Discussion A fun little Easter egg
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but on this rewatch I noticed something. A key visual motif is Tashi between Art and Patrick. From left to right itās always Art, Tashi, Patrick.
The name of the challenger is the ATP challenger. Art, Tashi, Patrick.

Question I want more ARTTASHI fics desperately
As much as I love reading throuple fics and artrick fics I want more art and tashi fics together so so bad. Im pretty sure ive read every art and tashi fic thrice and THERES TOO LITTLE LIKE ITS CRIMINAL
Their relationship is so peculiar to me and I still can't believe they have a kid together
I know when the move begins they're in a rough patch but i really want their early moments because ik tashi loves art and I know she wasn't always like this throughout their marriage
I also desperately want #girldad art fanfics with tashi ofc
Its actually kinda sad how we didn't get any early tashi art relationship / marriage moments before they were both worn out - like ik deep down there was a good marriage there
And the fics of artashi are actually magnificent well written with great structure but im itching for some new ones especially ones with Lily
So to all the incredibly talented writers of the challengers community:pls pls pls write more and new art tashi fics + lily
Help a sister outššš

Question what was your interpretation of Tashi drawing & writing on the ad?
I tried to search this up online but nothing came up so my apologies if itās been asked before! why does Tashi have an arrow? what is the significance of the lines she boxed them in?

Discussion why did patrick want tashi to coach him?
i've watched this movie 5 times but i still don't understand what led patrick to have that conversation with tashi. my best guess is that he wanted to reconcile his relationship with tashi and art-- maybe he didn't really want the coaching but just the proximity to both of them. tashi acting as 'the bridge' between the two, this also goes hand in hand with "tennis is a relationship" metaphor throughout the movie. what do you guys think?

Question Whatās the best way to find a triad where everyone is into each other?
Iām curious how people actually find a Challengers - type dynamic in real life. I mean two guys who are genuinely attracted to each other and are both also into you. Is this something that happens naturally, or are there communities/apps I can search on meet? I almost wanted to put a profile out asking for this on bumble or something but idk⦠Any advice?

Discussion When Desire Can't Speak: Challengers, Moonlight, and Authentic Affection
In both Moonlight and Challengers, desire does not arrive plainly. It is buried, redirected, disguised, and, in moments of great emotional intensity, made visible through the body before it can ever be spoken aloud.
This video essay examines how Barry Jenkins and Luca Guadagnino depict affection when ordinary language fails. In Moonlight, Chiron and Kevinās relationship is shaped by silence, repression, violence, and the aching possibility of being genuinely seen by another person. In Challengers, Art, Patrick, and Tashi transform tennis into a strange and ecstatic language of longing, rivalry, power, and emotional revelation.
Though these films appear radically different in tone ā one restrained, intimate, and fragile; the other kinetic, theatrical, and delirious ā both are concerned with the same underlying question: what becomes of affection when it cannot express itself directly?
Moonlight gives us desire beneath silence.
Challengers gives us desire disguised as spectacle.
And both suggest that authentic affection is not always defined by clarity, gentleness, or resolution, but by the moment when performance briefly becomes revelation.

Question does tashi understand the hand signal?
"if you fucked serve like me" with the ball on the neck of the racket i think thats what its called. this is such a dumb question but obviously at the end patrick does that to show art that he fucked tashi and art understand and yells "fuck off!". but tashi doesnt seem like she knows whats going on, does she understand what the signal implies?

Question what is patrick listening to in his car?
in the scene towards the beginning of the movie where patrick is driving to the parking lot to sleep in his car, there's a radio news report or podcast playing in the background. i've seen the movie 5 times but not enough of it is audible for me to tell what it is. an online transcript of the movie writes it as:
"The Clinton campaign paid
a million dollars to use your GPS to hireā¦"
i'm curious if anyone has more insight to the significance of this, or if it just a random news report from 2019, when the film takes place. do you think whatever the radio is saying supposed to suggest that patrick has certain political beliefs?would this brief snippet suggest that he's a republican or conspiracy theorist?
TL;DR: is the news report playing in patrick's car significant and does it suggest anything about his political views?

Discussion In defense of lovergirl Tashi
So this post was inspired by an interview that Zendaya did a while back during the drama promo where she was asked who were her most romantic characters she ever played and she didnāt mention Tashi and that ticked me off cause even tho i love z as much as everyone, that just reminded me of all the times I saw people talking about how Tashi never loved art or pat or the whole « Patrick loved art, art loved tashi, tashi loved tennisĀ Ā» nonsense (which i truly hate w all my heart and cringe everytime i read this fuckass sentence)
Now, I dont fully blame people for believing that because to be fair she isnāt the most demonstrative person ever, but i do think that itās misreading a lot of her character than to just reduce to this cold ambitious tennis obsessed woman, she truly does love her little white boys in her own way.
However, I think that to understand Tashiās relationship w love itās important to understand her relationship w tennis and how itās evolution affected her. In 2006, Pre-injury Tashi was way more innocent, free and in touch in her emotions as her relationship w tennis was basically perfect. She openly talked about her relationship w tennis, what it means to her, how she sees her life going forwards, her goals etc to two boys she really just met. Adding to that she isĀ seen w friends, dancing freely, making jokes, just way more open and willing to connect with people, a stark contrast to what weāll see afterwards. Same thing at Stanford, from what we hear from pat their relationship seemed to be going really well like a regular young couple. Now ofc she tells art sheās not in love with him and does not care but the way she acts afterwards clearly shows the opposite.
And then there was the injury. Now keep in mind that tennis was really tashiās first love and the way she connected w people and things she wanted adding to that the fact that sheās someone who may struggle a bit more than the norm to connect w her own feelings, especially when they feel uncomfortable (like grief and love) and doesnt really like being vulnerable in general. it really was the base form from which she viewed the other relationshipās in her life. And then she just lost it. She put her heart and soul into it and gave everything she had into this relationship and it just didnāt care and left her all alone without any warning. This trauma just affected the way she saw all relationships moving forward, first cause without her base sheās not even sure of what sheās feeling anymore, and even less of how to express it.Ā
Now does that mean she never loved anyone from now on ? No! Iāll take the dinner scene w Art as an exemple cause thatās where she was the most demonstrative. Most ppl talk about that scene to show how bad Art wanted tashi (which is true) but you guys keep forgetting she was down bad too the whole scene. She initiated the whole thing, asked him twice if he was in love with her (which she explicitly told him she would not care about that unless she loved the person), gave him advices in her love language, told him she didnāt care about Patrick being her (their?) ex, she was on a MISSION. A lot of ppl focus on how art and tashi didnt date until 3 yrs after her breakup w pat but she had so much going on i think itās pretty normal for her to not run into a new relationship right away.Ā
I just think ppl are too quick to judge her on some of her actions during 2019 challengers and i dont think itās fair, theyāre all in a really low and difficult place. For Art and Tashi, a lot of things that used to work in their relationships do not anymore and they donāt quite get why. Art used to like playing tennis, understand that tashi loved him without her having to say it directly, was fine w playing for the both of them, it all used to be easy until it wasnt and tashi does NOT want to address it so she becomes even more closed off and tries basically everything to avoid having to address the elephant in the room as she does not know what it might lead to. Cause what if art stopped being her tennis player? would they still work? would she lose him? Itās a thought as scary for him as it is for her and literally sends her back in patrickās arms in an attempt to maintain the little control she has managed to maintain in her life since she got injured and lost the grasp on her own future, career and LITERAL BODY (i also donāt think this aspect of the injury is paradoxically not talked enough, imagine just suddenly not being able to move your body the way u used to in everyday lifeā¦)
To conclude, i think she should be treated w more empathy and understanding by the fandom, her struggling a bit w her feelings and expressing them does not make her heartless nor does that mean sheās this conniving manipulating woman who does not care about her husband or anyone else and no her and art are NOT getting divorced after challengers ill die on this hill. sorry if im ramblingĀ but the mischaracterization is driving me crazy i love that girl too much, the movie is about how complex love is and how it can get so easily mixed up and minsunderstood yet tashi is so often not given the grace she deserves despite this.

Reviews & Reactions When Desire Can't Speak: Challengers, Moonlight, and Authentic Affection
Could not imagine that these two films could be compared and converge so well together -- they could not be further distinct, but at the same time, so sincere and authentic. Wanted to provide some praise to this gem, genuinely conveys yearning through two different lenses yet achieving the same objective. Bravo to the creator.

Reviews & Reactions Dope Video on Challengers
https://youtu.be/PJvfVArQsUg?si=AYaFcsdfMw1qbsqS
Found this valuable video on the tennis trio we all love, where the thematic elements of desire, masculinity, and affection are explored in an excellent fashion. Thought I Would share to those who still hold this film close to their heart, it also converges the use of another motion picture in an incredibly ingenious way.
