m sure countless that we don’t. But money is all that matters anymore in America.

Yeah it's wild to think when I was growing up sports kept its distance from gambling
