Looking for a group to join a sports league (or something similar)

35 M here. Married, work full time (sometimes on weekends). Moved to Guelph 4 years ago with my wife and haven't really been able to branch out and make any local friends. I blame work for keeping me so busy that I genuinely don't know where the time went - even though I know it's my fault too for not trying to reach out sooner.

I'm pretty athletic (I think?) and I think I can slot in well into most sports once I learn how to play. I've spent most of my life doing solo sports like running and swimming and would like to try out something more team based.

Posting here to gauge interest and hopefully find like-minded/ aged people to connect with. My other interests do include DnD (unfortunately the local community does not seem to be that big) and select video/ board games.

Is anyone interested? Are there any sports leagues out there looking for an extra player who probably will need a minute to learn your game? Anyone up for DnD/ board game nights?

Hi, I work at Kohbukan Judo and just saw this message now. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

Without knowing details about your hyperhidrosis, I agree with u/ilikesynthsandcats that unless it's so bad you're slipping on the mat, I don't think it'd be an issue. Dealing with lots of sweat is kind of normal in Judo, for anyone.

Feel free to ask any further questions you have, or go ahead and contact us or sign up through the website. We'd be glad to have you out.

I don't think I'll be slipping on the matt to be honest. I think it may be worth a shot to try out because Frisbee really didn't pan out for me. Even at the lowest division people were miles ahead of me and there was a fairly steep learning curve that I only started to catch up to right as the season was ending.

Do people ever just join for the fun of the sport (judo)? I don't really care to learn how to defend myself
