In the new official gala portraits, published on the occasion of the day, the Crown Prince wears the gala uniform of the Royal Life Guards for the first time.
Around his neck, the Crown Prince wears the Grand Commander Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog, which His Majesty the King has awarded to the Crown Prince in connection with his birthday. Grand Commander is the highest rank of the Order of the Dannebrog, which is uniquely awarded to princely (royal) persons who are already Knights of the Order of the Elephant.
In addition, the Order of the Elephant with a breast star, the breast star of the Order of the Dannebrog, as well as the commemorative and memorial medals that His Royal Highness has received are visible.
The portraits were taken a few weeks before the birthday in the Vestibule of Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg.

Today, the Norwegian postal service «Posten Bring» unveiled the new postage stamp honouring His Majesty the King. His Majesty personally took part in selecting the photograph.
In a press release, the Norwegian postal service «Posten Bring» writes:
"The tradition of featuring kings on Norwegian postage stamps has endured since 1856. Now, this 170-year-old tradition continues as His Majesty King Haakon VIII is portrayed on a postage stamp for the first time as King of Norway."
"It was an honour to be involved in creating the first stamp featuring King Haakon," says Hanne Karlsrud Bye, graphic designer at Posten Bring, in an interview with TV 2.

Question Legitimate question

I myself am not a monarchist, and more of a centrist so I don't know much about all the various monarchist movements, but I'm truly curious about why people chose to become monarchists and some of the reasons people chose to adopt their position? Any opinions and stances are welcome.

14 October 1971 - The 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire continues after the arrival of all the Shah’s guests. A grand gala dinner is held at the Banqueting Hall in honour of the Shahbanu's birthday. Sixty royals, viceroys, presidents, prime ministers, et cetera were assembled at one winding table. Six hundred guests dine for over five and a half hours, recognised in successive edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest and most expensive official banquet in modern history. The evening is concluded with a son et lumière show by Iannis Xenakis, the Polytrope of Persepolis, with electronic musical accompaniment.

Question Is Haakon VIII going to have an consecration ceremony?

Thumbnail

It is really passed some time since the death of the late king Harald V, there is no any announcements nor speculations about the date or preparations for this ceremony. It is not obligatory so it came into question, is there even going to be an consecration ceremony for TM King and Queen? What do you think?

Note: I think it would be magnificent idea if Haakon VIII have coronation ceremony in honor of great king Haakon VII, but its, sadly, impossible due to constitutional ban.

History A lost chance for an Irish Monarchy

Post image

Éamon de Valera reportedly offered Donough O'Brien, 16th Baron Inchiquin, a direct paternal descendant of the High King Brian Boru, the title of Prince-President of the Irish Republic during the era of the Irish Free State. It was suggested to de Valera that Ireland might revive a Gaelic royal or titular head-of-state line, leading de Valera to approach Lord Inchiquin through an intermediary. The offer was declined, and Ireland instead instituted the office of the President of Ireland.

Discussion With regards to younger children of monarchs and heirs

Do you believe it is better to establish early on that they will be expected to either support the monarch/heir or create a life outside of the royal sphere? Or should younger royal children be raised without that influencing their childhoods and only establish that fact when they're adults?

Which monarchies have done the best with developing spares who understand their positions and successfully support the monarchy/live independently without bringing trouble to it? Which monarchies could have done better?
