I recently did some hiking in Rothrock State Forest and a few of the trails I hiked were almost grown completely shut. It was difficult to locate the trail and pass through the overgrown mountain laurel in many areas. The blazes were also faded and non existent in some places. The trails were difficult with steep climbs and I am sure this may be why they are not heavily used.
My question is what are the rules/ permissions needed if I would like to do some very minimal pruning along the trails so that they do not completely grow shut?
I am sure other hikers would appreciate this as well.
I typically hike alone and would prefer not to be part of "group work days" that are typically held for trail maintenance. I would prefer to do dispersed camping near the trails and work on clearing them over a few days as a way to help maintain these quality trails. Thanks for any advice or recommendations you have...
