It wasn't. We just have to accept that Spider-Man is smart and resourceful. Plus his apartment's full of asbestos

I wondered if the asbestos comment was a reference to the original comics where all Spidey's gadgets and gizmos are made from asbestos

Beating The Vulture with lung cancer.

That makes his conversation with Ned make more sense, nylon? Close. He's actually just spreading asbestos all ove the city ha

The only financial thing they addressed was how he got such a big apartment, which was revealed to have been just used as a storage room (more like a trash room) and it had a lot of asbestos.

Possibly living off inheritance+life insurance from May.

all records of inheritance would’ve been erased

We don't necessarily know that records were full-send erased, just that anything that would allow anyone to remember on their own was. Peter might still have his own ID and such, and if he shows up to May's attorney and goes "yep that's me here's my license" that might be enough.

We don't know that, specifically. The Hulk brought everyone back who had been blipped and the explanation as to why, say, people who had been on an airplane weren't brought back hurtling through the air is that he's smart enough to couch the wish for his snap in a way that prevented things like that from happening. It is not at all impossible that Strange was able to do something similar.

If there was no school records and he had to do a GED at the end of spiderman 3. I'm pretty sure his inheritance records would be wiped too.

I’m not sure why people keep bringing up school records and the GED as proof that Peter was erased from every system. Peter’s fellow students, teachers and school administrators would have known him very well. Having everyone forget him would have involved totally wiping everything education-related. That’s a different matter from an enormous government database that has layers of access control.

He works with the police. Volunteer he said. I believe they gave him some grants

Key to the city might have a monetary award with it

Nope, we were discussing how that was kind of a plot hole they just gloss over. Felt like a ‘pls don’t think about this too hard we don’t have time to explain’ more than anything

Especially since his job is so significant to his character, aka Bugle gig, I don’t think they even wanted to try and introduce it because it would take too much time/be too significant. I said I just assumed the police was helping him or maybe Tony left some sort of money for Peter in his will before passing? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

11

u/hyacinthgirl95 Jul 31 '26

i’ve often felt that job makes little sense in 2026. everyone has a camera on their phones now, most news media papers/sites are struggling. Ned even made a tracking app for spider-man. the thing about Peter Parker having that gig was his ability to capture spider-man at the right times. it’s just not the same post 2010 lol

Great point and I totally agree. Which again is why they are probably hesitant introducing the Bugle. In 2026 taking photos of Spider-Man doesn’t seem like the crazy ask it was before.
But at the same time they still introduced Jameson in the MCU so they are planning on incorporating it whether that be as Pete’s job or just a way to move the plot forwRd

I woulda thought maybe they have him as an intern at jameson's ragebait online podcast mocking spider man. Wonder if jjj even has a following with how popular spider man is in this movie

Yeah it was definitely a bit of a gap I felt was missing. I don't like the Tony left him money idea given that NWH erased his identity.

Definitely should have had a scene or two showing him paying in cash for the apartment (due to his identity getting deleted) and doing something like delivering pizza like in the Rami trilogy to get money in between Spidermaning

2

u/FawkYourself Aug 02 '26

It made everyone forget him but I don’t think it wiped any trace of his existence entirely

He’d still have a social security number, a drivers license, a bank account, education records, etc., it’s just that no one remembers him so if say Happy was going over Tony’s will for some reason and sees that he left some kid named Peter Parker a couple million dollars he’d be confused how this kid was so close to Tony that he would do that yet he didn’t know who he was. But the paper trail would still be there

2

u/Sure_Eye9025 Aug 02 '26

That can't really work unless digital records are erased though. J Jonah Jameson broadcase a video outing Peter as Spiderman, that has to be erased otherwise everyone just watches the video again and finds out once more.

So there is an awkward question as to which digital records would get removed and which wouldn't

6

u/Fangzzz Jul 31 '26

Note that Dr Strange's spell erased Peter Parker, but not Spiderman, hence MJ and Ned still remember being rescued by Spiderman. So I think that means he can still call in favours from the Avengers and maybe Stark industries since they'll still remember him helping in Endgame.

4

u/Overlord0123 Jul 30 '26

Nah we can only guess.

He's on good terms with a female police officer (like PS4 Yuri), DODC and still has Spider Man recognition from the Avengers so he could simply ask a favor or 2 for things he really needs.

u/percivalconstantine Jul 31 '26

Not at all and that surprised me. I was waiting for some kind of reference, like freelance web/app development or a series of gig work like Uber Eats, but nothing.

5

u/YTjedi Jul 31 '26

Oh, he's a web developer alright 😄

3

u/percivalconstantine Jul 31 '26

Captures a lot of leads.

ITS PIZZA TIME
