hey guys! like i said last time i usually try not to ask for fic recs bc i can easily go searching instead of clogging up the sub but i cant really find any in this particular scenario so im asking if anyone has any fic recs.

when i say that i mean sam being a little worried about sam and cas being together/sleeping together i mean sam being worried that dean is just trying to have a fwb thing going on/is scared their relationship is going to crash and burn bc of something dean does. or even something cas does. but i feel like he knows dean is more likely to self sabotage - esp transitioning from “friendship” to romantic relationship. now do i think this is a bit ooc for sam? a little. i also don’t think he thinks dean would be a bad boyfriend … i just think he would think that way in the beginning of their relationship bc it’s dean and cas.

but anyways i’m still craving to read a fic like this. i think it would work best and make most sense early seasons but i’ll take anything.

And a tiny self promo I guess? Just sharing my love to destiel <3

Please take down if not allowed!!! I just wanted to share my fic with those who are as crazy about them as I am.

General premise - Dean dies after Sam falls into the cage, and Cas ends up traveling back in time to Dean right before he meets up with Sam the first time.

read the fic on ao3 here

it’s been stuck in my head…it’s a slavery AU but there’s domes? and chuck is cas’ dad and he invented some form of shock collars for the slaves. cas works for dick roman and dean is the slave but he became a slave in sam’s place because they were both part of the resistance? and there’s something with the domes failing and the bees and dick roman wanting dean? and cas’ siblings are evil and chuck like regrets all of his actions? please help me find it

edit: i think they were domes of some kind? idk its been a while but it was either like individual planets or domes or bubbles or islands or something where cities were separated by each other but joined by these tunnels

I've dived deep back into SPN after a 10 year break and am devouring and saving fanfics like you would not believe. I also have a surgery coming up where I'll be laid up for a week or more afterwards, so I'm hoping you lovely folks can help me find some fics that scratch a particular itch...

I love S4/5 Cas in all his subtle emotionality and angelic badassery. (I also love soft Cas from subsequent seasons, but S4/5 Cas was intimidating and Cas/Dean scenes from that era have a delicious tension that will always hold a special place in my heart).

I also love fics that emphasize Cas' angelic nature, angel lore, higher perceptiveness of angels, etc. And I saw this post on Tumblr (now lost deep in my list of likes) that included fanart where Sam had acquired an object that let him see into another plane of existence and that Cas had all these angelic eyes relentlessly honed in on an oblivious Dean, even when Sam caught his attention and Cas' vessel looked at Sam. And damn if that post didn't stick with me.

So, per the title of my post - does anyone have any fic recs that keep a S4/5 Cas characterization but where Cas' changing feelings for Dean become evident from changes in his wings, bursts of his grace (e.g., in charged emotional moments), glimpses of his true form responding to Dean, stuff like that? Or where other angels/demons make note of Cas' angelic claim of sorts on Dean (e.g. either his hand print or other forms of angelic marking that Dean and Sam wouldn't be aware of)?

No need to check all the boxes, of course, there's so many fanfics out there that I don't know how niche an ask this is. Canon universe and canon divergence preferred, though AU with Cas still being an angel is fine too. No A/B/O, just not my cup of tea. I also do prefer longer fics, but beggars can't be choosers.

You got 'em, I want 'em!

does anyone have any well written canonverse fics? i feel like i've read them all already so all recommendations are more than welcome✊ especially underrated fics which don't have that many kudos (yet)

Looking for more fics to read, preferably long. Preferably young Dean and older Cas. I also like dark themes.

Just read Ramble On where Cas is a trucker and Dean is a hooker, it was beautiful.

Also currently up to date on Come alive in the heat, fucking beautiful.

Also read a fic where Dean moves in the building and Cas helps him setup in his new apt but hacks into his computers and lowkey stalks him. Plot twist was amazing.

I don’t know I really like the simple fics a lot, where they both have a straight forward kind of role. I just finished a fic where Cas is a priest who moved to town and Dean is a mechanic who wants to leave his town.

I read it a few years ago on ao3, and I think it might have gotten deleted, but I wanted to check? I just got the itch to read it again.

Dean and Cas are teachers, but they are rivals until they are both made advisors on a knowledge bowl (science bowl? somthing like that) team. The rivalry is just on Dean's side for the most part.

it's a long fic! I just can't find it in my ao3 history, however this might be because my history is very long.

Thanks in advance! Even knowing that it was deleted would bring me some piece of mind!!!

I just read Dean Winchester and the Belly Button Piercing by Trenchcoat_Paradigm and loved it. Now I'm looking for fanfics like this, or more specifically just Dean seducing Cas. Please please please help me.

What are your favorite Destiel crossover fics? Doesn’t really matter what the other show/movie/other is. I found a few in this sub but I’m looking for more / newer ones.

Hiiii I'm wondering if anyone can point me to some well written fics that arent smutty. Im ace and would love fics where cas is ace too, but theyre still clearly together in a romantic way. Like kissing and handsy is fine but anything beyond that probably is about where i'd tap out lol. Im new to fanfic so im having a hard time sorting through everything on ao3 so if anyone has some good starting points i would love u forever 🙈

I don't know, I was watching this scene and I saw that shot of Dean looking a Cas with that face that clearly says "Yeah, I'm getting my 4ss fucked tonight"

Ok ok i won’t gatekeep this anymore…

YOU MUST READ THE FIC In all your borrowed finery but vanishingact! IT IS PEAKEST OF PEAK, coming from a diehard destiel shipper here this fic is one of the first i read and probably the best it’s funny and a au but still fits the farm grimacing vibe of supernatural, anyways it’s great and you should read it.. that is all… for now

I'm desperately trying to find some fics with established Destiel, lots of fluff and some smut, retired from hunting.

Preferably something not super long cuz I have no self control and will stay up until 3am reading.

I've been obsessing over angsty long-ish destiel fanfictions and I think some of them havent been recomended here in a while!

Some are popular but not mentioning them is a crime. Also, they're all canon compliant or canon divergent.

Strandlines (40k) angst

It’s September 18, 2008. Castiel is being deployed to rescue Dean Winchester from Hell.

He lands in Dean Winchester’s motel room in 2003. Things go from there.

Undone (27k) angst

Cas falls in stages. He likes some of them better than others. ENDVERSE.

A Lot Like Falling (88k) angst and fluff

Post-Swan Song AU. It’s just your run-of-the-mill monster hunt until Castiel suddenly powers down and loses all his mojo faster than a hooker siphoning petrol from the back of a customer’s truck.

any port in a storm (52k) angst and fluff

The angels have fallen, leaving Castiel graceless and Dean with, well, more of other people’s problems. When a string of couples goes missing on the east coast, Dean and Cas decide to investigate—and find themselves trapped and hunted on a couples’ counseling cruise

The Legend of the White Light (50k) angst

Set during and after Purgatory.

Castiel knows one thing for sure: he has to keep running. He has to keep Leviathan away from Dean until Dean can get out of this place.

Dean Winchester knows one thing for sure: he tried with everything he had to get Cas out of Purgatory. But he failed.

The Benjamin Franklin Key-and-Kite Experiment (122k) heavy angst had me crying like a baby

“Thank you for stopping by, Dean,” Emmanuel says, holding out the jacket. “I hope to see you in church on Sunday.”

Or 1.12 but Dean's faith healer is Emmanuel!Cas

Forgotten and Flight (160k + 319k) heavy heavy angst and sum fluff

Sam and Dean are working a case in Wyoming, but are distracted by news of a dangerous angel called "Castiel" who they can't remember ever having heard of before. The name seems a little bit familiar, but neither of the boys is sure why.

+

Sequel to Forgotten. A/U from mid season 9. Castiel is human and wounded, and Dean and Sam need to get his grace back - and his wings.

- smutty bonuses

A Room Of One's Own (90k) angst but mostly smut

All Dean wants is a little privacy. Cas doesn't understand.

Epilogue (27k) angst and lots of smut

Cas is no longer when he was. Lucifer sent him back.

Coda to 'The End'.

i wanted to share my destiel fanart with fellow enjoyers!! they are my top ship of all time and i plan on making more pieces soon too.

I just rewatched season 6 ep 1 where dean was so gutted after finding out that Bobby and Sam purposefully keeping him out of the loop abt Sam's resurrection for the whole time.

I'd like to read a fic with similar situation but around Cas' death. maybe Cas comes back but he doesn't come back to Dean & Sam for whatever reasons. it doesn't have to be post confession in s15e18, canon divergence from any of cas' death (cuz he died too many times) is fine. any recommendations?

I've read Horror Vacui and The soul burns brighter than the sun

I need some fic recs of the best high school AU destiel stories out there, I'll take any tbh but I'm mostly interested in Cas being the shy confused guy who doesnt get why Dean the social butterfly (maybe a new student or your regular school hottie) wants to befriend him and keeps talking to him

Castiel for Inktober (Made by me)

"Looking for a specific Destiel Omegaverse / Soulmate AU. Omega Castiel is very poor, lives in a bad neighborhood/ghetto for omegas, and works two jobs: he is a teacher during the day and a waiter at night (at Ellen's Roadhouse or a restaurant). Alpha Dean is wealthy and owns a classic car restoration shop / showroom. Castiel serves Dean at the restaurant and realizes they are soulmates, but Dean is currently dating Cassie Robinson. Does anyone have the title, author, or a PDF link?"

Literally. I've been rewatching season 10 and Cas spent the last of Theo's grace trying to get to Dean while he was a demon, and basically spent the entire second grace on researching the Mark of Cain.

Dude was dying and his main priority was still Dean. He didnt even start trying to save himself until the very end
