Sorry I thought I had done this earlier, but I think I messed it up. Should be on the sidebar on desktop and on mobile three dot menu. Lmk if you have issues. It's not exhaustive, but it has many. Feel free to put in requests for new ones and for color changes.

Mod Shark Power Detect Posts

For some reason, a number of bots have been spamming our subreddit with posts about the shark power detect. I'm honestly not sure what's going on with that. They are often written extremely similarly, so I'm confident it's not a random coincidence. It feels like it would be pretty petty for shark the company to be hiring bots to do this, but the posters also don't have affiliate links, so I'm not sure what's up. Regardless. I'm issuing a temporary ban on those posts.

I have set up some filters (which I won't describe here for fear of getting circumvented). If you see them getting through, please let me know so I can update the filter.

I'll also say, if this is Shark attempting to do this. If the filters get circumvented and I have no other choice, I may just start to ban all posts containing any references to shark to cool the bots off. I really don't want to do this, so whoever is posting this, you're going to end up hurting the vacuum in the long run by doing this.

Shark Vacmop not connecting to WiFi/ gets disconnected

• Upvotes

Making this post for anyone who is facing this issue or will face in the future.

For the good part of last year, I have been dealing with my shark vacmop AV2001WD getting disconnected from wifi or not connecting at all at times. I deleted the vacuum and re-added it multiple times and the issue continued. So I just used it without the app, using the clean button on top.

Today I wanted to figure out how to fix this and spent a couple hours and got it working perfectly again. Make sure you follow these things:

  1. It only connects to 2.4Ghz WiFi networks, so make sure your router has this.

  2. Mine had it but still never connected to it, the reason being the security mode. My 2.4Ghz network was set on WPA3 which was the issue. Change your WiFi settings to keep “WPA2” mode. As soon as I did that, the shark connected in 30 seconds.

I hope this helps someone in the future!

Looks quite impressive can't lie, when you compare it to Dyson Nurovi R2 that's actually priced £50 more in UK

Are self cleaning robot vacuums actually less work, or just different work?

last weekend i was on the floor again, cutting hair out of my vacuum brush with scissors. tbh, i almost threw the whole thing away lol

we both work full time, have a 2 year old and a long haired cat, so weekdays are basically a lost cause. by the weekend, the dust bin is full and brush is covered in hair.
so i’ve been looking at robot vacs with self cleaning docks. they look great in the ads, but do they save work?

do the mop pads stay fresh after being washed? how often do you have to empty the dust bin with a hairy pet? and between cleaning the dock, refilling stuff and emptying everything, are you actually saving time?

if you have a kid and a cat, has a robot vac really made your life easier?

Thinking about getting a robot vacuum this Black Friday — what should I look for?

Hey everyone! With Black Friday coming up, I’m thinking about buying a robot vacuum, but the number of brands and models is a little overwhelming.

For those who own one, what would you pay the most attention to if you were buying again?

A few things I’m trying to figure out:

  • Is a self-emptying dock worth the extra money?
  • Are the mopping features actually useful, or would you prioritize vacuuming performance?
  • How well does obstacle avoidance work with things like cables and socks?
  • How much cleaning and maintenance does the robot itself need?
  • Are replacement parts, app reliability, or customer support things I should worry about?

I’ve been looking at brands like Roborock, Dreame, Eufy, and Roomba, but I’m open to others. Would you recommend yours, and is there anything you wish you’d known before buying it?

Also, any tips for telling a genuinely good Black Friday deal from a price that’s been marked up and “discounted”?

Thanks!

Am I Too Rough?

I’m about to return my second Roomba 505 plus combo. I’ve had the following issues:

-cracked water tank
-shredded suction intake chute
-constant clogging of carpet fuzz
-erased maps and re drawn maps
-automations not working
-roller brushes shredding
-app freezing or missing various things like the name and serial number

I have a big household, no pets, and I pick up potential problem items (legos, bark chips) but sometimes I miss one and that causes the tears in the chute. I’ve found the roomba helpful even despite all the issues we’ve had but I’m starting to wonder if our household is just too rough on robot vacuums. That still doesn’t explain the software issues I’ve had since the update though.

I guess my question really is, is there something better out there?

What would actually make you upgrade your robot vacuum?

I've had my robot vacuum for a few years now, and I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade.
The vacuuming is fine, but the mopping barely does anything. It goes over the kitchen floor, and I end up cleaning the same spots by hand, especially around the stove where food and grease get stuck.

I've been looking at newer models with roller mops, but I'm not sure how much of a difference they make.
For those who've upgraded recently, what was the main reason you decided to switch?

Robot vacuum shopping for hardwood with a bunch of area rugs

Kids are asleep & I’m on night 14 of robot vacuum reviews right now!! Downstairs is all hardwood with three area rugs (low pile under the dining table, a medium one in the living room + a shaggy one in the kids room that is NOT up for discussion) and upstairs is carpet. Two kids and a dog means Cheerios and sippy cup spills on the hardwood EVERY DAY!

The suction numbers all blur together at this point. What I want is a mop that isn’t pushing dirty water around the kitchen & carpet that gets more than one quick pass. eufy e35 is the one I keep coming back to, so yeah that’s where I’m leaning! Mostly worried about the shaggy rug tbh

Looking for a reliable robot vacuum cleaner for Indian households. Any recommendations?

Hey everyone!
Looking for a robot vacuum cleaner for my home in India and would love to hear recommendations from people who are already using one.

I’m looking for something that:
Works well in Indian households, especially with dust and daily cleaning.
Has both vacuuming and mopping capabilities.
Offers good build quality and long-term durability.

Has reliable after-sales service in India.

I’m more interested in quality and long-term performance than fancy features.
If you’ve been using one for a while, I’d love to know which brand/model you have and how long you have used it.
Also, are there any brands or models I should avoid?

Thanks in advance!

Is it normal that my deebot x9 pro uses 40% battery for cleaning 36m2?

My flat is in total 58 m2 big but due to furniture the robot can not reach everywhere. I saw that it used 40% of its battery for cleaning the room. According to the protocol it cleaned 36 m2.
That feels like a lot to me.

Retired S6 Maxv - Looking for a reliable Roboter

Country Switzerland
Budget 1200 CHF

I bought a Roborock S6 MaxV in early 2021 and ran it once a week. It did an okay job overall, although the mopping function was pretty much useless. Still, it got the partly the job done.
Last year, it started having navigation issues, even though I cleaned and maintained it every couple of weeks. I’ve now decided to sell it. I originally paid around $500 and ended up selling it for about $80.
We have a mix of parquet and stone flooring. The S6 MaxV also struggled with bathroom rugs, frequently got stuck in the kids’ room with toys, and had trouble avoiding cables.

I’m now looking for a robot vacuum that requires as little maintenance as possible. Ideally, it should handle different floor types, navigate around rugs and cables reliably, and run without constantly getting stuck or needing my attention.
Has robot vacuum technology improved enough to solve these issues, or are we still not there yet? Is there anything on the market that genuinely delivers a mostly hands-off experience?

robot vacuum for 3 kids and a shedding dog?

I’m stuck between a few options: Mova p10 gen2, p70 , v70. Roborock qrevo 2 pro, saros 20, and qrevo curv2. Yeah, I know that’s a lot... I’ve overthought this.

I have three kids (5–16), a small dog that sheds like crazy, and usual food crumbs and mess. I need good obstacle avoidance for toys, cords, and especially dog poop. Edge cleaning is also really important to me, so an extending mop or edge brush is a big plus. And I really need something that won’t get hair tangled up. I had a Roomba before but returned it because the anti-tangle wasn’t good enough.

I keep seeing good things about Roborock, and they seem pretty well-rounded. I also like mova’s 3yr warranty, but I’m a little hesitant since there’s less discussion about them.

Price isn’t really an issue. I just want to buy once and be done with it... What would you guys go with? Open to other suggestions too.

How often do you clean your robot vacuum’s brush?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've had my robot vacuum for a while now, and I hate how much hair gets wrapped around the main brush. It picks up hair from the floor fine, but getting it all off the brush is such a pain.

I've been looking into different brush designs lately. Some people say they barely touch the brush for a week or two, but mine always needs cleaning.

How often do you guys clean the main brush? Has that changed over time?

Attention all Mova Z70 UK owners - Warranty at risk

Did anyone else order a Mova Z70 ‘brushed metallic’ model and receive the ‘stone panel’ version instead? I believe Beam Group is the only UK supplier/distributor.

Despite comparison pictures their managers were adamant that I received the metallic version. I got in touch with Mova Global to check the serial numbers (below), who unsurprisingly confirmed that it is in fact stone, not metallic. Apparently metallic isn’t available in the UK at all, despite being advertised across several UK retailers.

The biggest concern is how this may/may not impact the warranty seeing as the information on the machine and the order confirmation don’t match - Any advice welcome

Stone S/N: R5765L
Metallic S/N: R5766H

3i P10 parts/service

Last year I amazon vined a 3i P10. its a fantastic step up from what I had before but I need to replace some parts like a broken water tank and probably the hair cutter. Any idea how? Support is like "just email this link <random address> and they will take care of it." Any other sources of parts for this?

(yes, I sent them an email but its been like 10 minutes and they haven't responded yet)

Using distilled water in a robot vacuum

Post image
17 Upvotes

I live in West Texas where the water is very hard. Does using distilled water in your robot vacuum help longevity by avoiding hard water mineral deposits building up in the robot? I have read some people get empty water tank errors when using distilled water because the sensor needs some minerals in the water to detect the water level. What are your experiences with using distilled water? I have a Mova P10 Pro Ultra (Gen 2).

Looking for advice on buying my first robot

I live in an apartment in Mexico with plywood floors and have two dogs: a schnauzer and a Frenchie. Honestly, it’s been absolute hell because they constantly relieve themselves on the floor instead of using their designated bathroom areas. I’ve been looking for a robot vacuum to help manage the mess, and Im about the Samsung Jet Combo AI , it’s for sale for around $1,000 USD. Do you recommend buying it, or should I consider a different model? Please keep in mind that tech like this is highly expensive in Mexico, availability is limited, and there aren't many retailers to choose from.

are robot mops cleaning the floor, or carrying dirty water into the next room?

I went over a sticky spot under the dining table twice yesterday, and the mop water was still gross afterward. Now I'm wondering what happens when a robot mop hits something like that and keeps going across the kitchen. How much does it pick up, and how much ends up traveling along with the mop?

I've been looking at the HydroJet 2.0 roller mop on the eufy E35, which cleans the roller while it's mopping instead of waiting until the robot gets back to the dock. That sounds useful for exactly this situation. I'm still trying to figure out how much dirty water gets picked up versus left behind, though, and how that compares with spinning pads.

I care less about whether the floor looks shiny and more about what happens after the mop goes through something sticky. Has anyone compared the two designs on a kitchen mess and checked what gets left along the rest of the route?
