New Owner My God, these things are beautiful! Back for seconds!

Had a 2022 Air Pure a few years back. Saw this guy that must've been traded in at a local Jaguar Dealership while driving by - stopped in and saw the asking price and couldn't believe it. Traded my car on the spot and snagged this Touring with DreamDrive Pro, Surreal Sound Pro, upgraded wheels, leather heated/ventilated seats, two-tone interior with ambient lighting and 360 cameras, panoramic glass roof, and keep discovering more upgrades the original owner spec'd. Love that I'm back in one of these!

New Owner 3 Days Into Lucid Ownership... LOVE the Car, But Man, the Tech! šŸ˜‚

Post image
96 Upvotes

So I just picked up a 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring bout 3 days ago, and coming from an older Model S, I have to say, overall I'm digging the car so far!

The ride quality, performance, range, interior, and overall driving experience are incredible. Lucid really did something special with the engineering of this vehicle.

But man... some of the tech has me scratching my head! šŸ˜‚

A few things I've noticed already:

  • No Summon or basic remote movement? I aint talking full self-driving here. Just the ability to move the car forward or backward remotely. My Kia EV9 can do this. I was genuinely surprised Lucid doesn't offer something similar. Just use it to back us out the garage so others can jump in
  • No built-in dashcam? This one really shocked me. With all the cameras and sensors around this thing, how is there no way to record footage while driving or parked? Seems like such an obvious feature to have.
  • DreamDrive... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! šŸ˜‚ Maybe it's just me learning the system, but activating it feels unnecessarily clunky compared to what I'm used to. And once it's active, the car CONSTANTLY beeps at me! Even just sitting in Houston traffic. Half the time I have absolutely no clue what I've done to upset it! I'm just sitting there trying to enjoy the drive, and apparently DreamDrive has other plans. šŸ˜‚

Crazy part is these aren't groundbreaking technologies anymore. They're features I've gotten accustomed to in other EVs, so I guess I assumed a vehicle with $154k sticker would have them too.

And that's what makes it so surprising. The actual engineering of this car is phenomenal. The efficiency, performance, and driving dynamics are seriously impressive. It drives like a performance car! But the software feels several years behind in certain areas.

Now granted, I'm only 3 days in, so I'm sure there's plenty I haven't figured out yet. And I'm not regretting my purchase one bit! I'm genuinely excited about this car.

But I'm curious about a few things from longtime owners:

  1. Is DreamDrive really this sensitive, or am I missing something with how I'm using it?
  2. Has Lucid ever discussed adding Sentry Mode, dashcam recording, or remote vehicle movement?
  3. Are there any settings, tricks, or updates I should know about that make the overall tech experience better?

I'd love to hear from those who've had their Airs for a while. I'm hoping some of this is just a learning curve because I really do love this car! šŸ˜‚

Lucid Motors Lucid Owners, is it worth it?

• Upvotes

I’m looking at buying a 2024 lucid air touring because of the high mileage. Although I’ve heard great reviews of the car, I’ve heard mixed and mostly bad reviews about the customer service and getting it maintenanced. I plan on buying preowned, so the car is between 40 and 60 K instead of the super high original price. What are some common issues that need maintenance? Also, are people still experiencing the issues of customer service not answering the phones? Does it still take a long time to get maintenance?

Question / Advice Gravity making a clicking noise when accelerating and decelerating a low speeds

I might be crazy but today when driving my Gravity I noticed for the first time that when I accelerate at low speed I hear a click when actuating the gas pedal - when I press and when I let go. I currently have my Gravity on Hold instead of Creep. I've always had it on Hold since day 1. When in Creep mode, I don't hear it.

I noticed this today when parking in the garage. But I'm wondering if this is normal? Car drives fine but that clicking sound was new to me.

I took delivery of the Gravity in June.

Thanks in advance.

Question / Advice Please give us the option to not auto-start charging session if above a percent

I charge at home so I can just plug my car in when it needs to charge and leave it alone until the next time I drive. Since I work from home, sometimes I might go a day or two without driving, that is pretty normal. When I had my Model 3 this really wasn't a big deal because I could set my charging limit and charging minimum and just leave my car plugged in until the next I drive.

I could tell it charge up to 80% but if above 60%, do not automatically start a charging session.

With my Lucid, it charges up to 80% and then because of passive unlocks or sometimes just sitting idle, it will slightly dip down to 79% and immediately start a charging session.

Please Lucid, give me the very simple setting to fix this.

Lucid Motors Any chance LUCID supports CarPlay Ultra?

After engaging with the new UX, I found its voice interaction lacking. It doesn’t understand the specific locales in my city or neighborhood and always aggregates the entire city. Any chance they can embrace a system that just works?ā€ That seem like the ULTIMATE luxury…

Honestly, I just want my car open sourced!

Question / Advice Trade Air for Gravity

Anybody traded in their Lucid Air for a Gravity? Did you get the trade-in allowance? Trying to see if I can get $3k above KBB value, which would fully pay off the debt on the car.

Question / Advice Changing tires on leased car

Hi guys, what’s your opinion on what I should do next? I’ve got a Lucid Air with 6 months left on the lease. One particular tire got a nail in it. I took it to Discount Tire, and they are forcing me to change it. The treads are around 3/32. I’ve got 10k miles on the car. I took it to Costco, and they surprisingly sent me away saying they patch all car tires except for Lucid, which is like complete bs in my opinion. What does a car make have to do with patching tires?
Putting new tires on a leased car doesn’t make sense to me, esp when I have 6 months left. What do you all suggest?

Question / Advice There’s a lot of Lucid hate and doubt out there right now. Is it bots? Is it outdated info? What do you think? Here are my thoughts as a new owner!

So I just recently became a Lucid owner and so far I’ve found the vehicle to be pretty great. It absolutely lives up to its luxury claims, the massive amount of space, and it’s just overall comfort.

The software has, in general, done a 180 degree turn to the better just within the past few months (speaking from a Gravity pov). The keyfob just works. The crazy phantom error messages seem to be behaving themselves and Lucid has made meaningful efforts by introducing Dream Drive hands free, matrix headlights, bringing the Air software up to date to match Gravity, etc. That’s not to say there isn’t many more features that have been promised that need to be prioritized and released (Paak, point to point self driving, etc).

So what’s the problem then? Well imo the problem is that Lucid released the Gravity to reviewers FAR too early before they knew the software was ready. And naturally the reviews absolutely šŸ’© on the vehicles reliability, the software glitches, horrendous keyfob issues, etc. It was pretty much a media bloodbath for many many months. People do not easily forget a first impression and that’s reflected in the social media comments I’ve been seeing for a very long time now. ā€œLucid is deadā€, ā€œThey are full of bugsā€, ā€œI would like a Lucid but I’m too scared of the company and its reliabilityā€.

Do I think a lot of these comments are bots…. yes I do. I’ve witnessed it many times on this sub-Reddit. But it’s not all bots. Lucid still has put a bad taste in a lot of potential owners mouths with the disappointing Gravity launch. I think it’s going to take quite awhile for public opinion to turn around.

I will end by saying people need to remember most don’t come online to praise anything; they come online to complain and inquire about a problem. I think as a vehicle community it’s great to have a balance of the good and the bad. I hope to post here about my ownership journey and maybe share some things that other owners have not!

Question / Advice What if….

We are considering leasing a gravity, but my husband is concerned about the longevity of the company. He wants some sort of assurance that someone will be around to service the vehicle and perform any repairs in the event that the company ceases to exist. Does anyone here share those concerns about the future of lucid? Has anyone here had a conversation with them about these concerns?

Question / Advice Home link

Anyone else have issues connecting homelink to your existing garage doors? I take the remote to the front and it beeps and does all the things but it won't allow the garage doors to go up and down? What else can I do to fix this?

Question / Advice FYI: You can create a shortcut for vehicle functions so you don't have to open the app! If you have an iPhone with the Action Button it makes it seamless!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just create the menu and options in the Shortcuts app (like I showed in the video) and then go into your iPhone settings, action button, shortcut, and select the shortcut you created.

If you don't have an iPhone with the action button you can add the shortcut to your Home Screen as a widget!

Lucid Motors Lucid Connected Home Charger flashing white light

I just noticed the logo on my LCHS is flashing white. I haven't used the charger for several days, and it wasn't flashing earlier today. I've never seen this before and have no clue what it might be. The manual says that this flashing at 100% brightness indicates it is charging, but the charger isn't hooked up to my car. Thoughts?

Air Grand Touring Used 2022 Lucid Air GT

I am looking at a used 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring and thought I would check with everyone here on what to check before I buy the car. I know I need to update the infotainment which costs $1000. What about known issues, accessories, key fobs, or anything else I should check and make sure are included?

I did notice the blind spot camera in the instrument cluster was not smooth. Is that because the car does not have the latest infotainment update? Did UX3 make it clear and without lag?

Has anyone in Texas leased through Lucid Financial, traded in a financed vehicle, received the positive equity back by check, and still had the full trade-in value reduce the taxable amount on the lease?

Lucid Motors Thoughts as I turn in my 2025 Lucid Air lease.

I’m turning in my 2025 lucid air pure on Thursday and picking up my new Rivian R2.

My experience with lucid has been bittersweet. after driving it. for 20,000 miles I have developed a keen understanding of this car, what makes it great, and its many shortcomings.

What’s good? Overall, the car is extremely well built. It drives beautifully. And it looks great. The materials have always felt luxurious, and the ride is extremely comfortable. The ability to to potentially achieve 400+ miles on a charge has been great.

What’s bad? Well, my main gripe with this car is the tech. They seem to be so far behind Tesla, it’s not even funny. Very few things associated with the technology work well. For example, I have never been able to walk up to the car and have it unlock. I have to take out my phone, open the app, hold the phone near the rear passenger door handle. The system has completely shut down on numerous occasions. The software updates do not appear to offer any improvement to anything worth experiencing. The sound system will randomly start playing out of only one speaker. People who I talk to on the phone have universally expressed how badly the sound is when talking to me through the ā€˜s mic. There are certain mysterious sounds that persist and have never been addressed. because the source was not revealed. Squeaking under the seat… Vibration, sounding like a blown speaker in the back. The frunk never opens and closes easily. It always takes a couple of tries to open it and to close it requires getting in and out of the car several times to manually get it to latch properly.

Service: getting your car serviced is next to impossible. I live in Los Angeles, where there are a couple of service centers. It literally takes months to get an appointment. Even for the recall that happened earlier this year, it took two months to get in for service. I am turning the car in on Thursday with no fewer than six warning lights visible on the dashboard, which are continuously illuminated, along with a message indicating that the front camera is not working. I made my appointment to get it fixed two months ago, and they couldn’t get it on the books until November.

Sales. The guy that helped me when I purchased the car was great. However, I have been shocked to find out that Lucid has absolutely no desire to retain me as a customer. I have received no calls, no offers of incentive, seemingly no interest in getting me into another car when my lease ends. I have had two Teslas and drove them from 2019 to 2025. At the end of my lease on each occasion, the company made me feel like they truly valued my business and offered me many things to come back. Not being a fan of Elon, there was nothing that they could do to keep me with the brand. What they did, however, was show just how exceptional their retention team is. They were relentless and it seemed that I could have literally written my own deal.

Overall, I would give my lucid experience a C+. I don’t know that I would have been convinced to acquire another lucid, but it would’ve been nice to know that they appreciated my business.

Question / Advice Wheels

Post image
18 Upvotes

I just ordered a set of dedicated 19s with snow tires for my 25 AGT. My plan was to install them myself. I have a jack at home and I think it's 1.5 tons. Is that enough to lift one wheel at a time? Or do I need to up my jack for safety since the vehicle weight is so much more?

Lucid Motors Service is a problem, at least in SoCal

This isn’t a ā€œsometimesā€ issue in my area. It’s persistent for at least the last year.

I try to use the mobile app to schedule a repair service. Describe the problem, pick my local service center, and then… I arrive at the calendar.

The calendar which never shows any availability until the maximum time span it covers.

And the app is somehow not equipped to deal with this very persistent state of things and dead ends my request, wasting my time.

The first year I owned this car (2023) mobile service was great. Quick scheduling in the app, at home courteous service. But now things seem to be permanently out of balance.

I know the workaround is the hassle of getting someone on the phone, but it never used to be this way and it shouldn’t be this bad with a high end car.

Is it the same everywhere, or is this just a victim of Lucid’s success in the SoCal area?
