Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread

We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.

Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.

Use this thread to:

* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.

* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.

* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.

We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.

Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.

Do NOT:

* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.

* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.

DO:

* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.

* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

Roof walker downtown

Anyone got the scoop on this guy? He was dancing on the edge of the parapet around 630pm today. It was a wild thing to see while taking my kids to an event.

PSA - although I'm impressed, I do not condone this kind of activity. 😉

Food/Drink Looking for cafes/coffee shops to work on laptop at with the COMFIEST seats

I'm tired of the hard, flat ass wooden seats at places. I'm looking for somewhere I can post up for 2-3 hours and not have a sore ass when I leave (yay being 30s).

Honestly the best so far has been a hi way diner booth. Just curious if there are other places out there with comfy seating at a table.

How do I get child care coverage fast?

I already went to DHHS, they were supposed to call back tuesday but of course... nothing. I want my baby to start childcare in November so I can start working. I have the daycare lined up and I've been applying to jobs I think I'll get. I want childcare already lined up so I can say I can start X day at my interviews. I looked up lincoln littles after hearing they would pay a month while you wait on dhhs to figure out title 20. It took me to the iserve ne page no different than dhhs? Also the same phone number (the one with 2 hour wait times) Has anyone had luck getting child care covered recently? What did you do?

Drive-by racism on N 27th 😂

Thought maybe I cut them off or something to make them upset but nope. Just straight up, unwarranted racism.

Notice how the kid had to do a double-take to make sure his light was green before he said it.

Do you own a copy of pokemon Y for the 3ds? I would like to trade for a Spritzee.

I have X and OR and am happy to offer any version exclusives from those, or from a bunch of other pokemon games (GBA RSE/LG, P/Pt/HGSS, W/B2, X/OR, Moon, VC Crystal/Yellow, LGE, Shield, BD, Scarlet, PLA/PLZA). Looking for one specifically still in gen 6. Literally just need the species, I don't need or even want a shiny, and the stats don't have to be good.

Experiences with complete endocrinology?

Complete endo has finally decided my case is complex enough to accept my referral and I have an upcoming appointment with Ansley Mahler next week.

I have a more complex case of autoimmune thyroid disease and because my labs haven’t followed the typical pattern I’ve been really brushed off and disregarded by previous drs. Curious if anyone has experiences with complete endocrinology or even specifically Ansley Mahler regarding thyroid issues?

America First canvassers?

Did anyone get literature from the America First Party on their door today? There's a rumor that they were canvassing and I'm curious what they are passing out or leaving at doors.

Thanks!

Net structure next to Ice Box

What’s that weird net thing to the east of the Ice Box? I’ve never seen it be used, but it appears to be somewhat maintained and there’s 2 sheds there too. I always assumed it was some sort of thing for some sport, but my curiosity needs a real answer.

HOA - LED light restrictions?

For homeowners living in an HOA, do your bylaws have any restrictions on LED lights?
"not more than 30 days before or 30 days after major holidays" or similar?

No tteokbokki In Lincoln?

I’ve been really craving tteokbokki but not the instant brands like buldak. Is there genuinely no where that sells it? Also fresh kimchi and seaweed salad 😭 I’ve been craving those too and every brand I try at stores I end up not liking. Let me know guys! I would eternally be grateful to you.

I would like to join any protests happening against all republican candidates. I know I've seen in the past there are regularly scheduled ones. Thank you.

Top Soil Spreading

I know of places that sell pulverized top soil/compost/sand/etc mixes for lawns, but anyone in town do the spreading itself? Or someone for hire that could do it? I’ve done the heave and ho with a wheelbarrow and shovel and seeing if I can simplify this time around

Edit: it’s for my lawn

Has anyone gone through The Lincoln Transportation & Utilities Department to repair a sidewalk in front of their house? If so, is it an easy process, and how long does it take?

Looking for Recommendations Ceiling fan installation.

I just want a guy in a truck who can install these two fans my partner and I bought. Actually, we attempted to install the one in our bedrooms yourselves and went somewhere wrong as the fan won't turn on. The light fixture on it does. Took uals 8 hours to manage that. We also have a second one in the box still. My partner will also be a second pair of hands to help hold up the fan.

AI photos for homes and rentals

It should be monitored, labeled, and made illegal to post AI photos of spaces you are renting or selling.

One person I know went to a rental property by a well known management company and there was no toilet but the posting showed a very nice space. It was in unlivable shape. That is the most severe case but personally I’ve noticed they are using heavy AI editing for the space to look more cleanly than it truly is.

Moving and finding a space to live is daunting enough and this should be illegal.

Around Lincoln 25 hour parking warning?

24 hour*

I came home from work today to a 24 hour parking warning on my truck in front of my house. I’ve always owned 2 vehicles and have lived at my place of residence for 8 years with a vehicle in the same spot and now today it’s all of a sudden a problem.

I immediately called LPD to ask wtf it was about and the person said my truck was reported through an app. There was chalk lines around my rear tire. I moved it 3 feet ahead of the chalk lines and am waiting on a phone call tomorrow from the officer who did it.

My question is how often do they try to enforce this? Also it’s not like I have a POS out front of my house or live on a tight street where cars would have issues squeezing by.

Edit: LPD left me a voicemail explaining what happened. Somebody reported it saying it hadn’t moved in a week, yet the truck was driven all day Saturday and sat in my driveway until Sunday at 1 pm. LMAO
