This is in Canada, not sure about anywhere else

How do i take the ingredients of this dairy free cheese and recreate it.

Aldi has this dairy free cheese shred that while not the best or even tasting all that much like cheese it has a very nice something that it adds to various foods especially eggs. If I have everything in the ingredients how would I go about recreating it?

The ingredients are: Water, Coconut Oil, Modified Food Starch, Potato Starch, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Potato Protein, Lactic Acid, Beta Carotene (for Color), and Paprika Extract (for Color)

What do i need to do.

Ignore dairy allergy?

I've had a dairy allergy since I was born, formally diagnosed at 7, now I'm 26. I still eat it all the time against my allergists wishes (had a new test about 2 months ago to confirm I still had it) because the reactions were incredibly mild. In my teens I would catch colds and sinus infections. Nowadays it's just post nasal drip and usual bathroom trouble.

Still, I eat dairy all the time. I drink cows milk, eat cheese, ice cream, etc. the list goes on.. and as someone who goes to the gym it's almost "easier" to use dairy as a way to get my protein in.

Am I cooked tho? Have I disintegrated my gut lining? Should I stop altogether? Does anyone else relate to this?

Followed the filling instructions from this recipe but subbed for plant-based butter. Used Pillsbury dough for the crust (lazy). Brushed them with Ripple milk for the color. Turned out delicious!

restaurant served me dairy

Just wanted to vent. I’m dairy free for 6 years from severe ibs problems. it’s not an allergy technically, but it destroys my stomach. i made it very clear to the restaurant im dairy free and watched them write dairy allergy on the order. I ate the whole thing before realizing there’s cheese :(. (the cheese blended in with turkey in a sandwich) I went bat shit crazy on the owners. My birthday is tomorrow and the last thing i want to be dealing with is stomach problems. they gave me a full refund and offered more free food which i declined. Just thought other people can relate to this at some point and i wish restaurants take this more seriously. i’m so sad now. I have been drinking lots of tea but my stomach hurts so bad and making gurgling noises. ugh

DF Biscuits?

Has anyone found a solid dairy free biscuit recipe? FYI I grew up eating buttermilk biscuits so I know how good they can be, but getting diagnosed with a dairy allergy at 26 is fun so... I kinda have a recipe I use (2 cups AP flour, 4 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp of salt, oat milk/water for the liquid, a stick of margarine and a healthy dollop of mayo). I'm thinking about using bread flour to help the texture out, but unless I dump in a LOT of salt, they always end up bland. I've even added garlic/onion powder and black pepper. They turn out okay but nothing to write home about.

And some canned biscuit dough doesn't contain dairy, but if you've only had canned biscuits in your life...

Dairy free protein yogurt combo

Thumbnail

This combo is SOOOO good this yogurt is very thick and creamy and not watery like traditional Greek yogurt (probably from the coconut), not to mention dairy free! You can add in honey/agave, berries if you want, and top with the granola and it tastes so yummy. Kite Hill makes a higher protein Greek style yogurt that is more similar to traditional Greek yogurt but it’s more bitter and without coconut (has almonds and soy) if that’s what you prefer :) I included it on the second slide.

Pre-Cooked Thanksgiving

Hi there! Newly dairy free and will be traveling out of state as guest this Thanksgiving. I want to make sure there are some foods I can eat and wanted to pick up some pre-cooked Turkey and sides from a grocery store or restaurant. I’m flying so I won’t be able to cook at home and bring anything with me and I also don’t want to take up limited kitchen space to cook there.

Would very much appreciate any tips on where to buy dairy free catering for Thanksgiving!

Premium Plus Whole Wheat Crackers

I'm having a reaction to something I ate, and I'm trying to narrow down what it is. Has anyone ever had a reaction to Premium Plus Whole Wheat Crackers? They don't contain dairy, and the package doesn't even say "may contain dairy," but it's something I ate that is out of the ordinary.

Thanks for any input!

Best dairy free mashed potatoes recipe?

I’m one of those people that doesn’t like just plain potatoes mashed with milk and some seasonings. My favorite way to make mashed potatoes before being dairy free was with milk, butter, and sour cream. I’ve tried different df sour creams but they either tasted way off or left a film in my mouth. I’m thinking of just trying dairy free butter and milk but I’m not sure which milk would be best. Oat milk? Any recs are welcome!

Did you ever walk it back?

Coming to the end of my breastfeeding journey, which will mean I can reintroduce dairy. And yes, I’m looking forward to pizza, being able to eat at parties again, etc. But I also feel a lot better without dairy in my life and don’t really miss it. My son got dx with CMPA 7 months ago and I’m used to it at this point.

If you did have the chance to reintroduce dairy, did you? Is it a sometimes drug? How did your body handle the reintroduction?
