New moderator automation
Hello there! Oceanlinerporn is steadily growing, and with growth come new challenges.
One of these challenges is the attraction of new faces who might no be accustomed to the sub. For this reason we have set some automation moderation for new accounts, or accounts with low comment karma.
We will be trialing this for now, and make it permanent if it works well.
Thank you for your contributions to this sub, and thanks for reading this. Happy summer!

Wreck of the SS Antilles
The Antilles was built for the French Line in 1952 as a sister ship to the Flandre. She primarily sailed between France and the West Indies before shifting to full-time Caribbean cruising.
It was on a Caribbean cruise when, on January 8, 1971, the ship struck a coral reef off the island of Mustique. The impact ruptured a main fuel tank, triggering a fire. All passengers and crew evacuated, leaving the island on the QE2.
Coincidentally, the Flandre also succumbed to a fire in 1994.

What liner is this please? From a colorized video of NYC in the 30s.
The color looks like White Star Buff but I’m not an expert. Just curious which liner it is as its only shown for a couple seconds in the film.

A piece from a wreckaged Lusitania deck chair
Although I believe it was torpedoed only once instead of twice as it says in the COA... is that a debate?
