Discussion Aphrodite cabin should be a (mini)castle instead of a Barbie house[all]
It felt wrong for the Aphrodite cabin to be a Barbie dream house cuz feminine beauty isn’t the only kind.(Barbie’s being stereotypically feminine) we see that there are boyish/masculine kids in the cabin in the lost hero when Piper visits plus Piper herself being a tomboy. So I was thinking.. why not a castle? Lords and ladies both lived in castles. Castles are associated with nobility, beauty, rarity, riches, all of the things. I think it’s fits Aphrodite cabin. Not to mention, castles are designed for defense. Where will this mini castle be located? Camp half blood. Who’s Aphrodite dating? The god of war. A castle is perfect. I’m sure I’m not the first one to say this though lol

for those of you who don’t know, Orpheus Collar illustrated the graphic novel versions of The Lightning Thief through Mark of Athena, he didn’t illustrate for Blood of Olympus so this feels extra intentional… it’s uncanny

Discussion [hoo] [toa] piper and jason are the most realistic relationship
Honestly, I think Jason and Piper had one of the most realistic relationships in the entire Percy Jackson universe, and their breakup is a huge reason why.
Their relationship literally started with fake memories. Piper had to figure out whether she actually loved Jason or if she was attached to the version of him Hera had made her believe she knew. And even after they developed genuine feelings for each other, that didn’t automatically mean they were meant to stay together forever. They cared about each other, but eventually, they grew apart and realized that their relationship wasn’t what they wanted anymore.
And honestly, THAT is what makes their relationship so realistic to me.
Compare them to Percy and Annabeth, for example. Don’t get me wrong, I love Percabeth, but sometimes it feels like their relationship is treated as an inevitable part of the story. No matter what happens, how much they change, or what they go through, we’re always supposed to believe they’ll end up together. The same goes for so many other couples in the Riordanverse. Their relationships go through absolutely insane situations, but breaking up is rarely treated as a genuine possibility.
And I’m not saying Percy and Annabeth should break up just for the sake of making their relationship realistic. They’ve been through a lot, and there’s nothing wrong with two people choosing each other despite everything. My point is that there’s a difference between choosing to stay with someone and feeling like you’re destined to stay with them no matter what.
Jason and Piper’s relationship actually explored that difference. They didn’t need someone to cheat or do something unforgivable for their relationship to end. There wasn’t necessarily a villain or some huge betrayal. They simply realized that they weren’t right for each other anymore. And I feel like that’s something YA fantasy rarely explores properly because the idea of soulmates and endgame couples is so appealing.
Sometimes, you can genuinely love someone and still not be compatible with them long-term. Sometimes, you grow into different people. Sometimes, the relationship that once made you happy isn’t what you need anymore. That doesn’t mean the feelings you had were fake, and it doesn’t mean the relationship was a waste of time.
I also think their breakup makes their original relationship more interesting in retrospect. Jason and Piper were brought together under circumstances that made them believe they were supposed to be in love, and their eventual separation forced them to figure out who they were outside of that relationship. Piper especially had to confront the difference between the love she thought she was supposed to feel and what she actually wanted for herself.
Meanwhile, so many other couples in the series get to remain together, and their relationships are rarely questioned in the same way. We see them overcome monsters, prophecies, wars, and literal gods, but we don’t always get to see them confront the possibility that they might simply grow apart. Obviously, surviving all those things together can strengthen a relationship, but surviving everything together doesn’t automatically make two people compatible forever.
And I think that’s why Jason and Piper stand out to me. Their relationship wasn’t realistic simply because they broke up. It was realistic because the story acknowledged that love isn’t always enough, feelings can change, and not every relationship is supposed to last forever.
In a universe where fate, prophecies, and divine intervention dictate so much of people’s lives, there’s something genuinely human about two people realizing they don’t want to be together anymore and choosing to move on.
They can still care about each other. They can still value what they had. They can still acknowledge that their relationship mattered.
They just don’t have to end up together.
And honestly, I wish the Riordanverse explored that side of relationships more often instead of making so many couples feel like they’re destined to be endgame from the moment they get together.

Merchandise Cover searching [pjo] [hoo]
Were these covers only BN exclusives? I’m looking for the hardcovers because, after telling myself I wouldn’t, now I want them because they match the college trilogy. 😅 TLF and SoM are out of stock on the site … do these ever come back around or are they just … done/limited printings?
And while I’m here, remember those deluxe editions for the Heroes of Olympus? Has anyone had any luck finding those? I have Mark of Athena, but I’ve considered adding the other 3 to my collection (hate that Son of Poseidon never got one). I’ve never tried looking for out of print books before, so I’m not sure where a good source is (besides eBay).

News New Blog Post + Senior Year Adventures book 3 Update [PJO]
Link: blog post
Rick Riordan posted a new blog post today. It’s mostly a roundup of the US tour stops but he gave a small update on the 3rd Senior Years Adventure book. He is currently working on revisions for it and thinks the publish date might be late 2027.
I’m personally really curious about how it’s going to fit into the publishing schedule since there’s still three more Camp Half-Blood coauthored books to be published.

Discussion [general] We will never have a good Percy Jackson adaptation.
I get the critiques of the Percy Jackson show.
“It’s too serious. The lore isn’t really accurate! It’s going too fast! It should be more lighthearted, silly, and funny!”
While the Percy Jackson show definitely has its downsides, what people are missing is that Percy’s internal monologue is what made the books so funny and entertaining.
Percy’s internal monologue makes it almost impossible to create a perfectly faithful adaptation. His world is so crazy that he uses humor to make sense of it, to make it less crazy. His perception of the world vs What is actually happening are completely different things.
He’s an unreliable narrator who undermines himself and uses humor to make sense of everything happening around him. That’s why we’ll probably never have an actual good PJO adaptation.
-I saw a video about this, and decided to add my two cents in. (Sorry if my grammar is off, English isn’t my first language.)

Discussion [all]. Can you picture any of the well-known demigods falling in love with a god (obviously, a long way down the line)? [Note: This entire character collage consists of fan art by Viria. I’ll leave a link to her official page in the body of the post].
Viria page: https://viria.tumblr.com/
This question stems from a memory I had this morning of the time, years ago, when the fandom interpreted Aphrodite’s warning to Reyna "You will never find happiness with a demigod" to mean: "Your happiness lies with a god, and since the first Trials of Apollo book is coming out soon, maybe he—in his mortal form—will be your love interest".
Obviously, that turned out to be false, but the question is still valid. The idea also comes from roleplay groups I was in around 2015, where there were OCs who were the children of a god and a demigod, just to give those characters Legacy powers as well.
Obviously, Percy, Annabeth, and any of the main protagonists would be out of the question, I’d say. Even setting aside the known endgame couples, they’ve all already dealt with enough crap from the gods to last a lifetime. But maybe one of the secondary characters? Or some characters from the spin-off series, beyond just PJO and HoO? Do you think there are any characters who could end up having demigods as children? (Leo, maybe? He seems willing to hook up with anything that moves—provided it's a girl—or so I recall).

Fanfiction Looking for an old, likely deleted Wattpad Percy/OMC fic (Vampire/Son of Thanatos OC) [HOO]
Hi everyone, I’m trying to track down a specific Percy Jackson fanfiction that I read a while ago on Wattpad. I’m pretty sure it’s been deleted or the author went inactive, but I’m hoping someone remembers the title, the author, or the OC's name!
Here are the exact details:
- Platform: Wattpad
- Pairing: Percy Jackson / Original Male Character (OMC)
- Timeline: Starts during Son of Neptune and goes into Mark of Athena (unfinished/abandoned there).
- The OC: He is a Greek child of Thanatos who died and became a vampire. He has been around for ages and was laying low/staying at Camp Jupiter, though he wasn't actually a Roman demigod.
- Specific Scene/Details: The OC is terrified of water. The story left off right around the scene in Mark of Athena where Annabeth throws her dagger into the sea to get Percy's attention because Octavian found them. Right before that happens in this fic, Percy was in the water trying to teach the OC how to swim.

Discussion What would you change if HOO got adapted as a TV show? [hoo]
I see people here hoping that some day HOO would be adapted for a TV show, preferably an animation. I personally think that HOO is flawed in many ways and I wonder how such a shitshow could ever be adapted without re-writing a lot of it. People hate how we didn't get 100% faithful adaptation of PJO so would people be angry if that happened to HOO as well? Because I honestly think it needs a lot of work done.
So, if HOO was ever adapted, how faithful would you keep it to the original material? What would you want to change? What NEEDS to be changed?

Miscellaneous How I Would Do A [PJO] Video Game
I saw a post about this topic and thought I would throw in my idea for a game based in this world.
I would make something similar to Road 96 (a procedurally generated hitchhiking game with telltale style character interactions), but with combat mechanics and different classes based off what parentage you choose.
The story would be similar to most of the books where you have been chosen to go on a quest for some godly asshat and have to travel across the US to do so, with more monsters appearing the farther you go.
When you select a mode of travel (for example getting a Taxi two states west) it will randomise weather you have to deal with mortal threats (requiring persuasion and the “telltale” system to beat), or monsters (obviously requiring combat, or puzzle solving)
As for balancing all classes, as opposed to making abilities of someone like a child of Apollo as strong as a member of the Big 3, you just make the Big 3 classes lock you on hard mode where monsters are stronger and spawn more frequently. Hell you could even make it so depending on what parent you choose some modes of travel are restricted (like children of Hades not being able to use airplanes or boats to travel.)
This is something I made out of the blue so it probably has a lot of problems, but I think it would be fun.
I also want to hear other people’s ideas for a PJO game and how it would work.

Analysis [general] No, the formula of Hogwarts Legacy can't be recreated for a PJO game by itself that easily
I've seen people talking about why they don't make a PJO game like Hogwarts Legacy where you can create your character and choose your cabin. To make an RPG for PJO.
Unlike Hogwarts Legacy, this is not as easy as it sounds.
First of all, we have two major complications:
1- The era of the game
2- The cabins themselves
3- Character and enemies
Era of the game
First of all, you would need to determine the era of the game. This is important because of the canon and the oath of the Big Three. A game in Percy's era creates the complication that you can't have characters created by the player who are children of one of the Big Three. This would break the canon unless you do a massive retcon.
You could do a prequel before World War II then instead if you are okay with copying this idea of Hogwarts Legacy, but if you want a game in Percy's era you would need to address that somehow. Some people would want to play with Percy's powers and everything. Or fly like Jason. Or shadow travel like Nico.
You can't limit that.
You could create a game settled decades later in the future, but that also depends entirely on the direction of your story for the game.
The cabins
Once you have settled the era, you face another challenge. How many cabins would you allow to choose from?
If it is a prequel before WWII, easy: The Olympians cabins not considering Hera and Artemis.
But if it is game in Percy's era or a game settled in the future? Uff, there a lot of cabins to choose from.
And that creates the risk that the player would be overwhelmed by the amount of choices for cabins. Especially for the people who aren't so invested in the books or never read them or don't know mythology.
Hogwarts Legacy is only four houses. Here we have at least twenty cabins in Percy's era
And here comes the deal breaker.
Character and enemies
Hogwarts Legacy gives the player a choice that doesn't affect gameplay in terms of combat and balance. You choose your house, you only have a different common room. That's it.
In PJO, you can't say that someone from Poseidon cabin is equally as powerful as a child of Dionysus.
They have different abilities and powers and skills. Same goes for a child of Hades with a child of Athena.
This presents the complication that you would need to balance combat for all the different possibilities of demigods. And this comes all the way from point #2. Otherwise, a child of Poseidon would easily defeat an enemy while a child of Dionysus wouldn't.
And obviously that would make the player say too: "I prefer to be a child of Poseidon. Being a child of Dionysus is boring and difficult in combat."
Important thing in video games is that combat should be fair. Games should be fun, fair and balanced, and allow the player to learn from their mistakes.
Conclusion
I hope this helps you guys realize that a game like Hogwarts Legacy can't be applied here. At least not in the direct sense. PJO is more complicated with all the different possibilities that a player can make. Possibilities that DO matter for the game.
My friends and I we are working on a game for PJO in our own. A prototype for now, but we already have many ideas for the direction of the story. We detected all these complications from the start. I hope, if there is any other people out there working in their own projects for an hypothetical PJO game, this helps them and guides them as well with these considerations.
Unless you want to break the canon hahaha

Fan Art [Pjo] art for "Their Sign" from the TLT musical
Drew this for a thumbnail for a TLT fancast I'm in lol
i don't usually do backgrounds so it's a little wonky but i like how the rest of it turned out
I know the imagery doesn't really fit the song super well, but I thought Percy's overall attitude is well displayed even if he doesn't know that his dad is Poseidon at this point in the musical.

Analysis [HOO] [NDAA] [General] Asterion Redemption Arc Fics I wrote
galleryCross posted from a PJO fic subreddit. I decided to explore Asterion's character, taking fan criticism of his character arc in CoTD into account, and wrote two fics in the style of Riordan's writing. One is an original story set after CoTD during Percy's first semester of University, and the other is an AU. Asterion takes Bob's place in rescuing Percy and Annabeth from Tartarus. I copy pasted the chapters and inserted Asterion in as best as I could. I like this one a little better because I'm actually able to explore the dynamic between Percy and the Minotaur in a setting of higher stakes.

Discussion [PJO] What was your very first introduction to the Camp Half-Blood universe?
We all remember the iconic opening warning: "Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood."
But how did you actually stumble into Rick Riordan’s world for the very first time?
For some of us, it was picking up a battered copy of The Lightning Thief from a scholastic book fair or a school library shelf in elementary school. For others, it might have been watching the movies first (we don't talk about Peter Johnson, but hey, it brought people to the books!), discovering the Disney+ show, or getting hooked through the musical soundtrack on TikTok.
Personally, I still remember the exact feeling of reading about the Minotaur fight for the first time and immediately taking online quizzes to figure out who my godly parent was (Team Poseidon at the time, though I've definitely come to accept my true cabin since then).
So, how did you claim your spot at Camp Half-Blood?
