Mod Announcement Rules and Wiki Acknowledgement: ALL Users must read and reply!

We continue to see a plethora of posts from users NOT reading the rules or the wiki.

To participate in r/PS5_Jailbreak going forward you must acknowledge you have read both the rules and the wiki. They are not overly huge but they do contain a lot of great information.

I have also added a 6th rule to limit brand new accounts from posting in our community.

Account requirements to POST in our community

  • Account must be 1+ months old with 25+ karma to post
  • Use QUESTION flair for regular posts
  • Special flairs are reserved for the MOD/DEV team

Account requirements to COMMENT in our community

  • Account must be at least 1 week old with 25+ karma to comment

The rules keep our sub in order. If you cannot follow or respect them you will be removed.

The most important information you should look at in the wiki are these 3 in no particular order: 1.) Frequently asked questions, 2.) Exploit Compatibility and Chaining, and last but not least 3.) Get Started Jailbreaking your PS5 HERE!"

There is plenty of amplifying information in the root index of the wiki. For each type of exploit and jailbreak there are links to the associated Dev's GitHub with instructions/guides.

If you don't see why you're looking for, give r/PS5_Jailbreak a search. More than likely it has already been answered in some form or fashion.  If there is something you'd like added to the wiki please comment it on the wiki announcement thread. If you have made it this far acknowledged you have read both the wiki and the rules by commenting "Happy Jailbreaking!" Users will not be able to contribute to this sub until they have done so.

For those confused on why your stuff may not be staying around "Happy jailbreaking" is not the same as "Happy Jailbreaking!"

Update:

1.)Automod is fully live. I adjusted the Post karma threshold down to 50+ Karma and the comment threshold down to 25+ for the sub. This may adjust depending on how it does and mods can still approve under if it's pertinent.

2.) Our community Wiki is restored!

3.) If you have any issues posting AFTER you have done the verification step reach out to the mod team. Some of the older users who previoulsy had a x.xx fw type flair may not have the verified flair appropriately reassigned by the automod.

QUESTION Does this mean I can’t jailbreak 14.00 even if one is released?

Post image

Got this pop up yesterday and been looking online. Some people saying they’re glad their PS5’s have been unplugged for a while and some say that they will hold until the jailbreak drops regardless. My confusion comes from the first group of people happy that they have had theirs unplugged. Does this mean if you get the pop up ur screwed whether a jailbreak is released or not ? If not then what does it matter if it was unplugged?

General Dev Appreciation Post

Post image
• Upvotes

Honestly, I hadn’t touched my PS5 in years until I came across a jailbreak video. I had no idea how much was possible with this console, and after discovering the homebrew scene, I went down a rabbit hole looking at all the incredible projects people have been working on. 😂

Pretty much everything shown in the photos is what I have and I’m even expecting a 5TB HDD to arrive so I can expand everything even further. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited to see what more I can do with my PS5 and what more this community has to offer 😎

But beyond all the games and emulators, I really wanted to make this post to show some appreciation to the developers behind these projects.

From PSXS5 and PS5SX2 to RetroArch, Nintendo emulators, ports, and all the other amazing tools being developed, it’s honestly incredible to see what people have managed to accomplish.

I can only imagine the amount of time, knowledge, testing, and troubleshooting that goes into making these projects work. Developing software is already difficult enough, let alone getting emulators and applications running on a console they weren’t originally designed for.
A lot of this work probably goes unnoticed, and I think the people putting their time and skills into these projects deserve more recognition than they get.

Thanks to everyone who develops, maintains, updates, and shares these projects, as well as everyone who creates guides and helps others in the community. Your work makes a real difference, and in my case, it genuinely brought me back to a console I hadn’t touched in years.

I might not understand all the technical work that goes on behind the scenes, but I can certainly appreciate the results. It’s amazing seeing what passionate people can accomplish when they put their minds together.
To all the developers who might come across this post: thank you for everything you do.

I hope you know that your work is appreciated by people like me who get to enjoy the results of all your hard work.
If you enjoy these projects too, show the developers some love, give them credit, report bugs when you can, star their repositories, or donate if they have an official way to accept support.

Much respect to everyone contributing to the PS5 homebrew scene. You guys are awesome, and I’m glad I stumbled across that jailbreak video. 🙏❤️🎮

Is it RetroArch with themes or is there a specific app for the PSP emulator? I know there's ProsperoEden for the Switch emulator but the launcher does not look like that so does anybody know?

Discussion NeoEnabler 0.3.0 - Now with a hassle-free experience for enabling and updating patches for PS4 Pro mode for select games and enjoy higher resolutions

Post image
• Upvotes

For those who missed it, NeoEnabler is a payload that enables the PS4 Pro mode flag for unsupported PS4 titles. With it, you can have patches using illusionyy"s ps-patch-system (Need to be loaded first before it can actually work) to be developed to increase the game's resolution. This opens the way for patches for up to 4K depending on the game.

https://github.com/gasb07/NeoEnabler/releases/tag/v0.3.0

0.3.0 brings lots of quality-of-life improvements to the experience:

- There's no more need to copy and paste xmls to the console. NeoEnabler syncs all XML patches from the payload's repository every time it launches, and also allows you to manually scan for new updates. It then merges NeoEnabler's patches with your current ones, regardless of what CUSAXXXXX you have (It uses the Title attribute of the XML on your console to match with ours, so if it doesn't detect your game, this might a Title mismatch)

- You can activate patches directly from the web interface, and it detects the games you have that have resolution patches available. You can only choose one of the resolution patches, but any other can be activated together (Some patches can affect the resolution patches. If you have a problem, try disabling all patches and testing only with the resolution one)

- Game search: You can search for games (There are less than 10 games, but who know what the future brings?)

- Automatic enabling and disabling of PS4 Pro mode and 8GB mode: The patches selected will determine what modes NeoEnabler will activate when you start a supported game. When you close it, it disables them. For 13.20 and 13.60 (Which I still need feedback on whether it worked or not), some patches only work with the 8GB enabled (highlighted on each patch that requires it). 8GB PATCHES REQUIRE HYPERVISOR EXPLOIT TO BE ACTIVATED. 8GB mode patches can only be selected when all required condition are met (firmware + hypervisor exploit).

- GPU Boost (13.20 for now, still gonna check some stuff before trying to open to all): Force the GPU clock to run at up to 2200Mhz. It might provide some performance, it may not, but it's nice to have.
I hope you all enjoy the new changes, and if you guys have any problems, feel free to open an issue and I'll look into it as soon as I can.

Discussion Sysdvr ps5 client port

Post image
22 Upvotes

I wanted to get in on the vibe coding ports action so I made sysdvr client for ps5. If you havent heard of this you put the homebrew on a modded switch and it streams the video capture to a client somewhere else, only way to get switch lite on the big screen.

So far I only got the wireless connection up and running but it's working great for me, my ps5 is wired and wifi router is right next to the switch.

I'm having more fun tinkering with the ps5 than playing lately! Anyway if there's any interest in this I can put it up on github.

Thanks!

Discussion NeoEnabler + HV + 8GB RAM on PS4 Pro mode = Bloodborne at 4K

Post image
49 Upvotes

Byepervisor Reborned being released gave me an idea: If I can already run higher resolutions with the current 5.5GB limit for PS4 Pro mode, what if I could use the hypervisor exploit to increase this limit to 8GB, since 5.5GB is not enough for some games at 4K?

This is the result. Bloodborne running at native 4K on a 13.20 PS5.

Unfortunately that's the only firmware version it works on since the kernel needs to be altered at runtime for this, and every kernel has a different offset. Soon I'll be releasing a new version of NeoEnabler for people with 13.20 to test. There's also an untested implementation for 13.60, but I can't guarantee it'll work because firmware support for each version requires kernel dumps that I don't have. This is a project that, if it gains traction, will require the help of the community.

In the meantime, you can try the already released version on neo-enabler with patches for 7 different games, but not all reach 4K without the hypervisor compatible version (Bloodborne being one of them)

Discussion NeoEnabler - Enable PS4 Pro mode in base PS4 games to allow for high resolution patches*

Post image
97 Upvotes

NeoEnabler is a companion payload to illusionyy's ps-patch-system to allow the PS5 to turn on the PS4 Pro (Neo) for any game. Of course, doing that alone is not enough, since base and Pro consoles have different ways of rendering the image, which is why doing that usually makes either the game crash or a garbled image.

*Patches designed for ps-patch-system are required, and must be created in a game to game basis. All patches in the repo were made with extensive help of LLMs and lots of time testing image quality and image stability only, not testing for game stability over time.

Currently there are patches for

Bloodborne

Battlefield 4

Just Cause 3

The Order: 1886

Need For Speed Rivals

Resident Evil 6

Killzone Shadow Fall

WARNING: For now this is considered by me to be a proof-of-concept project, with no extensive testing. I appreciate any feedback regarding stability or image problems.

Edit: correcting typo and clarifications

QUESTION HITMAN WoA online on PS5 with no official servers, full menus and progression working.

Really excited to announce, I've got HITMAN World of Assassination connecting online on PS5 again, running against a local server instead of IOI's, so the menus and progression work without their servers. I've been wanting to be able to play freelancer and other online game modes when offline, now we can.

Right now it connects to the main hub and loads Story, Destinations, the Store, Career and Freelancer. You can plan a mission, play it, and your score, XP and mastery save and carry over when you restart. It's inspired by the Peacock Project (the server replacement the PC community already uses), but completely unaffiliated with the developers.

This was tested on the new hitman update on a 13.60 PS5 (homebrew), took a while to get this working as the PS5 IOI/Sony side is completely different to the PC equivalent. Still a work in progress to get all features in there (some arcade modes need to be coded), but you can use the release in my GitHub project to run it now!

Mapping the PS5's own protocol out of the binary took the most time. The PS5 build asks for its config on a bare URL, calls itself version 8.12.0, logs in with a PSN grant, and uses a few service methods the PC client doesn't. There's no UnlockableService on PS5 for example, the inventory comes back on a different call.

https://github.com/theghostonline/Hitman-PS5/

I'll be working on a 007 first light server soon so keep updated if you'd like to see it!

Disclaimer: no IOI code is used in the GitHub release and I used my own retail game disc, this project is not to condone piracy. Thanks.

General [GUIDE] Update your exfat/ffpfsc/folder/whatever PS5 games

EDIT
Well, this is... embarrassing...
cxmachi was right, I don't have the "Beauty of Yotei" ingame...
I was CONVINCED that Ghost of Yotei had been updated this way since the icon and even the splash screen changed to the Complete Edition following the update installation...
I'm really sorry for the mess I caused. I'm still going to leave the procedure for retail games, but I'll remove any mentions of exfat files and that kind of stuff u_u

Hello there!

I was asked to create a walkthrough to help anyone who wants to update a retail game.

Prerequisites

* fetchpkg by ps5-payload-dev => https://github.com/ps5-payload-dev/fetchpkg

* (optional) A Graphical User Interface like fetchpkg-gui by drakmor (very powerful) => https://github.com/drakmor/fetchpkg-gui // A tiny (and very simple) GUI by yours truly => https://github.com/rufotheone-fr/fetchpkg_gui

How to

  1. Go to prosperopatches dot com, search for the right update for your game and double check the PPSA code and required firmware: for example, my PS5 is on 13.60 so the last suitable patch for Ghost of Yotei is the 02.002.000
  2. Click on the patch then right click on the SC or CRC button and copy the link
  3. Paste the link somewhere, erase the *_sc.pkg or *.crc part and replace it with *.json (example: https://verylongurlwithlotsofthings/UP9000-PPSA26344_00-GHOST2SHIP000000_sc.pkg => https://verylongurlwithlotsofthings/UP9000-PPSA26344_00-GHOST2SHIP000000.json) // Skip this part if you use a GUI because they do the job for you
  4. Give the link to fetchpkg with: fetchpkg [-p PROXY] [-o PATH] URL (or use a GUI)
  5. Wait for the operation to finish
  6. Drop your update to your PS5 (through FTP or external drive for example)
  7. Install it with the PKG installer of the Debug Menu or use an app like PKG Manager by itsPLK => https://github.com/itsPLK/ps5-pkg-manager

Enjoy!

Once fpkg reaches 13.60, we should create dumps exclusively in PKG format to achieve performance similar to retail. The era of folder-based games and compressed files is coming to an end.

General Windows XP on the Freaking PS5!

Post image
13 Upvotes

A new project called ps5-windows-xp reportedly allows jailbroken PS5 consoles to run Windows XP, with the developer claiming full-speed performance.

What’s even more interesting is that Windows XP reportedly appears as its own application on the PS5 home screen, rather than requiring users to boot into a separate operating system.

According to the developer, the project supports 3D games, DualSense controllers, audio, and web browsing. Some Windows games are also reportedly playable.

Imagine running an operating system from the early 2000s on modern PlayStation hardware. 😂

With all the recent developments involving Linux, native emulators, Prospero-Win, and now Windows XP, it’s becoming increasingly interesting to see what developers can achieve with a jailbroken PS5.

Huge appreciation to the developers who continue pushing the boundaries of PS5 homebrew.

Discussion Waiting for fpkg might be worth it

This is my first time jailbreaking. I’ve been playing wolverine but the experience sucks. Tried folder dump, and lz4. It crashes on me and game save, sound issues every new mission, specially Japan.
I’m enjoying the game but TBH researching on just making the game work stressed me out (not limited to wolverine). There is so much to understand why a game is not working. I’ve paused playing any games for now.

I hope the fpkg support will come up to 13.60 soon. Just sharing my thoughts.

Discussion PS5 TabShifter v1.1.0 — Move apps between Games/Media tabs, pin games to main screen, and hide offline PSN bloatware (FW 12.xx – 13.60)

Hey everyone,

Following up on my release yesterday for firmware 13.60, I've just pushed v1.1.0 to GitHub with support expanded across Firmware 12.02, 13.00, 13.40, and 13.60, along with several fixes and new features requested from feedback.

For anyone seeing this for the first time: TabShifter is an on-console payload built to solve the MMS database split on newer PS5 firmwares where modifying app.db alone causes appinfo.db or RAM caches to overwrite your layout. It updates all database layers (app.db, appinfo.db, per-user view tables, and param.json) simultaneously and reloads SceShellUI in ~1.5 seconds.

What's New in v1.1.0:

  • Fixed Padlock Icons: Preserves original native appType flags (1 for retail/fpkg games, 5 for homebrew) and removes the old installer fallback that triggered an OS license verification scan on fpkgs. Also adds native categoryType = 61440 support for PS4 (CUSA) games.
  • Reboot-Persistent Bloatware Hiding: Switched the hidden state to Sony's native dispLocation = 1 combined with emsDeletedFlag so PS Store and bloatware stay hidden across cold reboots.
  • Expanded System Apps (PSGFX style): Exposed Media Gallery, Disc Player, Music Home, Discover, Welcome Hub, and All Apps in the dashboard list so you can individually hide or move them. (Welcome Hub is now preserved by default during 1-click bloatware sweeps so your storage widget stays active).
  • Pin All Games to Main Screen: Added a 1-click button to keep installed games on the main home screen bar instead of dropping into the Game Library.
  • Firmware Compatibility: Cleaned up Title ID handling for safe execution across FW 12.xx through 13.60.

Features:

  • Move Any App Between [GAMES] and [MEDIA] Tabs: Keep your Games tab strictly for games and move homebrew, emulators, or stores to Media.
  • 1-Click PSN Bloatware Toggle: Cleanly hides or unhides offline tiles (PlayStation Store, PlayStation Plus, Remote Play, Share Play, Welcome Hub, and Live TV).
  • 100% On-Console Control: No PC required. Running the payload installs a native "TS" shortcut tile directly onto your Media tab.
  • Clean Uninstallation: Registered through libSceAppInstUtil, so you can delete it directly from the PS5 home screen by pressing Options -> Delete on your controller, or by clicking the uninstall button inside the dashboard UI.
  • Safety Backups: Automatically creates .bak copies of your untouched databases before writing any changes.

Installation & Usage:

  1. Download TabShifter.elf from the GitHub releases page: https://github.com/xvvulcanvx/PS5-TabShifter
  2. Put TabShifter.elf into your payloads directory (such as /data/pldmgr/payloads/ if you use Payload Manager) and execute it once.
  3. Open the TabShifter ("TS") tile from your Media tab, or access the dashboard from any browser on your home network at http://PS5_IP:9095/
