Discussions Please read the rules before posting!
This subreddit was one of first places on the internet that advocated for a paradigm shift to remote work in western society.
We support you in your quest to break free from being a captive office employee; but we cannot allow for-hire or self-promotion posts. There are 144,000 subscribers who don't want their reddit feeds filled with people posting their individual life situations.
If you want to create a discussion post about a specific industry or job role, that's okay; but any post with your own resume, your own professional background, or your own career status, is considered self-promotion and will be auto-deleted by automod or caught by the mods.
Subscribers:
If automod or the mod team misses any kind of self-promotion or spam, please report the post.
Job hunters:
The best way to find a remote job always has been this:
1.
Research job roles that match your skills. Use job boards (Indeed, Google Jobs, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) to exhaustively search all the keywords that are relevant to you. Study all job postings to understand the job market.
2.
Figure out which of those roles are feasible for independent work outside of an office. Many job postings will give hints with location agnostic phrases or multiple cities, even if they don't outright say remote.
3.
Determine what you need to do to qualify yourself for those roles, or how you need to revise your resume to match better to the job.
4.
Are the remote versions of those jobs available to everyone or only to the people who have mastered the job role? Are you prepared to work in an office until you earn the trust to work independently from home? Do you have a plan to work in an office to become an expert in your field and then hop to another company that supports remote work? Answer those questions and formulate a plan of action.
5.
Keep studying the job market to understand what employers want and how you can provide it.
6.
Keep applying to all jobs that are within reach! It is rare for a perfect match so aim for jobs that match your skills by at least 70%.

Current Events I could use some encouragement and advice about my remote work career
(Long post; TL;DR)
Hi everyone! I'm a 29-year-old woman living in Mexico, and I'll be turning 30 in about two months. I'd really appreciate your advice, especially from people who have been in a similar situation.
Since graduating from university, approximately 90% of my work experience has been remote, either as a freelancer or an independent contractor.
Over the past two years, I've been going through a very difficult period in my personal life. I moved out of my parents' house after years of a very complicated family relationship. There were situations in which my own safety was at risk, and I eventually reached a point where I needed to leave.
I moved to another city to live with my sister and her family, but that situation also turned toxic. I constantly had to deal with criticism, demeaning comments, and mockery from my brother-in-law. My sister also contributed to that environment at times.
About a month ago, I moved to another city again to stay temporarily with a friend after going through another severe depressive episode.
All of this has taken a significant toll on both my mental and physical health. I've been dealing with anxiety, possible PTSD symptoms, sleep problems, persistent fatigue, and various physical symptoms. There have been periods when simply maintaining a routine and keeping up with my work responsibilities felt incredibly difficult. I've been feeling emotionally better lately, but I'm still trying to regain my stability.
Professionally, I currently have a freelance contract for a remote project, but it will probably end in December. I've been looking for new opportunities for about seven or eight months, and honestly, I'm tired of the uncertainty that comes with freelancing. I want a more stable job with employee benefits and a reliable income that will allow me to support myself financially.
The problem is that I don't know which type of work arrangement would be best for me at this stage of my life.
On the one hand, I'd like to continue working remotely. I feel that working from home would give me more flexibility to manage my time, take care of my health, and continue preparing for my long-term goals. Some of my aspirations include working on government projects, eventually becoming a public servant, or finding a better-paying position at an NGO. I'm already involved in an NGO project, but my current income barely covers my basic expenses.
On the other hand, my family insists that I should try an in-person or hybrid job because it could help me develop more discipline, expand my professional network, and create better career opportunities.
The thing is, I'm actually pretty good at meeting people and building professional connections. My concern isn't so much about socializing, but rather whether I currently have the physical and mental energy to adapt to an office environment. I've been working remotely for so long that I honestly don't know how I'd handle commuting every day, following an in-person work schedule, and dealing with those additional demands while I'm still recovering.
Part of me wonders whether working outside the home could help me rebuild a routine, interact with other people more regularly, and improve my mental health. At the same time, I'm worried that I might end up exhausted and have even less time to dedicate to my personal projects.
On top of everything else, I feel pressured because I'm about to turn 30. Sometimes I feel like I'm falling behind in life. I have some savings, a work contract that might end soon, and I'm currently relying on a friend who has very kindly offered me a place to stay. It's hard not to compare myself to other people my age who seem to have established careers, financial stability, and their lives figured out.
If you were in my situation, what path would you consider taking?
- Would you keep looking for a fully remote job, focusing on finding a regular employee position with benefits and greater stability?
- Would you look for a hybrid job to establish a more structured routine and interact with other people without giving up flexibility entirely?
- Would you try to get a fully in-person job, even if adjusting to it might be difficult, in the hope of gaining more career opportunities and building professional connections?
- Would you prioritize finding a stable job for now and temporarily put your personal projects on the back burner until you're in a better financial and emotional position?
I'd especially love to hear from people who have transitioned from freelancing to regular employment, changed their work arrangements after going through a difficult period, or had to rebuild their careers around the age of 30.
What worked for you? What would you do differently if you could go back? If you were in my situation, which path would you choose and why?
I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences you're willing to share. I feel like I'm at a point in my life where I need to make some important decisions, but I want to approach them realistically without making my health worse.
Note: The truth is, I’m someone who lives largely inside my own head; I don’t really enjoy socializing with others because I’m constantly thinking about my projects and how to move them forward. While I find it easy to make connections, I’ve always kept people at a distance and been guarded about opening up to form friendships (which is also why I like remote work).

Discussions What Do You Wish Outsourcing Companies Would Talk About More?
I’m curious to hear from both sides: people looking for remote work or exploring career opportunities, and business owners who are considering outsourcing or already work with remote teams.
There’s a lot of content out there about outsourcing, but I wonder what people actually find useful, interesting, or worth engaging with.
For potential applicants, what would you want to learn about when it comes to recruitment, career opportunities, talent development, workplace culture, or working with an outsourcing company?
For business owners and potential clients, what would you want to see when it comes to sales, business growth, hiring, team management, or outsourcing in general?
More importantly, what questions do you have that you rarely see answered well? What kind of content would make you stop scrolling, engage with a post, or want to learn more about a company?
I'm genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives, so feel free to share any ideas or topics you'd like to see more of.

Job Posts I had Claude Code filter the last 24 hours of jobs in 5 European countries down to the truly remote ones. 238 → 8, with the sentence that proves each.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
\You can run this for your own job search: any role, any country, and your own definition of “remote” (time zone, work permit, travel). It’s open source and runs locally with Claude Code(macOS/Window). Comment or DM me and I’ll send the setup.**
Today’s run: Product Manager · France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain · posted in the last 24 hours.
The numbers
- 1,628 LinkedIn search results were read. 238 had “Product Manager” in the title.
- Code then cut that to 99. It removed duplicates (28), descriptions in a language I don’t read (76), jobs that require a language I don’t speak (11), and posts with no remote-related word at all (24).
- For each of the 99, Claude (Haiku) was shown the sentences around words like “remote”, “hybrid”, “on-site” or “time zone”. It had to name the sentence that decides how the role is worked:
- 43 are hybrid, with regular office days
- 8 are on-site
- 38 don’t say how this role is worked (remote shows up only as a perk, or not clearly)
- 2 are remote, but UK only, and my own setting is France/EU
- 8 passed.
The 8, each with the sentence that decided it
- Pennylane — Senior Product Manager (Paris) “You’ll be able to work remotely from anywhere in Europe, as long as your contract allows you to” https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4384171137
- Heymondo — Senior Product Manager “100% Remote (we have a very nice office right next to Torre Agbar in Barcelona in case you want to work from there too)” https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4475781998
- RevenueCat — Senior Product Manager, User Acquisition “A fully remote environment designed around autonomy and flexibility” https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4479059792
- Jobgether (for a partner company) — Product Manager, New & Strategic Initiatives “Fully remote work environment.” — the posting adds that the candidate should be based in France. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4477985251
- PandaDoc — Principal Product Manager, Document Domain (Berlin / Madrid) “Remote-first approach” — on EU time zones; the office is optional. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4470287113
- Click&Boat — Senior Product Manager, Traffic & Acquisition “…or fully remote from France, with 3 days per month at our Paris office.” https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4476467322
- Cytiva — Sr Global Product Manager, Single-use Mixing Solutions (UK) “This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement in which you can work remotely from your home.” — but it also asks for travel above 40%. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4476478495
- Prima — Junior Product Manager (Milan) “Enjoy full flexibility – work from home, the office or a mix of both.” https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4470400569
Only #1 and #2 say plainly that you can work from anywhere (Europe-wide, or with no limit given). The others come with a condition, a country, a time zone, monthly office days, or travel, so read the line before you apply.
Why not LinkedIn’s “Remote” filter? LinkedIn’s Remote filter still lets hybrid and even on-site roles through. The only thing you can trust is what the job description itself says, so that’s the only thing this pipeline judges by.
Not looking for PM roles? The same check works for engineers, designers, marketers, or any title you search for, in any country. Comment or DM me and I’ll send the setup.

Job Posts Weird glitch with remote.co - filters not working
I've been trying to search for jobs this past week on remote.co, but the site will only let me search once using a keyword (eg, instructional design) and then won't filter any selected options. Even if I try to search with a different keyword (engineering), it defaults to the first keyword I used. Does anyone know if the search is purposely broken unless you sign up? I don't want to sign up and have the same issue. I tried two different browsers (Chrome and Firefox) and have the same problem. I'm on the latest Mac OS.

Discussions My worst experience with Bruntwork
My sister got a job from Bruntwork and still going strong, she got an amazing client and is in solid ground with them. Not too long ago (maybe about 2 months ago) I applied for a Video Editor position, of course I waited for a week. Every single day when I wake up I always check my emails if there are any updates on the other job postings, and one day an Australian client wants to do an interview with me, skipping the initial interviews from the agents (it's a first that they skipped the initial interviews)
So I hopped on the call and everything actually went smoothly! They were chill and explained they want fast turnarounds on the outputs, which I have no issue with since I am very efficient and proficient with Adobe.
Days have passed after the interview and said I was chosen! I was so excited and told my sister I got a WFH job. I always daydream my life would be if I'm not working on an office.
The most frustrating part starts after 5 days. There was NO update from them. I emailed them every 3 days and no response. I emailed 3 agents that helped me land a job but 3 of them never even replied to my emails (of course my emails are professional and friendly). this went on for a month.
This may sound hypocritical but I still want a job through Bruntwork, but at the same time I hate them.

Discussions What is this 2026 job market!!!, I don't know where my application goes to. Took me 2 months (I am dumb) to built an engine that only surfaces jobs where I am actually a top match.
jobprime.vercel.appI'm tired of spending hours applying for jobs just to get ghosted by companies I'll probably never hear from again.
Customize resume. Fill out the same application form for the 47th time. Click submit. Get absolutely nothing back.
Repeat until your confidence reaches zero.
At some point, I started wondering: What if the problem isn't how many jobs I'm applying to, but how poorly I'm choosing them?
I built JobPrime to flip that workflow. Instead of scrolling endless job boards and guessing:
- You drop in your background.
- It scans live listings across 15+ countries.
- It filters out the noise and only gives you roles where your profile scores in the top bracket, with direct employer application links.
Stack: React, Vite, Node/Express
It’s completely free to test: https://jobprime.vercel.app/
I'm looking for harsh, honest feedback:
- Are the matched roles actually relevant to your unique skill?
- Is the scoring useful or does it feel like a gimmick?
- What's broken or annoying in the flow?
Note: any premium features are because of abuse which is leaking tokens for the AI part.
Note2: I am using this for 4 weeks now, got 3 call from an interviewer (0 before lol).
Note3: I have implemented a telegram bot which sends me fresh match at 9 am, if anyone finds that convenient, I will build that keeping in mind the privacy and security.
I'd genuinely rather hear that the matching is terrible than get a bunch of polite compliments. Tear it apart.

Discussions 28M Desperately need a Job urgently 🙏🏻
I know it's not a F post so I won't get the reach but let's see
I honestly don't know where to start from, but I'll come straight to the point that I urgently desperately need a Job I beg you all I need your help 😔🙏🏻
I do have 0 full time work experience as of now, no corporate experience as such. I haven't even earned a single rupee my entire life and I'm ashamed to say that I've totally been dependent on my mummy's tailoring earning my entire life till now. Honestly, my mummy is totally frustrated with me but that's totally because of me that's my fault completely I accept that. I come from a tier 3 city and our financial conditions has always been extremely poor forever till now. Just to give you a context that I come from a joint family and I've had a extremely tough childhood and adulthood till now because of extremely toxic environment I had faced back then, though I feel what I faced in adulthood is on me as I failed to focus on the controllables and ruined my life completely.
I've had passive suicidal thoughts almost every week since last 10 - 12 years. Also I've totally wasted my last 10 - 12 years and this can be seen in my major gap years.
Tbh, both my mental health and physical health has taken a very bad toll because of all these things. Currently I've started seeing a psychiatrist and I'm currently on SSRI antidepressants and ADHD medicines and other substantial health issues medicines as well. I feel that I'm feeling a bit better now than before.
I used to be a good obedient kinda ideal child during my school days and I had scored more than 85% both in my 10th and 12th std. Even my graduation score was 9.XX CGPA.
I was even pursuing CA course and had scored quite well in CA CPT but left that course in IPCC due to extreme mental health issues and toxic family environment.
I don't know where I lost the plot of my life completely, from a good obedient ideal child kinda boy to this utter complete failure I've become at 28. I see my schoolmates and other former friends and acquaintances working in great corporates at really good packages and here I am a complete failure in life.
I know that I'm giving too much information but tbh my entire life I've never shared my complete life situation to anyone and being anonymous on reddit gives me a bit of Freedom to finally express myself and genuinely ask for help who can help me 🙏🏻
I'm currently working on my mental health aspect of things and will start working on physical health side of things as well, but I desperately need a source of earning now as I want to support my mummy I'm already very late now.
Honestly I did my career counseling with ChatGPT a few weeks back and it recommended me to go for Business Analyst or Financial Analyst direction ahead in my career. Eventually I do want to get to one of these job roles but I do have to start from somewhere.
I have 0 friends and I've been a loner my entire life thanks to these major social anxiety issues and my introvert nature, so I don't even have good relations with anyone in my life.
Daily 24X7 I have these Regrets^Regrets about my entire life decisions both which were in or outside my control.
Lately I've been watching a lot of motivational movies since last few months be it Jersey, The Pursuit of Happyness, Soorarai Pottru, 12th Fail, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, MS Dhoni and I feel that my life needs a Complete Total RESET now. I'm totally responsible for my current situation I don't want to blame anyone but I do want to desperately need to get my Life on track now. I know mene apni life ko puri tarah se barbaad karke rakh diya he but me aise apni aane wali puri life nhi jeena chahta.
I really don't know what I should say next, I always wanted to share these things my entire life but never had the guts to share. Kabhi kabhi bas sunne wala koi chahiye jo gale lagakar bolde ki bhai sab theek ho jayega.
Also please no trolling in comments 🙏🏻
Whoever can help me to get a Job, I desperately need your support and I won't forgive this help my entire upcoming Life. I just need to get started from somewhere and this has been the toughest part for me. I genuinely need your help and guidance 🙏🏻

Discussions Any advice when looking for a remote job?
Hi! I hope everyone is doing ok 😄
I've been looking at remote jobs, and I know there are risks involved in applying to them.
What is a red flag when applying to a remote job?
I should not pay for an interview, background check, or similar services, and I should not provide personal information. But when is it appropriate to do so? Like, when they give you a job offer?
I'm so new to this. I've been working in an office environment for a couple of years, and I would like to try something different that's more related to my studies (psychology). And I'm actually going to have my first interview on Friday! I'm nervous because English is my second language. Wish me luck!
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Discussions Which IT job can be done remotely?
I want to be an actor. But I don’t think that the market that I’m currently at demands what I have to offer (I’m currently in NYC). I’m thinking about going to Egypt to get acting classes and experience. But I would need a job that is flexible. I’m thinking about IT freelancing since I can make my own hours and earn in dollars to live comfortably in another country. What kind of jobs allow you to do that? Is DevOps one of those? I currently work in desktop support and the closest thing that is adjacent to that remotely is help desk which is either being automated or being crushed by competition with cheaper labor. Anyone else figured this one out?
Thank you
