Discussion Favorite comedy movie joke that's elementary/ low brow yet somehow also brilliant?
There are so many stupid lines in comedy movies that manage to also be genius. Was just rewatching spaceballs and the whole "1,2,3,4,5" joke is so good lmao.
"Amazing... the same combination I have on my LUGGAGE!"
Darth helmet and colonel sanders exchange looks
What comedy lines have this same energy? Easy-to-understand while also somehow being clever.

Question How do they shift the blame for boxoffice flops in large studios?
I've been reading the news about Digger flop: "Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ Now Stands to Lose $245 Million After Dropping 60% in Second Weekend". How is it usually going inside of the studio? Do they just shrug and support each other? Is the executive producer the main party responsible? Market research? Not the director and writers right?

Discussion Which movie character has the most absurdly unshakeable optimism?
I've started putting together a Letterboxd list called Dr Pangloss Roll Call, named after the absurdly optimistic philosopher from Voltaire's Candide.
Essentially, we're looking for cinema's eternal optimists. Characters whose confidence that everything will turn out brilliantly survives overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
My opening five:
- Clark Griswold — National Lampoon's Vacation
- Ed Wood — Ed Wood
- Ernest P. Worrell — Ernest Goes to Camp
- Buzz Lightyear — Toy Story
- Del Griffith — Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Some are wonderfully deluded, others simply refuse to let reality get in the way of a positive outlook.
So, who else belongs on the roll call? And who have I overlooked completely?
I'm hoping to build the list from everyone's suggestions.

Media Creepshow (1982) Workprint
Hey everyone I'll be doing 1 of these a week to show off my collection. So far, I'm appreciating the comments & feedback. 2027 will be 20 years for trading and it's not just the trading that I enjoy, it's the stories of where this stuff originates which I find fascinating. This variation of the Creepshow workprint is from George Romero's personal VHS which is the reason as to why the video & audio quality are better than what's been going around for years.

Discussion The carriers 2009
I liked it more than I thought I would, but the ending should've been them bringing brian to the ocean since they were literally there in the scene after they killed him. They tried to make a sentimental brotherhood part at the end too which made no sense cause he just killed his brother. That part would've hit way harder if they brought him to the ocean to pass.

Review The Haunting (1963)
Based on the novel “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson The Haunting is about Dr. John Markway (Richard Johnson) who is a Anthropologist and he invites three people Eleanor Lance (Julie Harris), Theodora (Claire Bliom) and Luke Sannerson (Russ Tamblyn) to stay at this isolated, notoriously sinister Hill House to investigate paranormal activity going on in the house. The film is a classic with good performances from our 4 lead characters, Eleanor is a interesting character who is left feeling guilt after the death of her mother and also who has experienced ghosts as a child and throughout the film she narrates and we are in her conscious mind of how she is feeling. The film is also eerie and creepy and it blends all that together nicely. If you haven’t seen the film it’s worth a watch.
