I Followed Posting Rules Got rid of 15 year long persistent dandruff in two weeks Spoiler

Post image

Hi, i have been dealing with persistent dandruff/malassezia/sebborhic dermatitis since I was in school. I went for all kinds of treatments, from dermats precribing me steroid ointments and tar shampoos that made hair wiry and dry, to coconut oil massages overnight with ayurvedic scalp masks. Nothing helped and my dandruff came back in a few days for sure. It started get more problematic as in the last 3-4 years it spread into my chin, my eyebrows and sometimes around my nose as well. I was extremely tired of visiting dermats who seem to be hell bent of just prescribing clobetasol to resolve this everytime. Finally, i did a full hour long research and rant session with gemini pro, and figured out the best combo of products for me. I was earlier using scalpe pro and loreal hyaluronic conditioner, but i think the conditioner was doing more damage due to my short hair plus lipids in the conditioner that malassezia yeast fed upon.

My combo now basically does the following:

Scalpe plus : Lifts out the loose flakes, cleansout the scalp
Arata conditioner : amazing find by google, probanly the only scalp application conditioner, it kills the yeast causing malassezia actively, i did spot treatments with it on my eyebrows and chin too
Ordinary squalane oil : moisturizes hair and face without containing any lipids that will encourage malassezia to grow again

Im two weeks into this regime and my scalp is almost clean. Really happy and sharing this in case someone else has suffered like me with it for years.

Need help with skin- a 9 month old story

I have been dealing with this painful, itchy face problem for months now. Initially, it was just acne and came and went. It was there for around a year but the base skin was still good so I let it heal naturally. Later I shifted from Dombivli to Virar and it’s like my skin has gotten angry on me for it. Initially it didn’t itch or pain but now I find myself scratching the acne in my sleep. I have a big professional thing coming up in November end and I don’t want to go on stage with this kind of acne.

I have tried salicylic acid, retinol, azeliac acid, moisturer, sunscreen, aloe Vera gel, serums, almost everything that I thought could help at different stages in point. I saw a couple dermats in Dombivli around 10-11 months ago but that didn’t help either.

Posting here is my last hope. I’m 32 btw.

Story time
So I’m a sensitive skin acne prone skin type. On my recent vacation, I broke out into literal hives due to the air in the flight.
A few days before this I was in another airport buying goodies from duty free when I picked up this LRP moisturiser by mistake instead of the LRP Baume.

Fast forward to when I got the hives, I had just this moisturiser and sunscreen on me- I checked with my derm and she said this was my best option; other stores near me didn’t have many products that would suit my skin type, so I went ahead and used it….and it very miraculously calmed my skin down and healed my skin barrier in under 2 days. Literally- not even joking. (Note- I can’t explain how bad it was, my face was red and swollen and itchy EVERYWHERE).
Once I came back to India I scoured the internet for this moisturiser but it turns out it’s exclusively sold in Guardian only, and therefore can’t be bought in any other counties. I had my friends flying in from other counties to check duty free as well, but no luck!

I then saw my dermatologist a few weeks after I was back, and after doing some research on why it worked for me and what I can use going forward- we landed on the Minimalist B5 10% moisturiser. And boy, I LOVE it. Been using it religiously, and the difference it has made to my skin hydration and texture is INCREDIBLE.

For context-
I have had extremely sensitive skin all my life. I turn red and break out very easily. And it’s taken years of changing products, going on medication and some procedures like laser and micro needling to bring my skin to a manageable stage. Now that it’s in a better place (even after one of the worst breakouts of my life) we decided to switch to a calm hydrating routine.

How I use the minimalist moisturiser: (day)

  1. Cetaphil gentle cleanser
  2. When my face is damp- I add the ordinary hyaluronic acid serum
  3. I then layer the minimalist moisturiser on top while still damp.
  4. Once dry, I use the Eclipse Solair SPF 50 PA++++ mineral sunscreen.

P.S. - The minimalist moisturiser texture might not be for everyone. LRP was a smooth liquid consistency. Minimalist is more of a thick gel types and you need to work it into your skin- which is why using it on damp skin is amazing 🤌🏻🤌🏻

And my skin has NEVER been calmer and kind to me. ❤️

I Followed Posting Rules HELPPP!! 1 month-old chin scar after an accident, what would you do to fade it? Spoiler

Post image

I had a minor accident about 15 days ago and fell on my face, scraping my chin. The wound has completely closed now, but it left behind a slightly raised, brown mark.

It also feels a little tight/stretchy when I move my chin, although I feel like the raised part is already starting to flatten. Can somebody tell me what I can do to make it go away? Or at least lighten it?

Skin type: Sensitive, oily and acne prone.

i have been considering paula choice skin perfecting exfoliater but the price is what bothers me for now. Adaplene im too scared to start without a dermats consultation and i can’t afford to start purging for the next few months.

I want this texture or whatever it is cleared before i can start fixing my acne marks and scars.

Also is purging going to appear only in parts where i can see these comedones or all of my face?

I Followed Posting Rules Reviewing all moisturisers I have Spoiler

Edit- I have dry to normal skin type

Recently I got severe retinol burns, dry patches and damaged skin barrier from overuse of actives.

Since then I had been on a hunt for hydrating moisturiser that can heal my damaged skin.

At first I got Aquasoft FC, I got this after I saw everyone raving about this cream but its just isnt for me. Its not hydrating enough and if i try to apply a generous amount it pills and makes me sweat.
Its feels like you have applied a makeup primer on your face as it has a very silicony feel to it. A 2/5 for me

I then got Dot and Key barrier repair moisturiser when i saw no improvement in dry patches. I loved this moisturiser. It has a very lightweight texture and gives instant hydration.
The only downside is you will have to keep reapplying as my skin got dry again after just 2-3 hours of using this. Also, it didnt help with my skin barrier at all even after using it for 30 days. However its great as a daily moisturiser. A 4/5 for me.

I was layering La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume on top of my dot and key moisturiser. It is not a typical moisturiser. It did help with my barrier a little but wasnt a game changer for me. I thought I wasted my money on this until I used this with a different moisturiser. It doesn’t do much on its own.
I now have realised that it really locks the moisture in very well. Its just that I wasnt using the right product underneath. Now I love it. A 4.5/5 for me.

Bioderma moisturiser was a game changer. It was recommended to me by my dermat. Honestly, it is very underrated. It healed a lot of my dry patches in just a few days. I layer this with cicaplast balm (the GOAT duo) and i wake up with the softest skin.
It not only helped with the dehydration but also the skin texture. My skin has become very smooth since I started using this. It is super hydrating yet you wont feel like something is suffocating your skin. I recommend this to everyone with dry skin. A 5/5 for me.

I have been using Himalaya moisturiser for years. It is great in hot and humid weather or if you have super oily skin. Very lightweight and gives just the perfect amount of hydration in humid weather. Not suitable for winters though. A 4/5 for me.

I Followed Posting Rules Closed comedones all over my shoulders and back. Started with retinoids and hoping to see some progress NSFW Spoiler

I have had these skin coloured bumps all over my upper arms, shoulders and back for the last few years. Only recently I got to know that these are called closed comedones. I have tried using 20% urea body lotion, glycolic acid. But it hasn’t reduced at all. I have recently started using a mild retinoid twice a week. But not sure if it’ll improve
