For over 2 years, I've been using AI to analyze every supplement on the market
This has been my project for a few years now.
I recently brought it back to life after taking a pause to focus on my studies.
My goal with this project is to separate fluff from science when shopping for supplements.
I am doing this in 3 steps:
1.) I index every supplement on the market (extract each ingredient, normalize by quantity)
2.) I index every research paper on supplementation (rank every claim by effect type and effect size)
3.) I link data between supplements and research papers
Earlier last year, I took pause on a project because I've ran into a few issues:
Legal: Shady companies are sending C&Ds letters demanding their products are taken down from the website. It is not something I had the mental capacity to respond to while also going through my studies. Not coincidentally, these are usually brands with big marketing budgets and poor ingredients to price ratio.
Technical: I started this project when the first LLMs came out. I've built extensive internal evals to understand how LLMs are performing. The hallucinations at the time were simply too frequent to passthrough this data to visitors. However, I recently re-ran my evals with Opus 4.5 and was very impressed. I am running out of scenarios that I can think/find where LLMs are bad at interpreting data.
Business: I still haven't figured out how to monetize it or even who the target customer is.
Despite these challenges, I decided to restart my journey.
My mission is to bring transparency (science and price) to the supplement market. My goal is NOT to increase the use of supplements, but rather to help consumers make informed decisions. Often times, supplementation is not necessary or there are natural ways to supplement (that's my focus this quarter – better education about natural supplementation).
Some things that are helping my cause – Bryan Johnson's journey has drawn a lot more attention to healthy supplementation (blueprint). Thanks to Bryan's efforts, I had so many people in recent months reach out to ask about the state of the project – interest I've not had before.
I am excited to restart this journey. Your comments on how to approach this would be massively appreciated.

Low bifidobacteria
Hey! I’m a FTM. My little boy is approaching one year of age. For the past 4 months his poops have been smelling acidic and sour. My husband and I decided to do a GI Map test on him to see what was going on inside his gut. He was born by c-section and I know there’s some research suggesting the C-section can impair the gut due to the baby not receiving the mother’s vaginal microbiota.
His test came back low in bifidobacteria and we were suggested to start a probiotic. Since then I’ve seen no change in the smell of his poop. He’s breastfed and eats three meals per day. He’s a very active and happy little boy. The only thing that concerns me is his poos. Could it be a food intolerance?

Confusing scent?
I’ve been taking a probiotic supplement for a couple days now, and keep getting a strong scent and taste of mint whenever I’ve taken it (plus a sort of cheese smell upon opening the bottle, but I didn’t find that as odd since I’m assuming there’s some fermentation with probiotics. Thankfully doesn’t leave a cheese taste). Any idea what the mint smell/taste could be coming from?
For reference, the supplement is “psychobiotics” by purewell sciences. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does florastor help? I've seen some conflicting info on probiotics use and it saying they can can sometimes cause the gut more problems. This one keeps popping up in particular. If I took it alongside an antibiotic for a first time c diff infection would my stomach then notice when I stop using it?

Do probiotics need to be refrigerated or is shelf-stable fine?
I’ve been keeping mine in the fridge because some brands make a big deal about refrigeration, almost like it’s proof the product is more premium. But then there are other probiotics labeled shelf-stable where room temperature is supposedly fine because the bacteria are designed to handle it.
So which is actually true? Does keeping a probiotic cold generally help preserve more live bacteria, or can a properly manufactured shelf-stable product maintain its CFU count through the expiration date? I’m trying to figure out whether refrigeration is actually a biology thing or if I’ve just been falling for the marketing.

Is progot probiotics effective?
galleryHi! I recently ordered this probiotics from TikTok shop, hindi dahil gusto ko, but because I was desperate to make my bloated tummy and face to change and actually slim down a lil. Although many influencers and affiliates claim that this product is "effective" I still can't shake the feeling that it's fishy and they're js faking their reviews.
I haven't taken one yet mainly because I saw some reviews that it not only made them much more bloated but it also caused them breakouts. Funny thing for a product that's supposed to make you less bloated and fix your gut health. Thus, it was also ineffective for some? I js don't get it. Now I'm hesitant to try and take this probiotic, darn it I spent my whole week's allowance on this😿😿. Please if you've used this product before or maybe someone you know please let me know what it did and if this really works or it's js another hyped up product.

Is it bad to purchase probiotics off of Amazon instead of directly going to source?
I purchased megasporebiotic from Amazon and I saw someone comment that saying that there might be quality control issues when buying a probiotic like that from Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with this
