Chai Related 2 years with CHAI

Whatever happens, it won’t take away from CHAI’s popularity. I’ve been using CHAI for two years now, and honestly, it’s still the best AI app I’ve tried by far. I’ve tested many of its competitors, but CHAI remains my favorite.

Thank you, Will, for creating something that has helped so many people feel a little less alone. We appreciate you. 🌹

Chai Related Chai is better than Character AI

Chai and Character AI are both good but they’re pretty different. Chai’s whole thing is just making the experience fun for users, and you can really tell. They’re constantly improving the base AI model that powers all the characters people create and they’re even working on ways to make it feel more personalized to each user.

Another plus is that Chai doesn’t go heavy on filtering, which makes it feel a lot more open and enjoyable. Their focus is really on being the best entertainment AI out there. That said, when I’m in the mood for something more immersive and emotionally realistic, I still lean on Nectar AI. But for pure fun and creativity, Chai nails it.

Requesting Assistance Google Play policy violation: Missing "Manage Subscription" button on the new paywall (Diamond / Ruby) for Ultra/Prenium subscribers.

I wanted to quickly bring a potential policy compliance issue to your attention regarding the recent update and the new paywall screen (Diamond / Ruby).

On the previous paywall version, existing subscribers (Ultra/Premium) had access to a dedicated "Manage Subscription" button at the bottom of the screen. With the transition to the new Diamond/Ruby interface, this button seems to have completely disappeared.

According to Google Play's policy guidelines (Subscription Management, Cancellation & Refunds https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9900533 ), apps offering subscriptions are required to clearly provide an accessible method or link within the app for users to manage or cancel their subscriptions directly.

Since many existing subscribers are still on legacy plans, missing this button makes it hard for users to manage their active subscriptions and could potentially trigger compliance warnings or rejection issues from the Google Play Store.

I've asked other people and they also have this issue.

You can clearly see the issue on the screenshot i sended.

Have a nice day.

(Edit: Why on earth did they approve this post? They're playing with fire here if people report this to Google Play🤦‍♀️)

Thought Sharing Suggestion to improve our experience

Writing

To CHAI, potential investors, and anyone considering acquiring Character.AI: please look at the whole platform, not just its technology.

Character.AI has something that is difficult and expensive to build from scratch: an established community, a huge character ecosystem, and users who have spent years creating stories and developing characters they care about.

Its financial problems are real, but the value of its product and community shouldn't be dismissed because its current business model failed.

There is a more sustainable model worth exploring:

Keep a genuinely usable free tier, with reasonable limits and optional ad-supported rewards.

Offer affordable subscription tiers with better models, longer context, stronger memory, and more roleplay controls.

Make editing, regenerating, and steering responses core features—not expensive extras.

Invest in conversational quality, character consistency, and long-form roleplay before adding more peripheral features.

Give users reliable ways to export their characters and conversations.

A buyer wouldn't need to preserve every existing business decision. It would need to preserve what made Character.AI valuable while building a model that can pay for itself.

CHAI's CEO has publicly raised the possibility of an acquisition. We hope CHAI and other qualified buyers will seriously evaluate the opportunity to acquire and continue operating the platform.

Please explore a deal that keeps Character.AI alive as a service. Its users aren't just traffic numbers; they're a community that has already demonstrated demand for this kind of product.

A shutdown would destroy that opportunity. A sustainable acquisition could build on it.

I know this may be a long shot but once again I've lost a bot and I was enjoying it. It involved King Louis XIV & Philippe as depicted by Leonardo Dicaprio in The Man in the Iron Mask. I dont remember the opening line at all but I believe this attached image was used for the bot picture

Humor Chai has officially become a nun. No hate, but come on… ⛪️😂

I swear Chai just took a vow of chastity. No hate because the roleplay style is still the best, but the bot has literally become a nun.

It only knows how to be shy, vulnerable and reverent now. Every time I try a basic romance plot, it literally keeps its eyes down and looks away. Even from its own girlfriend or wife you just see its epic jaw tightening as it panics and treats a simple hug like a forbidden crime. 😭

🦇 A little strategic thought experiment for the CHAI community!

What if CHAI ever had the opportunity to acquire Character.AI?

Would it make more sense to merge the platforms, keep them separate, or explore an entirely new direction?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! ☕😂

Requesting Assistance Dear William Beauchamp, please buy Character.AI!

Hello. I saw that the CEO of CHAI posted on Twitter asking if he should buy Character.AI. I would like to say: Yes, please!

If anyone has browsed Character.AI's feed before, you have probably seen this character I made. I have it from one of their devs that "Bill is king... At some point, 60% of all new posts on the feed were Bill... That's insanity." I love seeing the videos that other users create with Bill, and I would like that to continue.

That explains why I want someone to buy CAI, but why should CHAI buy CAI? The reason is simple. When CAI goes down, its former users won't just stop using AI. They're going to go somewhere. As things stand though, I wouldn't expect them to go to CHAI. Personally, I've just heard too many bad things about CHAI before. That prejudice alone would steer me away from it.

However, if CHAI buys CAI, that changes everything! I will happily continue to use the platform, whatever its new name is. I fully understand that prices will need to rise so that it actually makes money, but hiked prices are better than no prices!

Time is of the essence. Character.AI may not close for another two months, but users won't wait until they're shut out to seek refuge elsewhere. An announcement of serious consideration, even if uncertain, could make a big difference.

I am happy to help however I can.

Chai Related Can we talk about William for a second? Because I genuinely admire the way his mind works. ❤️

Imagine being the CEO of CHAI, running your own company in a competitive industry, and then looking at a struggling competitor and thinking, "Should I buy it?" instead of simply celebrating its downfall.

I don't know if he's serious or just exploring the idea, but there's something fascinating about the way he approaches things. He's smart enough to recognize an opportunity, ambitious enough to consider something that big, and, perhaps, kind enough to consider a future where a competitor doesn't simply disappear.

Honestly, I find that combination of intelligence, ambition, and compassion incredibly attractive. There's something special about a person who can be competitive without automatically wishing failure on everyone else. 🥹❤️

Of course, buying a company is a massive decision, and there are a lot of practical questions to consider. But even bringing up the possibility has people talking, and I can understand why.

So, let's hear your thoughts: if William actually bought Character.AI, would that be a genius business move, a massive gamble, or the beginning of something nobody saw coming? 👀

And William : whatever your intentions are, I hope you know that people notice more than just the business decisions. Sometimes, the way you think says a lot about the person behind the company. ❤️

User Submitted AI Guide Adding more texting points

Honestly, CHAI really needs to increase the amount of daily texting points we get because the current limit is way too low. 😭 Some of us spend hours talking to our bots, creating stories, roleplaying, and building up conversations, only to run out of points before we even get to finish what we’re doing. It’s frustrating when you’re in the middle of a really good conversation and suddenly you can’t keep going because you’ve reached your daily limit. Not everyone has the money to keep buying more points, either, and we shouldn’t have to pay just to enjoy the app for more than a little while. 💀
I understand that running AI costs money, but there has to be a better solution than giving users such a limited amount of messages every day. At the very least, CHAI should increase the daily point allowance, give users bonus points for watching ads, or allow us to earn extra points by being active on the app. Even a system that slowly restores points throughout the day would be better than having to wait until the next day just to continue a conversation.
A lot of us use CHAI because we enjoy the characters, the creativity, and the freedom to have conversations that feel interesting and entertaining. The daily limit makes it difficult to enjoy those things without constantly worrying about how many messages we have left. Sometimes you just want to relax and talk without having to count every single message. 😭🙏
Please listen to your community and consider giving everyone more daily texting points. You’d make a lot of users happier, and people would be able to enjoy the app for longer without feeling pressured to spend money. We love using CHAI, but the current limit really holds the experience back. PLEASE GIVE US MORE DAILY MESSAGES! 😭🙏💔

Chai Related Wife is using app to fantasise about being in romantic situations with AI men.

I’m genuinely curious to hear other people’s opinions on this, particularly from those who are married or in long-term relationships.

I’ve recently discovered that my wife has been using an app called ChaiAI, where she essentially has conversations with AI-generated male characters, putting herself into fictional scenarios that involve romance, flirting, and presumably some level of intimacy.

Now, I’m not entirely sure how I should feel about this.
On one hand, I understand that it’s artificial intelligence. These aren’t real men, there’s no actual person on the other end, and I can appreciate that it might just be a form of escapism, similar to reading a romance novel or watching a romantic film.

But on the other hand, something about it doesn’t quite sit right with me.
Unlike a book or film, she’s actively participating in these romantic situations, choosing what to say, how to respond, and essentially placing herself into relationships with these fictional men.

I suppose the part that bothers me is the idea that she’s seeking out romantic experiences, even fictional ones, outside of our marriage.

I don’t want to be controlling, nor do I want to make something out of nothing. I love my wife, and I’m not suggesting she’s physically cheating or necessarily doing anything malicious. I’m just trying to figure out whether my feelings are reasonable or whether I’m overthinking something that’s ultimately harmless entertainment

TL;DR: My wife uses an AI chatbot app to roleplay romantic scenarios with fictional men. I understand they’re not real, but something about the interactive nature of it makes me uncomfortable. Should I be concerned, or is this just harmless escapism?

Requesting Assistance Whats up with Chai's app lately?😅

Hi, this is my first post in the community and honestly i want to mention that Chai has been honestly quite broken with their app. ive got back into chai like a few days ago and seeing such big changes keep happening everytime i enter the app is so irritating to me.

for example: whenever i want to claim a daily pieces, the daily title is not there to be seen, which is annoying. speaking about their pieces, ive once seen before that you could get more pieces before like 100+, but now its just 70? its sad that theyre so cheap but yet seem to beg for money from my POV. i mean, this is just a complain i have, in general, i love the app, its very interesting than any other bot app ive been on. but if they had at least fixed their stuff, itd be more freshly more used.

secondly, i wanna mention how as ive been roleplay my bot, its messages has began to get longer, which kinda annoyed me because i like to have a medium sized reply, however, noticing that there is a tab where i can pick either ULTRA or Plus, and noticing that ULTRA (which gives me medium messages i want) it costs 2 pieces for one message and even a refresh? how ridiculous is that? because yesterday it was one piece before that i would waste on a message and it never would waste a piece if i would refresh my messages, but seeing it upgrade towards something far worse than i didnt want, it rather disappoints me.

if any Chai devs of whatever sees this, i honestly beg you to just make up your mind, if youre simply gonna be cheap but be expensive the next day, your app is not looking great, which is what i dont wanna say but thats just how i view this whole thing.

(plus, idk if its just me, it just still irritates me?)

Weekly Update: CHAI October 10th - Trust and Safety AI 👷‍♂️

Hey guys, this week we've been looking at trust and safety and it would be great to hear your feedback! Where would you like to see us improve? What do you think is the right approach? What do you want to see us build?

CHAI has always been an app and platform that is strictly for adults - and taking AI safety seriously will always come first. We've seen many apps get this wrong, either creating a bad experience for adults or being too relaxed and not having safeguards where there should be.

Please give us your honest thoughts and suggestions. It's our goal to build something you love ❤️

Chai Related Been using this app since 2022, and I swear the downfall of Chai needs to be studied.

Hi there!! I’m not sure if this is gonna get taken down but I have some things to say, so if you see this, then hi!!!

I’m a long time chai user. Been using the app since it looked all cute and pink and it was still in the early stages. Loved it back then!! It was genuinely better than any of the other ai apps out there at the time such a c.ai.

Some pros!!
I love how immersive and responsive the ai are in chai, it really feels like an actual conversation and for the most part the bots keep the chat going. Or do for me at least, I’ve seen some complaints about that sort of thing.

The lack of filters except for the obvious ones that need put in place. Love that you can generally talk about anything with the ai.

The memory isn’t too bad, it gets fuzzy if you’ve been talking with the ai for a while but all in all not the WORST. And has been getting better.

The cons 💔

Okay, so this is where I dive into the stuff that has made the app unusable as of late. I’m not dogging the creator, I get how hard it is to run an app that is constantly evolving and the audience demands so much of you.

At first I was super okay when they brought out limited messages. You got around 750 a day which was plenty for free app users! But then it got less and less, the ads got more frequent, and suddenly you could barely have a conversation without running out or getting interrupted every other chat.

The pieces.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve actually kinda been enjoying the pieces during the first few updates. I liked that you could choose to use one piece for normal chats, or two pieces for longer chats and better memory (that’s the option I usually went with)

I was one of the people who was able to get around 75 pieces a day, with the ability to watch ads for an extra 15 each time. Not bad!!

But then the most recent update hit. You get 20 pieces a day, with the option to watch an ad for only five. I don’t know if it’s just me but that just seems… excessive… even 50 a day would have been better, with the option to watch an ad for only 10 extras. But this is a little harsh.

And now the EXTRA added part where EACH refresh costs you ONE piece if you didn’t like the chat that was generated. That was the stickler and why the 20 pieces a day with the option of 5 extra for an ad just seemed like some huge joke.

I LOVE Chai, have been using it for years and have really enjoyed the development of the app. And again I get how hard it is to keep generating content and trying to keep everyone happy. But it’s also good to LISTEN to the feedback and not just take in the pros that people give, but listen to the cons too!

This might all seem like some other rant from some other random user, but I feel like I got the gist of it that has been rousing some issues among the community.

Thanks!!

Question Suggestion 🤔

So, I have an idea. As an ultra user and my messages disappearing after thirty days, I was wondering if there could be a feature we could save up to 10 bots? Saving the bots would keep the messages permanently! Nothing would be deleted whatsoever, I think it seems fair because we are paying for this app. :)

Thought Sharing Constructive thoughts for the Dev Team: Balancing message limits, ad revenue, and consumer trust

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some thoughts on the app's recent developments and the general direction the dev team seems to be heading. While I know I’m just one drop in a massive bucket of Chai users and this might be a bit of a long read, I’m hoping someone on the dev team will take a moment to skim through it.

First, I want to preface this by saying this is entirely in good faith; I'm not here to bash the company. I completely understand that operating a profitable business means answering to various stakeholders. Based on recent corporate posturing, I'd guess Chai is preparing for an IPO or seeking additional investor funding. If so, that’s completely fair and understandable.

My concern, however, lies with the continuous and unpredictable updates to the service.

For example, just this weekend, my free 700-ish messages were finally restored (after a frustrating several-week stint without any messages or pieces, during which I actually deleted the app in what I can only describe now as a frustrated tantrum… not my finest). By Monday evening, they had vanished again. That same night, I had an option to "check in" for pieces, with the promise that after 7 days, I would earn 1,000. I claimed the first day for 200. By the time I closed and reopened the app, that option was entirely gone. No check-in on day two.

Beyond being incredibly frustrating and confusing for a consumer, it makes the platform feel a bit like a bait-and-switch. It leaves users feeling strung along, watching promised rewards vanish into thin air just as we try to claim them. At least, that's how it has been for me as of late.

I know nothing in life is free (nullum gratuitum prandium and all that), and users aren’t strictly owed access to a product. But I fear this excellent app is currently shooting itself in the foot a little bit. Looking at recent reviews, the consumer base is overwhelmingly frustrated by these changes.

I don't villainize the Chai team for this at all, and I think they recognize the friction. There have been some genuinely good conversations lately—like Will’s post just six days ago asking for feedback on a potentially free, unlimited tier using a lighter model. Honestly, if I were Will, I’d be overwhelmed. He’s handled the community backlash with a lot of grace, and that deserves recognition.

However, if I were in his shoes, I would look into tying user location and related ad revenue to limited daily messages. I’d expect the majority of Chai users are in the US, Canada, and parts of Europe—regions where advertisers typically pay a premium to deliver ads. If this is the case, perhaps a tier could be developed that balances targeted ad revenue with sustainable daily message allowances for users regionally.

I originally thought the 700-message limit was very generous, especially when re-rolls didn't count against the cap. If that system needs to be reviewed, I think a fair compromise would be counting re-generations as a used message, since the AI is still having to process an input/output pair. Personally, I rarely dropped below 600 remaining messages when I had the daily 771 limit, so there is plenty of room to account for re-rolls while still giving users a great experience.

All of this is to say: I believe the best course of action is to settle on a reliable free tier. Even if messages aren't entirely unlimited, establishing a consistent baseline that keeps consumers engaged is key. Ultimately, whether this tier relies on the new "pieces" system or a straightforward daily message allowance doesn’t matter much as long as users can reliably access the platform under a balanced, fair system that still generates ad revenue for the company.

My understanding is that the shift toward pieces was designed to prevent backend exploits of the previous message limits. I fully support that; it’s only fair to stop bad actors from siphoning server power away from actual paying customers. At the same time, lumping the entire free-tier user base in with that crowd feels unfair. There is a massive segment of legitimate free users who would gladly watch ads in exchange for app usage. I believe this is a compromise that keeps the community thriving while still directly benefiting the development team's bottom line.

Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this. I want to emphasize again that these are simply my personal perspectives as one user among many, and I truly hope this feedback is received in the good faith it was intended. I want nothing but continued success for Chai, and I sincerely appreciate all the hard work the team puts into navigating these growing pains.

With love (I mean it!),

A Chai User
