This is Nutmeg. He’s 4 years old. I got him as a kitten from a shelter, and they said he was just born without all his fur but that it would eventually grow in. Obviously, that never happened!
He may look jarring but he is perfectly healthy. I’ve taken him to multiple vets and they’ve never found anything wrong with him, he simply just lacks fur.
The hypothesis is he has a genetic mutation that caused his undercoat to not grow in, similar to the one that created the Lykoi breed. Since he was a stray I don’t know what his parents looked like, and I don’t have the money for genetic testing.
Nonetheless, he is still very much an orange boy. He’s social, playful, extroverted, and downright crazy at times.
In fact, I’ve grown fond of his baldness. He is extra cuddly since he gets cold easily, he loves to be little spoon every night. Super fun to buy him lil sweaters too! And he does not shed very much! So I don’t have to deal with loads of cat hair all over my house. Plus, he’s a great conversation piece. I’m very used to giving the whole spiel anytime someone new comes over.
His uniqueness has made him quite popular online as well! (@nutmegbalding on IG) it’s been fun seeing everyone’s reaction to him!

The hardwood floors! The table! Curry! Thai tea! Cheese pizza! His dad! The oven when the light is on! Apparently, the sunrise (it charges him)

He has so many toys but he just loves this strand that fell of a toy a while ago. He has so much fun playing a few minutes before napping on it again, its his favorite game everyday 🥹
(He is always supervised and doesn't try to eat it).
