I recently received my pre-order NG Ultimate for Alaska 787, opened the box, and could help but be disappointed by the gradient in the Aurora on the tail. The Air Canada in the photos is a Phoenix A340 from the early 2000s.
I started collecting in the early 2000s, with an over 2 decade break between then and resuming my collection in the past year, but I can’t help but feel that the paint quality should have improved in more than it has over those two decades. I feel like the AC is more true to the real thing than the Alaska.
Am I the only one? Is my suspicion correct that we will likely never have great gradients on models?

Hey everyone! I've been collecting model planes (mostly 1:200 and 1:72) for quite a while now, but I'm pretty new to the online community.
So far I've mostly bought my models in person so I can check their condition, either from model shops or at flea markets and aviation fairs like the AACF in Amsterdam.
I was wondering how you guys usually find models you're looking for? Do you mostly buy them online or prefer going to physical stores and fairs too?
Would love to hear how everyone else goes about collecting and finding new models!

But I'm wondering if the models are good quality mainly the 1/200 and 1/400 scale models and which size out of those two is better to collect especially if I want to collect lots of them

So I’ve been buying a lot of MD-11s lately, all of which are recent JC Wings and Gemini jets ones, which are the same mold under different brands.
I bought UPS MD-11 N282UP which was released in 2023. And it’s missing the antenna along with does not have rolling landing gear. While not a huge deal, when looking at it further, the gear doesn’t look correct at all or like it’s from an earlier model. Compare it to the Lufthansa cargo variant which came out 2 years prior. The spacing between the trucks are different and the UPS is missing the hinges on the gear completely.
Has anyone experienced this before?

Hello everyone,
I'm looking to purchase a JFOX / JFI 1:200 Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300ER B-KPL in the original oneworld livery.
Model details:
I'm specifically looking for the JFOX release, NOT the JC Wings version.
This model has been on my wanted list for quite some time, and I'm very interested in acquiring one.
A complete example with its original box and accessories would be ideal. I'm also happy to consider a carefully kept pre-owned example.
I'm based in Shenzhen, China, and can arrange international shipping.
If you have one available, or know another collector who might be willing to sell, please feel free to send me a private message.
I'm a serious buyer and willing to discuss a fair price.
Many thanks!

Very obscure here but I am moving and have a couple of models displayed that have just an empty box to move them in, no plastic insert. I probably stupidly threw them out way back when I got these models.
I know how much of a long shot it is but does anyone have a plastic insert for an NG 1:400 A350-900 and a Boeing 757-300. Both regular and non ultimate edition. I don’t need a box, literally just those inserts.
If anyone has one for either of both laying around, I’d gladly pay shipping to get it to me so I can safely transport these! Thank you

Revell 1:144 Ilyushin IL86 in the S7 Siberia Airlines livery
It was a fun little project and I particularly enjoyed trying to make the plane look as dirty and grungy as possible. Applying the decals turned out to be a much bigger pain in the butt than i expected, but overall I’m very happy with the result!

Finally had the time to add grass to the airport. It makes a big difference and I would definitely recommend. It was my first time doing it so there is room for improvement. Any feedback is welcome.
For those curious as to the process:
Mixed Modge podge and water, then painted that on between the painters tape. Then sprinkled on loose grass from Michael’s. I then shook the loose grass off, and put loose grass back on the bare spots. Then did a 1:4 Modge podge to water ratio and sprayed that on top to secure it. Then I removed the tape and boom.
