YouTube Video A Better Democracy
DISCLAIMER: I am neither opposition paglu nor modi ji paglu
I just feel we should take these protests as an opportunity to improve our democracy instead of just protecting it.
I mean, even if Gyanu resigns, what will really change?
I mean, have you wondered why there are only 2 blocs in national & state politics?
Even if there was a independent politician / party whose views you (yes you individually) fully agreed with but was not of NDA or UPA, most of you wouldn't vote for them as you believe he has no chance to win and you don't want to waste your vote.
Further, since you need a plurality (more votes than others) to win a constituency, there can be MPs & MLAs who win elections even if they did not get majority (i.e more than 50% did not vote for him).
Ultimately, you end up voting for one of 2 compromise candidates. And then it's assumed that if you don't like bj party you love pappu and vice versa.
So why don't we request CJP to also protest for something like ranked choice voting & proportionate representation along with other systemic changes as long as the momentum is high? (I mean obviously no political party (BJP or Congress) wants ranked choice voting as it screws them)
What other democratic measures would you like to implement so that people get to elect who they actually want?
