Apply to moderate
If you already pull over for historical markers and answer strangers' questions about old photos, you're doing most of a moderator's job for free. We'd like to make it official. Apply here. It's seven short questions.
The sub has about 3,100 members and it's growing, so the work is real and people notice it.
What we look for
A real Texas connection, shown by your post and comment history in Texas-related communities before you apply. We'll check it.
Regular original posts about Texas that aren't politics: history, landmarks, folklore, culture, community stories. Regular likes and comments on other people's non-political posts, too, because the sub needs more than its political threads.
Time to check the mod queue and answer modmail. Willingness to apply every rule the same way, including the disinformation rule, whatever someone's politics. No history of harassment, bigotry or ban evasion.
What mods do
Review the queue and reports, remove what breaks the rules, answer modmail, keep discussion civil while still letting people argue, and post and comment so the place stays alive. New mods get a mod guide, saved removal reasons and help from the team.
