But the rates limits are the same so how can that be? Maybe you’re subconsciously using it more as you’re experimenting and playing with it?

I ran into the chat gpt5 message cap and was completely unable to send messages in any conversation. I did not get downgraded. I use chat gpt literally all the time and this has never once happened to me. It’s now occurred twice, once yesterday and once today.

If it’s right, it would pretty much resolve my complaints. But it’s a bit crazy if they are releasing 5 and slow rolling the backups.

Sorry but this isn’t true. I hit the limit for the very first time ever today using 5, and I’m simply locked out of sending any messages until it resets. I’ve never been unable to send messages at all before even if I was downgraded. There is no 5 mini showing up, at least right now.
