Just Sharing Harmony

There’s a place where we can live in harmony

.

With the windows open in the Summer

.

No fear of war or being nuked

.

New politicians to sell you the next big dream

.

Right now, we have these old rich white men controlling everything

.

They say they are keeping us safe

.

But what do they know about the outside world

.

What’s the worst that will happen, I get raped ?

.

I think we need some new leadership in charge

.

Someone who will tell me exactly what I want to hear

.

These new ones say all we have to do is open our gates

.

What’s the worst that will happen, I get raped ?

.

These old white men need to go

.

I’m going to kick and scream until I get my way

.

Then finally, we’ll live in peace

.

We’ve already started re-writing the history books

.

(The power of grifting)

Hey, I came from your comment on my post. First of all this poem has such a potent message. Yes, down with the fascist, capitalist pig, enough of their puppeteering. Now coming to poem's structure; short, terse and laconic. The repetition of the line "worst that will happen, I get raped?" has such a force that it drives the narrative home each time. Overall I like the message, I like the poem. No notes, no changes required

I think you misunderstood the message. The message was that the Communist/Anarchist vision for the world is a grift. They sell the people the promise of a united world free of oppression, but what they get is violence and terrorism. We see this with the grooming gangs in London and elsewhere. I think the globalists played on white people's good nature to welcome in their own destruction. I feel bad for the college professor who thinks that they will usher in a utopia once the Marxist doctrine is fulfilled. They will be taken out back and shot. It's a cancer that has eaten away at everything good in life. Thank you for commenting though, if you feel the need to respond, please send me another comment. I am always open for discussion.

If anarchist/Marxist view is not the way to go, and capitalist are in this for only their growing profit, what do you think needs to be done? I don't know your political leaning but is it right to assume that you view yourself as centrist/neutral? I am most definitely wrong in this assumption and I would like to be corrected. Anyways I am very glad that you took your time to engage

I'm a Libertarian-Socialist. But I differ from other Anarchists in thinking that the West needs to be destroyed so that the global South can thrive (I combine the Communist and Anarchist perspectives because I know many Anarchists are Communists). In my opinion, the West should maintain its autonomy while resisting the urge to exploit other nations, especially the global South. I think the Capitalists (the 1%) are guilty of exploitation. But that doesn't mean you open the borders for the poor (working class) residents of Capitalist countries to feel the pain (it's always the rich politicians in Washington who invite South Americans to live in poor white neighborhoods). I'm an American and I'm committed to helping working class Americans. That doesn't mean I want to oppress people from other countries. It just means that my loyalty is to my immediate family first.

Also talking about white people's good nature, was this the same good nature that colonised and brutalised other nations/tribes in the name of pioneering civilization in uncivilized/backward countries. I don't hold anything against today's white people specifically young white people but don't you think the voice of the left (from 3rd world countries atleast) comes from a place of being oppressed by earlier "good natured white person"?

I think this is a gross mischaracterization of history. First of all, the Native Americans were not living in peace before the white settlers showed up. They were warring with and enslaving each other and doing all kinds of brutal practices that the white settlers put a stop to. That doesn't mean that there weren't atrocities committed by the white settlers. It just means that it was a war. And most of the Native Americans were wiped out by diseases that couldn't have been forseen by the white settlers even if they wanted to.

If you look at the world today, does it seem like white people are all that evil. Do they just gentrify neighborhoods and that's about the extent of their "colonization" ? In my opinion, white people make the world better wherever they go. It doesn't mean they're perfect. It just means that they are trying to survive and do what's best for their family just like everybody else. And if you look outside the West, the world is a really brutal and ugly place (aside from the Asian countries). Should we be encouraging the world to be more like that, or more like the West ?
