My conspiracy theory is that big pharma companies buy ad space to discourage networks from reporting on their numerous FDA approval withdrawals, lawsuits for knowing severe side effects, or other shady stuff they're up to.
There's 5 or 6 companies that own every network you and I have ever heard of, so they don't really need to buy ad space on too many channels.
I broke down and bought ad free Amazon a couple years ago because I was tired of watching the same HIV medication commercial every time while watching after midnight. Why was that their choice for late night ads??

The medical ads are the worst part...nonstop talking about disease and horrible side effects.
