I know you are eager to try to find species of your new leaf munching friend but please remember to add your location into the post. There is large variance of caterpillars depending on country and even inside countries have different areas with their own soecies so with large countries, its preferred to add state/city etc also.
This speeds up identifying as there are similar looking caterpillars but species can be different depending country. Some species only inhabit tiny areas. Looking forward for all new posts. ๐ Thank you!

Havenโt shared them in a while but theyโre doing great! I kept a group of about 15 individuals to raise and released the rest. Just realised I havenโt really given an update on my group in a long time!
Theyโre mostly all in their 3rd instar and are doing really well. They are loving lilly pilly and love to cluster together whenever the soft pink new growth is available. They also have Koelrutia Elegans available but lilly pilly seems to be their favourite.
I believe 4th instar is where Olene mendosa start to show sexual dimorphism in their larval stage. Olivia started to look a lot hairier around 4th instar whereas Ollie stayed relatively similar in appearance to how these 3rd instars look currently. Will be very interesting to see them after their next moult.

Hello, i just found this little guy burrowing in my backyard in Phoenix, AZ. A Google lens search says it's a White Lined Sphinx Moth pupa. I was hoping for confirmation or enlightenment if it's another species.

Iโve been seeing a few of these around my front yard. Are these dangerous and should I do anything about them?
Thank you for your help!

Found it in my garage. What kind of caterpillar/worm is this?

Was running low on available containers so i made some of my caterpillars buddy up, and after just 2 hours they ate all the leaves. Shouldve expected that tbh, theyre on their last instar so much munching is currently taking place. Its also kinda cute and funny they huddled on the same leaf in a similar manner lol. I put 2 stalks of tomato leaves in after taking the pics

Genuine question although I touched the triangle shaped fur on its back and didnโt feel anything (do not try this)(I washed my hand after for safety purposes)
googled it and found itโs named Calliteara pudibunda! They look SO cool

I've recently decided to start seeing if I can hatch butterflies. A green caterpillar (I thought) came in my weekly veg box so I thought, perfect I'll try with him, and I set him up in an enclosure with cabbage leaves (the vegetable I assumed he came in on) and some sticks, as per online guidance.
However, within a day he had disappeared within the enclosure and I believe is inside one of the sticks (it's a bit of fire kindling actually) because the only trace of him I can find is the photo of the wood with new goop on it... also no leaves have been eaten.
I've googled and googled - do you think he is a caterpillar or some other grub? Is it plausible he's an early stage sawfly larva? Any ideas welcome. I'm not sure whether he could be hibernating as some caterpillars do? and scotland is quite cold now.

I want to plant a caterpillar garden in an area with a lot of deer pressure. Iโd prefer not to add a deer fence.
To make an aromatic cultivar, the plantโs chemistry must change. Caterpillars and plant chemistry have a very delicate evolutionary relationship. I worry, especially for native specialist caterpillars, that aromatic cultivars of native plants will prevent them from thriving on the plants.
Anyone have any knowledge/insights?
