Casual Thought We have child geniuses who can do complex math, play instruments beautifully, and play chess at an adult level, but somehow we almost never see children stand-up comedians.

This is actually so self evident that the guy who posted this is just like “huh I had half a thought, let me run and post it on the internet!” Like I get that’s the point of the subreddit but if you spent an additional 6 seconds thinking you’d realize this isn’t a worthy consideration (which op prob did but decided to post anyway)

I'm not sure if you're saying it should be here because that's the point of the sub, or it shouldn't because it's an incomplete thought.

Either way, it's sparked some pretty good discussion about what makes comedy relevant to an audience; and how having experience does not automatically mean someone will be good at comedy.

All good discussion starts with an incomplete thought

Yeah I wouldn't say the observation is so self-evident as to be unworthy of saying out loud or discussing.

The reason may be obvious once someone says it, but the follow-on is kinda interesting: there are some professions for which professionals have to have a breadth of knowledge and experience, not a depth
