Kevin McGonigle Card Questions

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but my 13 year old Kevin McGonigle fanatic nephew wanted me to do this favor for him and ask you guys about this:
He pulled the card shown in photos but is concerned about the (cutting defect?) notch in the top right of the card. He wanted me to ask your community if he should send the card to Topps for a replacement. He said he was accepted for a replacement (whatever that means).
He put it right into a sleeve when he pulled it, the scratches look like they are from the sleeves.
Thats all the info I have and said I would do him this favor so any info or input you all have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance!

For fans who hate the DODGERS or YANKEES, If the TIGERS owner also had a "Champion or bust" mentality and spared no expense to other teams frustration, would you then hate the TIGERS?

World Series championship drought

How many of you who, like me, were alive and old enough to remember the World Series titles in 1968 and 1984 would have imagined or believed that it would be 42 years and counting without another World Series championship? I know I thought that 1984 team would be a dynasty and probably win a couple more. It was only 16 years between those 2 championships and the Tigers were normally one of the better teams in baseball up until the 1989 season when the wheels started to fall off. They put together some good teams later under Dombrowski but couldn't get it done in the end. Unbelievable but here we are.

EDIT - I just was thinking also this is the Tigers longest ever championship drought since they've been a major league team starting in 1901. 35 years for the first one, 10 years until the next one, 23 years until the 3rd one, then 16 years until the 1984 team. Now it's been 42 years without another one.

EDIT 2 - I think younger fans are missing my point. The Tigers were a contender for the AL title every single year of the 1960s except for 1960 and 1963. Without the disastrous Jim Bunning trade they undoubtedly would have made more than 1 World Series in that decade. After a down year in 1970, they came very close to winning in 1971 and did win the division in 1972 only being a Reggie Jackson steal of home (or a misplayed fly ball by Duke Sims) away from another WS appearance. In 1973 they were in first place late in the season. That core got old in 74 and after a down year in 75 they started to climb right back. A great new young core arrived in 77 (Fidrych in 76) and the Tigers were in the race every year right up until 1989. So for my entire life, except for a couple exceptions, the Tigers were a premier team and fans were spoiled or fully expecting that to continue. Mr. Fetzer sold the team, Jim Campbell left (great talent evaluator and trader, horrible cheapskate), and the downhill skid started. Except for those few years under Leland and Dombrowski it's never been the same. I'm hoping this young core can change that, it's the first time the farm system has really produced a group of players with this much potential since the Trammell/Whitaker/Parish/Morris/Gibson etc. group came up in the late 70s. That's a LONG time. Rant over sorry.

Who's going to be there with him when JV goes on the Tigers "Mt. Rushmore of pitchers?"

I have mixed emotions watching JV going out there and throw his final game for the Olde English D today. As a die hard Tigers fan from the WS of 68, it got me thinking about who the greatest of all the Tigers pitchers are? I know we have four in Cooperstown: Jim Bunning, Hal Newhouser, Jack Morris and Waite Hoyt (who only spent two of his years with the Tigers). So, in light of that, which 4 have the top cases to belong on the Tigers Mt. Rushmore (once JV's career is in the rear view mirror and he is HofF eligible)? I'll start with my four: Newhouser, Morris, JV, and Mickey Lolich. I considered others like John Hiller, Denny McLain, and Max Scherzer as well, but for a variety of reasons, didn't think they made the final four cut. Who are you putting on it?

Dillon Dingler

I have a large collection of Dillon Dingler rookie cards that I need to sell. I just sold 5 #1/10 cards on ebay. Currently have a lot of #1/5, #1/3, #1/25, #1/50, and etc.

Please message me if interested. I am really upset with the fees Ebay took on the 5 cards I just sold. I am hoping to find a collecting with the money to buy the rest. I am willing to travel to get all of these cards into the right hands of someone who will appreciate them.

Reason for selling: I am moving out of country for a few years off grid. I will not be keeping anything state side that I own. Thank you

I’m attending a game at Comerica Park. I’ve both never been to the park and never used my wheelchair at an event. What do I need to know before I go with my chair? We’re in section 324. Idk how accessible seating works there. There wasn’t an option to select accessible seating but I’m with my kids and some friends. How does that work?

We’re arriving just as the game starts (I can’t leave work early) so I don’t want to be stuck waiting for accommodations.

Thank you!
